What about chicken kebabs with red/green pepper? For my dh's birthday last year I cheated and bought some chicken kebabs from M&S which were lovely as a starter and then we had a nice piece of steak and for dessert we had Eton Mess (strawberries, whipped cream and meringue).

Hey ladies, dps birthday is not for a while yet, end of nov, but i want to cook him a special meal, just the 2 of us, makes a change from goin out for his bday. I want to make something with chicken and rice and maybe some veg, I dont know what will go well together, I though maybe some chicken in some nice sauce, some nice rice, but then what else? Any ideas plz? x

Here's my fave, it's very naughty, though.
Chicken thighs, ( bone in, no skin.) Season a bowl of flour with salt. pepper, and dried dill. Coat the thighs, then fry in a little butter, till sealed. remove from the pan, and put aside, then make a roux with some of the seasoned flour, then add some hot chicken stock, and a good glug of white wine. Return the chicken to the pan, along with some sliced red and green peppers. Reduce the heat, and leave cooking for 30 minutes or so. Before serving, add some single cream. I serve it with rice, as it soaks up the sauce really well.
