Your baby would have started feeding more frequently anyway hun. Sorry but this is totally normal and will be for quite some time. It's best to just except that you are going to be nothing more than a feeding machine for at least the next 6 weeks! Can you push a cot up to your bed and take the side off, or co-sleep? It really helps with night feeds and your sanity. If you continue to breastfeed then at least, if you do end up giving top ups of formula or expressed milk, you can go back to exclusive breastfeeding at any time whereas if you just express and you dry up, it may be difficult for you to get lo to latch on again, if he's not used to it.
All I can say is that it does get easier and if you stick with it even tho it's really tough, you will be so glad you did, I promise!

A baby is much more efficient at getting milk than a breast pump is so even though you can only express 2 oz doesn't mean your lo will only get 2oz when breastfeeding. It is more work for lo to breastfeed than to drink from a bottle so maybe it will just take a bit of time for lo to get the hang of it. Could your lo also be due a growth spurt? My dd had them at around 8 weeks and 12 weeks and fed a lot more for a few days as this helps your body to increase your supply. Sorry I'm not much help but didn't want to read and run

My little boy is 2 weeks old and i beastfeed him for 3 days and was so sore
i decided to express the milk and give it too him via a bottle, He was perfectly fine with this and i was expressing 3 ozs from each breast every 6-8 hours. However when the midwife came out on day 10 to discharge me she insisted i try him back on the breast, i did and he latched on straight away much to my surprise. Anyway been breastfeeding ever since and baby just wont settle at all he was sleeping through the night he even slept the 1 night 8pm till 7am because he was so settled on his 3oz expressed bottle, now he is none stop sucking sometimes for an hour a time and then hes rooting again bout half hour lata. Midwife told me breast milk is supply and demand your body produces what baby drinks. Have decided to express just for bedtime feed and can only get 1 and a half ozs from right breast and half an oz from left breast does that mean baby is only getting a maximum of 2 ozs if he has both breasts? Yestarday i brought some cow and gate comfort formula which he drank for his 3 am feed it really is frustrating me now just wish i had stuck to expressing as this worked for me but stupid midwife was so adament and said it was best for baby well i dont think it was in my case as i was used to expressing i dont wont my milk to dry up
what can i do??????

I agree with pp about feeling like a feeding machine! My lo is 6 months now and still remember the early weeks! My oh works nights so I had her all day and night and I was like a zombie. Sometimes she fed non stop and other times I was checking on her because I thought she was going too long between feeds. It was so hard and it was pure stubbornness that got me through it. It does get better, just take care of yourself and rest as much as you can. If baby wants feeding just let them and your supply will sort out soon. Keep on with it and take it week by week and see how you feel. Its all new but if you still arent happy do what you think whats right. Hug to you x
