    to be fai though that is 90% of your earnings, i get below 90% of my normal earnings and im not on a huge wage, must feel awful for people earning loads.

    for tax credits purposes though for 26 weeks they would only class your maternity pay as £2 as they disregard the first £100, so tax credits would go up.

    you're only entitled to the 90% though, you cant claim the rest.

    The simple answer I'm afraid is you can't. SMP is £117 per week or 90% of your wage (first 6 weeks) so if you earn less than £117 per week then all you get is the 90% . I used to work part time and had to look into this myself.

    just wondering if any one could help!!!

    my company will give me my maternity which is 90% of my wages which is £102 which is less that what the government give us at £117 how can i claim the difference as my company won't make it up.
