mmm, I've not fed twins so I can't imagine how tough it must be! I expressed first thing in the morning as I expressed the most then. I would express for about half hour and get about 6 or 7oz, but breasfed babies only take about 4oz at each feed. I demand fed so if there was less milk for him because of my expressing, he would just up my supply by feeding more. But I 'm aware that this may not be practical with twins

Hi, i can't really help much. I don't want to give any wrong information. I tend to express in the middle of the night as i get most milk then. If you try your best to stick to a routine when expressing your body will up your supply to match your needs. Keep up the amazing work, your doing so well. Just relax and feed.

Hello Ladies,
Im breastfeeding my twins 3 weeks old. I am quite keen to express some milk as I would like to be able to get out and about in a few weeks and also we are moving house in 4 weeks and I want to be able to express so other people can help feed but im wondering how much i should try and express at a time. I can get about 1 oz in 3-5 mins (for the colief) but as im feeding 2 babies dont want the milk to run out fo them. When is the best time to express ? How much at any one time ?
Our son has developed colic and we need to give him colief in breastmilk before a feed and he was being sick so he also needs gaviscon in some water after a feed. (which he hates and screams the place down while taking both meds)
The other problem that I have is DP goes back to work in 2 weeks (on backshift 2-10) and im concerned as to how im going to cope getting both fed on my own esp with the medicines. Im thinking about aksing the doctor is there is any other way to give the meds.
Any advice would be appreciated ?

Wow, well done you! Feeding two newborns must be so tiring, are you managing to get enough sleep? Are you happy with the colic diagnosis? I wonder if you've also tried maybe eliminating anything from your diet which might be upsetting your son? Caffeine, sugar, dairy, and wheat are the usual suspects to try first. What we eat can make a difference. To find out about how much expressed milk your babies will need, have a look here - http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html
I wonder if there is any way you can hold off expressing though? I honestly think that you are asking a lot of yourself, to bfeed two littlies AND express!! Moving house, with newborn twins, gosh, that is such a lot to take on board. You must look after yourself, take your time, do what feels right.
