    It will lose a bit of the vitamins/minerals but it depends how long you boil it for.  When you drain the veg, if the water has changed colour (e.g. bit green if you cook brocolli) then that's a fair sign that you'll have lost some of the goodness.  However, it's  a bit tricky to find the fine line between not cooking for too long but still being soft enough for babies!  Steaming your veg keeps a bit more of the goodness in.  You can get a steamer for the cooker for quite cheap in supermarkets or electric ones will be maybe around £15-£20+.  You can also just use a metal sieve on top of a pan (then the lid on top of that) or put your veg in a tupperware box with a little water then put the lid on (loosely, not actually shut) and microwave - same effect as a steamer and quicker too - great for small baby sized portions!

    Hi,

        My son is 8 months old.I have started giving him apples and carrot.

    generally i used to boil carrot ...smash it ...and give him.And apples i used to grind it in the mixer with milk and  give him

    but someone says like boiled food will lost its nutrition.so how can i give carrot..without boiling??

    so can anyone just tell me how can i give vegetables and fruits to an 8 months old baby.i don't want to go for bottled or tinned foods..

    can u just help me?
