Course if you are like me and had not been making careful note of period date then that is no help whatsoever!  ended up with a due ddate from scan two and a half weeks after the due date from midwife as had to make up date of last preiod!

Still not convinced I was that far off though!

Oh yes and isn't human gestation 36 - 38 weeks  not counting the two weeks you are not pregnant

so how they can give you an exact date! there should be a range of dates over a two week period.

    I know... I am a pregnancy geek.

You aren't actually pregnant for the first two weeks of 'pregnancy' because doctors take pregnancy from the first day of your last period - and ovluation takes place 14 days later so there is no egg there to be fertilized.  I can't quite remeber which way round it is but sperm live for about 3 days and eggs for about 5 I think!  A level biology (16 years ago)!!

So the day you have fun in bed together is not necessarily the day you conceive either!

You lucky thing Kathryn! I had one on time, one three weeks early and the third was two weeks late. Yup, they come when they are good and ready.xx

Well, to be fair they generally come whenever they feel like it anyway, I'm due 5 Dec but if it's like my last two it'll come at the end of Nov!

That sounds right to me.  By my LMP I'm due on 5 December and am 20 + 3.  Generally speaking, you're 2 weeks 'pregnant' before you ovulate when you use the LMP method of working it out.  The first week is the week that you're pregnant and the second week is approximately the week that you conceive, so the third week is when you're really just pregnant.  If you see what I mean?!  Hope that's gone some way to answer your question and not just confused you more!

    Hi Ladies

I wonder if you can help - sad as we are (and with an 18 month old) the nights of passion beneath the sheets are few and far between and this sorry state of affairs means I know the date of conception with our second baby (now 21+1).

My question, if you can help is how do I calculate the due date? My brain is trying to work it out, but with little success?

Based on FDLP I'm due on the 30th November, by wasnt pregnant for two weeks of that time.....help!
