Hiya, my LO Sophie is 12 days old and developed thrush at 5 days due to antibiotics in labour for GBS. We went to out of hours GP and were given Nystan drops for her tongue but no Daktarin for me due to the new recommendations. It has cleared up on her tongue and I've not developed any symptoms on my boobs.

I was told that they won't prescribe it but Hv told me to ask Dr for it as her thrush wasn't clearing. By the time i saw Dr thrush was almost gone, so we didn't get any.
All Dr's got a Memo suposidly.
PP i would give your Dr/ HV a ring to check your ok giving it.

Hi all
Dont know if this has been mentioned already, but I have got thrush for the 2nd time since breastfeeding (last time took 6 weeks to get rid of it) but this time I have learned that Daktarin (miconazole) is no longer safe to use on babies under 4 months old and to be used with caution for babies between 4-6 months old. Not all Health professionals seem to know this yet, so just incase any of you have a baby with thrush maybe remind your GP or HV about this. HTH xxx
p.s. you can find this out through Breastfeeding Network x

The press release was in early July I think. HTH x
