OMG how come you have found out it's twins. I am sure you will cope.
My friend found out she was having twins at the age of 37, she already had a 2 year old, she coped and her twins are now almost 3 years old.
Just means you with have to double up on everything, but just think you will already have two kids to grow up together.
Oh my god!!!!!!! That's great news - if not a bit on the scary side! I guess it will be doubly tiring but no doubt double the joy as well! Aww, I'm really pleased for you!
Hello..... ok this is the situation. I'm still in shock as i've jsut received this news... I'm 35, soon to be 36, and i've today found out we're having twins!! I'm so grateful to be pregnant at all as it's been one long journey getting here.....just a whole new set of worries, but we'll cope and with pride!! Fingers crossed i hold on to them both.
I hope you are all well?
All advice gratefully appreciated. xxxxxxx
Hi - what a relief to read about older mums. I was beginning to think i was prehistoric and pregnant! I’ll be 40 soon and this is my 3rd time, but first with hubby. I have 2 girls form previous marriage, 24yrs + 22yrs and they have blessed me with 2 grandaughters....so all this is a bit weird!
After having a mc last year, I dearly hope everything goes well this time.
Julie x
Thanks Kathryn, thats exactly how i feel. The triple test is standard here so i don't get a lot of choice, i will check out the blurb on downes and spina b too. Theres so much info on here and I'm still finding my way around.
I read the thread on killing a conversation too, hilarious and so true. Glad to see i haven't done that here and thanks for your replies.
Incidentally, anyone got any safe cures for insomnia, now only sleeping though 1 night in 4. Cures must not involve partner - afterall that's what got me here in the first place!
Jules
Hi Jules, I'm 41 and on my 3rd. We decided not to have any tests at all because we wouldn't have a termination anyway and I'd rather not increase any risk I already have of a mc so also wouldn't have had an amnio. Under the circumstances, it didn't seem worth taking the other tests as my age alone would make me high risk and then I'd have spent the entire pregnancy worrying about what might be - whereas I'm not now, although of course I do know at the back of my mind that there could be the risk of this child having a disability of some sort - but it's still our baby and we'll love it just as much whatever happens. You should read the thread on Down's syndrome as there are many views and opinions on there and it might help you weigh up the pros and cons - I'll try and find it and bump it up.
Hi would just like to say congratulations and good luck to you all.
I had 2 mc/mmc then had my first DS when I was 39, I had a text book pregnancy, mw couldn't believe that I had no problems and the bp of a 21 yr old lol. I had 2 more mc/mmc after Ds but now have a second DS who is almost 1.
For those that are worried how you will cope you just will because you have to, enjoy them being babies as it goes sooo fast especially with the second.
I ended up having emergency c section with both as there was fetal (sp) distress both times, but two healthy babies outway the sections.
I thought I would have been high risk with the triple test and on age alone it was but overall they were very low risk.
Good luck, I hope you all have happy healthy pregnancies, and lovely easy labours but if not enjoy it all there is a baby at the end.
Hi, glad to hear everyone’s so excited and doing well, but I think i beat you all... 40 last week and expecting our first, now 15+2, nausea nearly gone, ravenously hungry and pinging with energy -been lying awake from 3am every night this week, but then slumping face down in my supper at 7pm. I’m not looking forward to being referred to as nanny at the school gates, or needing to book a isle seat to get my zimmer frame in at graduation, but nevermind.
I’ve not used a site like this before, but it’s refreshing to know i’m not the only elderly mum to be, everyone seems barely out of puberty themselves, and not being a girly girl, i’ts great to see some sensible conversations. I don’t know anyone who’s pregnant either to chat to that’s not 12!
Got triple test nest tuesday, fairly guaranteed i’ll be in the high risk catagory just because of my age. Partner is fairly convinced I should have an amnio, but i think if i don’t want to terminate if there is an issue anyway, theres no point taking the risk. Any one got any thoughts?
Oh wow ,it's so nice to hear happy storied of birth and new babies! Crikey, i'm feeling great again - not an iota of pregnancy sypmtoms except those slightly sore boobs.... every morning i have a quick feel to make sure they are still sore!! That's thhe only reassurance i have. I'm back at work this weekend after a long spell annual leave, so hopefully it will help time to pass more quickly!! .......... That said i had my 1 yo nephew today 7 -1 and i am soooooo tired, he just never stopped! How will i cope with my own?!
Hi to you all.xx

Hi,
I’m also new here. I’m 37 and due in March.
I have 2 sons, ages 9.5 and almost 6, and two subsequent miscarriages, one in Jan 07, the last one at 12 weeks in March this year. (Yes, all the same father -- I know lot of people start to wonder given the age gap).
I’m quite worried after 2 miscarriages and given our ages (father is 4
.

Aww, welcome back and great news seeing the heartbeat. We all get paranoid no matter how much we know or don't know so don't worry about that.
I'm sure all will go well for you, 1 in 5 is a very small risk for us generally.......
Niknak..... how did the scan go? Was that today - can't remember the date of your post - preggy brain strikes again!
Wow back from holiday which was great!! Landed at glasgow and quickly decided i can't be pregnant anymore as i've no symptoms except tiredness and spots.... this progressed to a virtual nervous breakdown this morning which resulted im me heading back to fertility clinic...all tears and snotters... Anyway, i'm still pregnant and even saw the wee heartbeat and i'm only 7 weeks on wednesday!! Very excited but have this nagging reccurent statistic in the back of my mind (1 in 5 pregnancys end in mc before 12 weeks) I wish i wasn't a midwife, i know too much, but not quite enough............... Roll on week 13!!!
I hope you are all well?? xx

Hey kath and Kaz
Thanks for your worrd. I think we will be fine! I guess we will have to - lol! We've already mentally rearranged the house! God. It's feeling more like a blessing today compared to yesterday when there were tears before bed time. ........ I was so reassured by the first scan but i did wonder why i had a wee tiny bump (not that anyone else would notice) so early on cause i'm very skinny.... Not for long lol!!!
They used yesterdays scan to date me too and i lost 7 days from my actual dates. They said even tho i had icsi that embryonic plate development is different from person to person, so it's the scan they go by. EDD 23rd Feb, although i have not often seen twins go to term!
I'm more tired than i have experienced in my life despite working shifts for the last 15 years......... other than that a mild nausia, but on the whole great! Can't complain.
How are you guys coming along???
