Thanks for your replies. I discovered that you can do the first blood test and scan until 13w+6, which means I will be ok. So I guess I will stick to what we did last time and not do the amnio unless advised so.
I am having an early scan privately next week, just to make sure things are ok (can't face waiting until 13w...). TC

Hi hun, I was 37 when I had my daughter ( she's 1 next week), I had the Triple test & from the results of that they said no need to have the amnio

I would check about doing the tests a bit early, whether the results are still OK. I know that the scan has a pretty limited time-frame for doing it, but the blood-tests were more flexible from what I remember.
I will be doing the scan and the blood-tests, and very likely amnio.

I have had the combined test and the results came back that I am high risk - 1 in 16, so I am having the amnio next week.

I am 35 with my 5th pg have had 2 mc and have 2 hralthy children although the youngest has ADHD but is healthy compared to what youu're asing about.
My biological fathers sister has downs don't know much about the family cos i haven't seen father since i was about 4 and i was adopted by my stepdad at about 8 can't remember exactly any how back to you question I haven't been offered the nuchal folf test ?? and I have had the triple test and have told them I'm not having amnio no matter what the results as like you the thought of a needle and mc puts me off if no risk of mc at all then i prob would do it but as we trying for this babe for nearly a year not worth the 1 % risk i know its only 1% but its still a risk. I also think what will be will be and i'd never terminate anyhow
Good luck with your decision

Hi Hun I am 40 with my 4th child and refused any tests. I know scans cannot predict downs, but i left the 20 wk scan to see if any REAL BAD problems and all looked fine so, this answered my worry ( eve tho still worry, never stop do we lol) I know this doesnt answer your question but this is how I felt. Loads of huggs xx

Hi, I am strugglying to decide what to do with regards to screening tests. I am 38 and expecting no 2. With my first baby (2 years ago) I had the blood test at 11 and 15 weeks and nuchal scan at 11. This time I will be on holiday exactly between 11 and 13 weeks which makes it difficult to have the tests done at the ideal time. I am now thinking about an amnio, but I am not sure. Age is obviously an issue and a lot of people I know above 35 had amnio or CVS, but the idea of the needle and the risk of miscarrying makes me very uncomfortable.... what are you doing about it?

of course of course. I am sorry if it sounded like that. I have read your thread on Down and I could not agree more, I guess I just would like to know in advance (unlike other people that prefer not to know). Just a personal preference. Pregnancy is always a bit of a stressful time, at least for me, and I find that doctors are not really helpful in putting things in perspective on the matter. TC
