HI EVERYONE I TRIED TO GET MY BANK CHARGES BACK FROM LAST YEAR IT HAS BEEN NEARLY A YEAR AND A HALF AND THEY KEP ON SAYING THE SAME THING IT IS STILL AT THE COURTS DO YOU THINK ITS WORTH FILLING OUT THE FORMS TO LETTHEM HELP ME GET SOMETHING BACK OR SHALL I JUST LEAVE IT ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREAT THANKS IN ADVANCE X
Thanx for the link Dimbles ~ we sent dp's forms off 1st class recorded delivery yesterday and included 2 1/2yrs of statements. I worked out the total charges that hed recieved from Yorkshire Bank and i was shocked £1740!!! In only 2 1/2yrs!!! Its disgusting so you can imagine what they have charged him the other 4 1/2 yrs hes been with them!!
How long does it all approx take to get a reply from this company??? Found out that they charge 29% commision (excluding VAT)
But as Dimbles said you get no where without a company behind you, found that Bank-Smart is a very popular and has had good feedback from previous customers.
Carnt wait to find out how much he's really owed, could do with a big lump sum at the mo to pay our mortgage off...
yes it is on hold but if you get your claim in then you will be in line to get a refund...
I was under the impression all claims for repayment of bank charges were on hold at the moment as the test case is going through court and this includes any new claims???
Just a quick note, if you send the initial letter requesting a list of charges without including a fee they write back with a request for a fee. I did this and Nat West only wanted £5 and that covers all accounts with them, even joint accounts as long as the letter is from one of the account holders (iyswim). Often they write back & say a hold has been put on all claims against them because of the test case in the high court you just need to tell them you are in financial hardship due to debt or unemployment or relationship breakdown or whatever & they have to deal with your claim. As another poster said www.moneysavingexpert.com has all the info on the procedure to go through, plus letter templates, an interest calculator and advice on how to get your charges back. I am currently chasing up Natwest as they haven't replied to a letter I sent them on 12th June but they have sent a letter to me from a credit agency asking me to pay them money owing on our account. I have simply written back telling them once they pay me I'll negotiate settlement of the outstanding account with them and written to the credit agency telling them I'm in dispute with the bank and to refer back to their clients. Best of luck to anyone going through this process.
i had the same problem so i swiched banks to yorkshire bank standard account and even if you go over drawn they dont charge good account and you can have direct debits from it

hiya...if you go to the moneysaving exspert website with martin lewis you can down load a form and fill in the appropriate blanks that apply to your bank you then send that off to your bank with a £10 cheque and they send you the total of your charges...then you download the next form with the charges on and send that off to your bank....as i said i had £3,000 worth of charges its quite easy to do.....it may be a while before you can get them as they stll have not reached a full decition in court but if you get your forms in and they do pass it then it is worth it!x
I tried on my own and got no where which is why I went to them.
Yes they do charge but the amount I got back and their charges was better than nothing and letting the banks, credit cards and ppi rip me off.
Its totally up to you just thought I'd share.
All you do is fill the form they send you a pack with forms to fill i.e names and details of the companies/accounts you want to query the charges, then they send off letters, (exactly the same as on the debt line websites!!) and then if not successful they take it the next stage if need be.
How exactly do u start trying to get ur charges back? Im totally lost n dont know where 2 begin tbh. Would really appreciate some advice/help
Thanks xx
nothing is ever FREE leigh ann we shouldnt be gullable. thats why were in this poition cause weve allowed the banks to take OUR MONEY, no wonder they can all have flash adverts promoting bank accounts it our money there paying for them with!! xx
Its so much easier doing it yourself and adding up what your entiltiled to etc, plus these companys do expect a fee of somsort there not in it for nothing, why should you pay them when your already trying to get it back from the bank.
i started my charges in march last year with the halifax and was paid out beg of july just under £2000 and ive jsut got £700 back in credit card charges.
Now im just starting on natwest which is well ova £2000 i cant wait to ring them.
good luck to everyone claimimg x
Found out that this company redeem 29% commission from the money where owed!!! Would rather claim it back myself then have to pay 29% its a huge chunk, thought id post this as i had to go right into the website before i came across the charges!!!
It only costs £10 (postal order) to do this yourself along with a letter. Which i got from Martin (the money man ~ GMTV) for free!!! Dont let em con yh into thinkin its free like me!!!
Tah hun, ive just filled one in for my dp. But does this company charge yeh for using them to reclaim bank charges then???
i have just received a lovely credit card statement with £100 worth of charges
I pay them via cccs and only pay a small amount im never gonna clear it now with £100 charges everymonth
Can we 100% reclaim all bank charges now? did the appeal fail? I had no idea we could reclaim credit card charges too!

Hiya, if you use bank smart or any other company are the banks still paying back charges whilst this court case is going on?? Im confused with what the update is on the court case situation and reclaiming. Ive got about £2000 to try and claim back not sure whether to try again myself or to use one of these companies..
