my little boy loves to eat water melon off a baby fork. he feels very grown up! He never misses his mouth and it comes off easily. It has helped with getting him to try and feed himself a bit of his normal meals of a spoon too.

I gave my lo melon at 5 months and he loved it.  I would give him a whole slice and he would hold the skin and suck on the flesh - he still loves it now that he's 9 months although it does get messy!

Melon is fine at this age and you don't cook it.  I just put it through the blender and LO loved it, though it was very runny as it's mostly water.
