thanks for the reply ladies i have phoned midwife this morning to ask why i have to have a heart scan aswell as a seperate anomaly scan and she said it was because of the gestational diabetes and just routine now and not to worry, so at least thats a worry of my mind..

Good morning, I don't usually look here as the july ladies are fun and nice but I saw your post. I'm 34 and due in 6 weeks and at my anomoly scan (23 weeks) they spent so long looking at beanies heart I was starting to get worried as they did not look so long at my ds (3&1/2 now). My dad is diabetic and it's on my notes so it could just be something they have decided to pay attention to. Def ask your mw or doc to put your mind at ease though.

Hi there's a number of reasons why a scan needs to be done.  I think you should try and talk to your midwife or consultant i could give you a few of the reasons but i don't want to alarm you so i think it would be better to talk to midwife or consultant.

hi ladies i was wondering if anybody has had to have a heart scan on the baby when they were 20weeks  and if they have what was the reason behind it? i am currently 14weeks with baby no 9 and i suffer from gestational diabetes ( which i get in every pregnancy) and i am 37 years old, do you think its my age or the fact i always get gestational diabetes why the consultant wants me to have this scan as i havent had one before so this is new to me, i just wish i asked at the time what it was for..
