I had my DD at 40 and did feel a bit out of it sometimes. The NCT class we went to all seemed older though - no-one under 35 which was great. We all keep in touch and many of us are on #2 now!
It was my yoga class where there were 'youngsters' haha!! Made me feel like a granny!!!! ( normally I kid myself I'm wearing well but faced with harsh facts like bendy ladies at yoga I had to admit I'm older LOL)

Hi all, just joined and at 41 fit into this catagory nicely. You do feel very alone at baby groups and midwife appointments when most people seem to be much younger, so its nice to fit somewhere.

I have thought about it, but no DP is adamant that he does not want to know and I think I'd like some element of suprise. Will certainly let you all know how it goes (well I hope)

Hi, I am now 37 (just had birthday) and expecting 1st on 10th Nov. Still really cannot believe that all being well we will have a new little person with us for Christmas! Had m/c in Dec and been waiting to have a baby for so long (circumstances, not through any probs) it just does not seem real. Also, the fact that I seem to have a toal lack of symptoms too (except getting bigger)
. Have 21 week scan on 30th June, so maybe after that and hopefully some good kickings from within may finally convince me! ha ha.12/6/08 10:11
Hi all!
I'm 41 but will be 42 on due date of 7 Feb.
Had DD 19 months ago at 39 ( 40 the next day!!) so only ever been an older mum! Certainly my last pregnancy went without a hitch - so I'm of the opinion that age has nothing to do with it!!!!

Heres to happy and healthy pregnancies!

Ooh, don't forget to let us know how your scan goes then! And your eldest two are the same ages as my two - it's great having built in babysitters......

Just another note cos i forget what others have written when you cant see it on the screen. I have three other lovely children aged 17, 14, and 12 so there is quite an age gap. they are really excited.

Hi Kathryn and all you older mums to be, its great to hear positive feedback. We are all really excited but will feel so much better after the scan next week,16th June. Will write again soon but to all of you thank you for your support and encouragement.

Grrr.... don't you just hate when that happens?! Sorry ladies, only meant that to be posted once!

Hi Barb, I'm due on 5 December and I'm 41 (will be 42 in the January!). It's my third - after a long gap, other two will be 14 and 17 when this lo arrives! I'm at that paranoid stage at the moment because I'm not yet feeling movements and all of my symptoms disappeared a few weeks ago (14+4 today) and I'll have had a 6 week gap between seeing anyone at my next appointment in two weeks. Had my scan early at 9+4 - not sure why it was early but at the time I was glad - didn't occur to me that I'd then spend weeks worrying because I wouldn't have been out of the danger zone that you're usually out of when you get a 12 week scan! I think it's fairly normal though to feel like this and let's face it, you never stop worrying from the time you conceive onwards cos you don't stop worrying about them even when they're teenagers!

Hiya, Im Christine and my little girl is due 7th August. I am going to be 40 1st July and this is my 1st. I cant wait to meet her, its very scarey but so exciting xxxx

I'll be 45 when baby is born in September and despite having CVS and good scan results I am still worrying about all the posible things that go wrong. My consultant is really good and seeing me every fortnight and the midwife team reckon I am one of their fittest mums at the moment which is reassuring. I keep telling myself to enjoy this but I know exactly how you feel. I am sure I won't relly relax until I hold baby and count all bits and pieces for myself! Good luck!

Hi all my name is Barb im 42 and expecting our surprise baby on Boxing day, Would love to hear from all older mums to be...
I'm really worried about the scan next week as i keep reading the sad news of others, and thinking is it going to happen to me. It makes it worse when your older cos you think this is possibly my last chance....

Hi there,
No not my first. I have a 15yr boy, well I say boy, he's 6ft 3, then a 12 yr old boy from my first marriage. I would have stopped there, but when I remarried Ray had'nt had any children of his own and he wanted one or two so James 3 1/2 came along followed by a miscarrage followed by bethany 2, followed by another miscarrage. At this point I said enough was enough and went to get a coil fitted by the doctor. Unfortunately as I'd had cancerous cells lasered off some years before he could not fit it due to scar tissue and I was told to go to family planning to get one fitted as they do it differently. This of course gave ray and "its fate" moment and I am now 33wks 5 days pregnant with twins girls. Definately the last we have both agreed! To top it all we are moving this week! Sorry for the monologue, but as you can tell I dont do things by halves!
Mandy.
