mine doesnt even know my childrens names, they forget they have them as grandkids and only count her other kids children which is lovely not

Atleast your mil is loving your lo, maybe try and gently remind her hes your lo not hers and she needs to let you get on and learn thing on your own. You've grateful for her help e.t.c but as a first time mum you want to learn things your own way but if you need help e,t,c she will be the first person you call

that way nothing you say can hurt her feelings or yours dp's and your big her up lol as a great grandmother lol

i think mil are pretty much either really crap or way way to much in your face i dont know any that are good lol

My MIL was a bit like that to start with, and I felt I could do no right when I had my first. She used to try and take over which used to upset me. I was 21 when I had my first, so we were young parents and I guess inexperienced, but it used to really annoy me that she 'knew better'!!

She's a lot better now though, and we get on ok. I find her supportive rather than trying to take over, if that makes sense! I still prefer my Mum, I guess that's understandable, but I've learned to realise now that she's just being helpful.

I hope this is the outcome with your MIL. Don't really know what to say, other than perhaps have a quiet word with her... but that might cause problems! Try not to let it get in the way of you and dp though hon.

    xx
