Hi, my son will be 3 in August and we have been potty training for while now. he completely gets it when we are at home, although wont poo on the potty (but thats a whole different issue!!) he will tell me when he needs to go or will just get the potty himself and go.
the trouble come when we go to other peoples house or pre-school. he's fine if we nip to the shops, or the park, or the stables in the morning as he can hold it for that long but i really dont know what i can do to help him get over this. i had to put a nappy on him to go to school yesterday, as when he has an accident outside of home, he gets really upset, and i dont want him to associate these feelings with school and decide he doesn't like that too! i dont think it confussed him what i did, as i explained my reasons why to him. there are only three more sessions left until summer hols so will only be a few more times.
tried sticker charts and a bit of bribery, but nothing seems to help, he just starts to cry and get really upset. should i just persevere??
HELP!!!!

does he use a potty or the toilet at home?
if hes used to using a potty or if hes used to using a insert on the toilet and doesnt have that when out it might worry him.dd used to worry she'd fall in
if he really upset about using toilet at school i'd put him in pull ups rather than a nappy it'll give him the reassurance of not wetting his pantsif he has a accident but u can explain that they're more like pants so he can pull them up/down if he decides he want to use the toilet
as for using the toilet while out it have u tried taking potty with u or a toilet seat ?its a pain but is worth it if it helps esp at 1st till they have a bit more confidence.maybe let him pick on he likes so hes more likley to use it
