I just wanted to share dd1's potty training success story with you all as a bit of a morale boost as i know how tiring it can be.
DD1 will be 3 on Sunday and we had tried potty training twice before, once when she was 27 months and again 3 months ago. She didnt take to it and we went back to nappies.
Well, on Friday we were getting her dressed and i asked her to go and get a nappy and she said no so i said do you want your fifi knickers on and sit on the potty today she said no but when she saw them she agreed to wear them and all day friday she was dry! I asked her loads if she needed to go and she would say no and then just randomly say 'potty wee wee' and go and do it on her potty (number 1's and 2's).
On Saturday she had 1 accident in the morning but it was my fault as she told me 'potty wee wee' but i wasnt there to encourage her to sit on the potty. However from then on we have had no accidents, she has been to nursery and just taken herself off to the potty without prompting. We went out on monday afternoon and she went on the toilet at her grannys house and we went shopping and went out for a meal and she didnt have any accidents or use the toilet. (she also fell asleep in the car but no accident). When we got home after 5 mins she went on her potty and did a wee (prob 4 hours after her last one at grannys!)
Since then she just tells me 'potty wee wee' and goes by herself. If im not within shouting distance, eg, i was hoovering, she will just go by herself.
Im so proud of her as i was thinking it was going to be a nightmare after the last 2 failed attempts and my dh kept going on at me to potty train her and ive just proved to him that i was right by saying im going to wait until she wants to do it as its taken no time at all.
I do know that every child is different as its the same with everything as we still have nightime to do yet, lol! But i think its worth waiting until your child is ready as i have not been stressed at all with it. She does get a sticker on her chart and a smartie as a reward and its worked out great. Im sure she might have accidents yet but so far she's done really well so there is still hope.
Good luck xxx
