Ah the poo watch, I remember it well.  izzy had started going a couple of days between poos and then it suddenly dawned on us it had been  3 or 4 days.  The logic side of my brain knew it was ok after everything I had read but hubby got me all paranoid.  Every time she made a noise he was like, she's constipated and uncomfortable!  HE was such a pain.  When she finally did go, about 10 days and boy did she go, he kept going on about her being constipated - I said 'did you see the nappy - there was nothing constipated about that!!!'  It took him a couple of months to chill out about it.  Now he complains about the fact that she goes all the time - no pleasing some people!!!

Well still no poo and we are on day 4 now. It's still worrying me a little but he seems happy in himself and plenty of full wet nappies a day.

Definately enjoy it while it lasts - for the first 6 months my lo only poo'd every 7 to 8 days, then had 2 or 3 dirty nappies, before going another 7-8 days.  As soon as I started weaning at 6 months she started having up to 6 a day!  1 pack of nappies was easily lasting a week, now I'm getting through them like they are going out of fashion!

Thanks for that everyone i was really starting to worry. He has plenty of wet nappies and is really quite contented. It was just odd for him to go a fe times a say and then for it to stop. That said he was almost 4 weeks early so maybe his stomach is better at digesting his food now.

I can honestly say that we will never get tired of laughing at the volume and frequency of trumps lol. I am a relaxed mummy again now thanks.

I'm a breastfeeding counsellor and it's quite normal for BF babies to go up to a week without any movement

As long as they aren't dehydrated, having naps, look content and having plenty of wet nappy's then there's nothing to worry about.

If baby looks in and pain or discomfort or their stomach feels hard then I would take them to see a GP

Hey.  My lo started going longer and longer between poos.  At best I have had 12 days!!  Count your blessings.  Up till I started weaning her a few weeks ago she would easily go 7-10 between.  Now its at least twice a day (up to 6 times!!).

It is perfectly normal when breastfeeding their tummies just utilise everything we give them and there is very litle waste.  Oh and my little girl could trump like a builder - sweet!

I think it's pretty normal, if you arebreastfeeding your baby can't get constipated. Don't drink orange juice, as citrus fruits can upset your baby's stomach. Have you spoken to your HV?

He hasn't poo'd for almost 36 hours and i am getting worried. He is trumping and they smell a little so that i think he has poo'd but nothing in his nappy. He is only 3 and a half weeks old so i can't give him anything.

If i drink some OJ or have some lactolose will it help him?
