My dd is now 18 months and throughout the day is rarely in a nappy.  I bought her some knickers and she has those on all day unless she is in her highchair for a meal or going to bed for a nap or we need to go out.  She screams blue murder now when we need to put a nappy on and I guess because she has got used to the freedom.  We have accidents daily but when she starts playing with the pants I say do you need the potty and she sits down on it with my help and does what she needs to.  If I am out of the room and she needs to go she goes but usuallly near the potty and I just hear her say oh no and go in with a towel and say oh dear you wet your knickers next time see if you can get onto the potty.  I don'y get mad or upset with her and she is really getting the idea.  But then we have always used cloth nappies and since 12 weeks when she could sit on her own has sat on the potty for a little while each day to start with and then eventually with each nappy change.  I am trying not to make it too stressfull and she loves feeling like a big girl!!!  good luck with it x

I didn't know there was a possible difference between boys and girls of that, I have only 2 girls LoL, but definetely they are all different even in the same gender.

For us, we were very apprehensive at the birth of DD1 about what potty training would be!!! LoL, and it actually was a breeze... It didn't feel like we had to teach her anything, we were and still are quite open about it for ourselves (like leaving the door open, or taking the babies/toddlers with us) we used a potty downstairs and one upstairs... and leave it at hand reach for her.

Always tried to make it a pleasant time, for her at least, LoL... Got PRETTY panties and some from LAZY TOWN.

All those little tricks that help a bit...

I know at nursery they sometimes send them regularly to the toilets, like a routine... I guess that can help too. Especially before to take the car for example...

    Good Luck,

    X

i thought most boys tended to be 2 and above to start toilet training, whether in disposables or not?

some children just arent ready till about your sons age.

maybe whenever you go to the toilet ask if he'd like to sit on the potty or the toilet. if he also watches his dad doing it that may encourage him.

give stickers for every sucessful toilet trip. but dont leave him in wet pants as thats more likely to make him not want to go nappy free. also try nappy free time where he can run about and get the sensation of it a bit more!

hiya my ds is 20mths old and have already had a failed attempt at potty training.  I think hes ready as he knows when hes going in nappy and does a little jig just before he goes for a wee.  problem is he doesnt seem to mind being wet.  he has been in terries since 6 weeks and I have been mean and left him to sit in wet pants for a little while to give him a shock and hopefully not like the sensation.  any advice?  TBH i thought it was going to be easy and he would be out of nappies quicker than if i used disposables
