ah yes the short leg issue lol! I have that & think DS does too.
as for the vests I do have a solution to that... perfectly happy people (think thebabycatalogue.com is their website) do vest extenders which add several inches on (white only, and I did find a couple of extenders out of the 4 packs I ordered have slight stitching probs but still IMO worth it - though you could easily make your own with rectangles of fabric & poppers if you'd get round to it!)

Lol - it is a length issue, just not a *leg* length issue. DS is long in the body but his legs are only now starting to catch up. Even with a slim-fitting cloth nappy on most trousers in a smaller size just don't come up anywhere near his waist. He grew out of 2-3 yr poppered up vests a couple months ago because they just don't stretch all the way from his shoulders to the underside of his nappy..... and i've not yet found anywhere selling 3-4 yr vests with poppers.

Sunshinebear - I'd dispute how slim your DS is if you need bigger sizes than length lol!!

Ds is 2yrs nearly 8mths and in 18-24mth clothes, he needs them for the length but even with a cloth nappy (admittedly I usually use pockets on him in day but still bulkier than sposie) he needs a belt to keep them up!!! so I like adjustable waist trousers but not got many.
DD at almost 7.5mths I have similar, although she often wears slightly bulkier nappies she's slim (last length check at 8 weeks she was on 98th centile & she's still longer than most babies her age, but on 50th centile for weight now) so to get trousers to look right an adjustable waist is best. I buy mostly in sales (well what i'm not passed down) and have struggled to find many adjustable waist trousers, not got round to trawling eBay yet cos it takes so long searching the kids clothes sections lol! Leggings work well on her, and obv dresses with tights.

I also like Next stuff. But not the newborn range, the waistbands are too tight to get over cloth bums. I always buy the 'younger children... 3 months - 5 yrs' range which is much more generous. DS is 13 months and still in his 9-12 next trousers with lots of room to spare. x

thanks, this is what I'm after, all brands work on some sort of shape and finding ones that aren't slim in the bum is difficult. I've found george t-shirts and tops gig but have a pair of their jeans that are quite tight. The NEXT dungarees are pretty good (also from ebay!)but again i've found some of their trousers tight.
of course, fitting clothes on girls is a lot easier...

it's trial and error I'm afraid. what fits one child well won't go near another! I have found sticking with dungarees and softer materials - jersey in paraticular as it's stretchy - is the best bet. Jeans are the worst as they have so little 'give'. Next come up small in my experience. Gap work well generally. George/Tesco generally an OK fit. It gets better as they get bigger but I have found I'm a size ahead most of the time. Sorry, not much help!

next work best for my daughter, and h and m. She is a little bit awkward as she is quite tall and very skinny, that combined with the bulk of the nappy is just... frustrating at times

I've found that Next do a great range of dungarees (well - not many at a time but that's what ebay is for) and they fitted *really well* in the 6 months to 2 yrs range. Also (more for the summer) their shorts seem to be quite slim but elasticated around the waist - so their soft waffle shorts in much larger sizes look really good. At 18 mths DS was wearing a mix of 2-3 yr and 3-4 yr shorts with no slippage problems...... although the larger ones came down to the top of his socks so didn't really look like shorts anymore.
In 2-3 yr sizes i find that anything with a roll-up leg and adjustable elastic waist fits nicely. Got some good navy trousers in Boots (in their sale). Maybe not Adams - the only pair we had from them (Xmas gift) never fit - they were both too big around the waist (although adjustable) but already too short in the body (hip huggers) - although DS *is* a bit too long in the body and cloth nappies make that worse, so they might fit better on others.
So - i guess what i've found works best for my DS is 3/4 length dungarees, slim 3/4 length trousers and shorts in at least 1 size bigger, and trousers that roll up and have adjustable waists. Although DS is both taller and slimmer than average - so this might not apply to more stocky lo's.

i dont get what your asking? clothes to fit big bums cos of the nappy?
if so then any realy its more about the sizes!!!
for example all in ones have to be next size up a lot sooner than trousers.
i find that jeans end up getting tighter sooner as not as flexible. so best going for light jeans rather than thicker ones
i know its not very eco but primark have combats and they are very good for big bums and go from 6-12months instead of the usual 3 month marks so tend to last longer size wise.
otherwise george as their sizes are bigger than anywhere else!
