Hi - I used the nappylady.co.uk website and filled in a questionnaire and a local advisor sent me an email with their recommendations. You don't have to buy what they recommend but if you do you get a 5% discount. I waited until my baby was 8 months but will start from new born with the next one. I think there might even be other websites that advise you but this one seemed good.

The most efficient system for a newborn baby is undoubtedly separates (ie a nappy and a separate wraps), but if you get birth to potty separates, they are pretty bulky for the first 2-3 months. A pocket nappy will be less bulky, but not quite as efficient, although you could get some small size wraps to use in addition to a pocket, at first, to get you over the first few weeks, when your baby is really tiny, and make if super efficient. I think the best birth to potty nappies on the market must be the p'tits dessous mini-maxi onesize pocket nappy. It adjusts very well from birth right through to potty training, without becoming rather short in the rise at the toddler stage, as some birth to potty nappies become. Because it's a pocket nappy, rather than a separates nappy, you can adjust the amount of absorbency you need, so it's not too bulky on a newborn. Most people seem to prefer popper fastenings to aplix, as it doesn't snag i the wash, doesn't wear out, and is much harder for older babies to undo!

i was just wandering what each of you thought was the best type of nappy to use which is also good value for money.

i have been thinking of using mothercare smart nappies. i do also like bambino mios.  i  know i could ask a real nappy advisor person from my council but they only meet once a month when i'm at work!! also i think it would bebetter to get advice from people who regularly use reusable nappies.

oh also seen little lambs website - what are the opinions on these nappies as well.

last i'm not sure how many nappies i will need!!! i'm only planning using reusable for when i'm at home and overnight.  but plan to use disposable when out and about so don't think i would ned too many reusable nappies!!!!

    any advice welcome please
