    I have a questionfairydust1

    hello

i am 24 year old mum of three  from London and would like to become a midwife

i do not know where to start. i have 3 GCSE and a national certification in housing level 2 but not much else.

I reallty need help  and guidance to know where to start

i don't really have a good support network behind me so finding some kind of childcare would be a must unless there is an online course or something likewise that i can do (would so prefer doing it at hiome or part-time at the mo)

i have a 5 year old at school but a 2 and 1 year old at home

    please help lasies

    all help welcome

    thanks x

Kellie most people on here are going for access to health studies courses, check with your local college that the course leads to midwifery. If you dont fancy an access course there is always the option of doing A Levels.

Lisa check with the college that offers the course that it leads to midwifery, or phone the university your interested in studying midwifery at and ask them if it is the right course.

    Good luck both of you

Hi could I please join this thread?

I'm Lisa have a 2yr old son and i'm 6 months preggy with number 2.

Would love to be a midwife and going to apply for an access course starting in sept at my local college, the only one I can see that they do is the access to higher education - health studies level 2....would this be ok?

Also phoning my local hospital today to ask about voluntry work, worth a try I suppose.

Hope all is well with all of you and hope to chat soon.

    Lisa xx

11 weeks old! You are very brave I couldnt leave Indi yet and she's 16 weeks old on tues.

Perhaps the college has a nursery/creche and you could go check in on her on your breaks

Good luck, hope you get your interview, let us know how it goes.

I'm good but nothing new on the midwifery front for me, got another 6 months before UCAS reopens so I can apply, thinking of putting it off till the march 2010 intake, still apply this year but for march instead of Sept. I dunno its a long way off yet, gives me plenty of time to tweak my personal statement to perfection :D

    thanks girls!

i cant wait, i am just waiting back on my application, they said the next interviews are march 23rd so fingers crossed!

i really cant wait to start still gota decide whether i go full or part time, with my lo being 11 weeks old atm i dont think i cud leave him in a nursery at his age so i mite do the day release!

    hows everything going??

    xx
