    The last bit................

PSS: As Heather mentioned a children program, heres one for you all - which kids program to YOU like and hate the most.  I just hate the theme tune to Balamory as it gets stuck in your head, I'm humming the bloody thing now!  But most of all I hate 'Big Cook Little Cook' and I find my self saying 'It's hot hot hot' Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I hate the presenters!  But I do like 'Doodle Do'  I find the presenter strangely attractive (not in a sexual way) think it may be the Welsh accent!>>

    Hi Girls

Well Saturday was a bit of a disaster, think I have weirdo for a son!  I only lasted 2 hours at the party, mainly because Nelson wanted to spend his time playing with the doors in the toilet corridor!  Every time we tried bringing him into the main hall with all the children and activities he had a moody and legged it straight back out to the corridor, or wanted to go in the other bar and play with the fruit machines.  I didn't even get to feast on the grown up food as I got fed up chasing after him, either that or move my chair into the corridor!  I feel so sad about  it he must be missing out on so much fun.  The other child minders must have recognised him as they kept saying 'Hello Nelson wheres your giraffe', actually most of the time he had the bloody giraffe with him.  Don't think it helped he knew the place and got strange looks when the bar staff kept saying hello to him too!  Not that we go there that often, but they know dad pretty well .  Might have been better if Leanne could have gone, then he would have had her boys to distract him.  At least he didn't freak out at Santa but wouldn't let me put him down, wasn't interested in the present (told you his a weirdo) so opened it later a sticker book, great, a bit like giving a blind man a pair of sunglasses that!

Had a smidge of snow over night Saturday, but otherwise just rain yesterday, how about anyone else.  I was hoping for snow could have taken Nelson out in it!

Paula - Nice to hear from you.  Think you have no time now, wait until Alfie's on the move!  The other girls have given you good advice I can't add to it about Alfie waking at night.  Just resist giving milk in the middle of the night.  Think they don't really know about Xmas until about 3 years.

Heather - sound like your making the most of the rest of your maternity leave.  Sound so nice around your area.  Did you get any snow?  I just put a short sleeved vest under Nelsons fleecy he gets so hot as it is.  I still manage to squeeze him into an all in one vest at night, but it's tight and I don't think they do larger sizes now, so god knows what I'll put under when I stretch them anymore lol!  Might do the sock though, good idea!  Think he has a lot of his dad's traits, like the stubbornness!  But he looks like me.  Hopefully he'll have my sunny outlook on life (tee hee!)  and not the Garratt pessimist.  Ahh you mentioned Balamory that bloody tune sticks in your head.  Yours and Jo's shopping is cheep, must be living down south or I'm just extravagant but £105 a week is a low week for me.

Angela - Izzy & Heather are probably right about the muscle gain, didn't think of that.  One way you can tell is to measure your waist, top of thighs and arms, see if you lose inches and not pounds.  Hope you had a good weekend.  Caught you later.

Jo - Hand painting calender how sweet, I've no chance he'd be the one in tears.  Told his a weirdo!  You know Nelson never cried tears until these last couple of months with the tantrums.  Did do a hand and foot with him when he was 5 months, that was fun.  See what I said to Heather about the shopping bill, I must buy too much!

Jan- Hope you had a good weekend.

Izzy - Hope your trip to Baku goes and don't miss Maxim too much.

    Hi Linda

Well better to some work, be in touch about Secret Santa soon.

    SarahXX

PS: I love my little weirdo very much, just feel so sad that he's missing out on so much fun.

PSS: As Heather mentioned a children program, heres one for you all - which kids program to YOU like and hate the most.  I just hate the theme tune to Balamory as it gets stuck in your he

    hi everyone

well shattered after playgroup today - we did hand prints of all the lo's and then going to make them into calenders there was only matthew and another little boy who didn't cry when we put paint on their hands - one little girl was crying so much she had tears down her face

then after playgroup i went to the trafford centre to get another few bit for christmas - had a nosey at some secret santa ideas to - lol

angela - thanks for the hugs

sarah - thanks for your hugs too not mentioned all the goings on before because it's nice to come on here and forget about all the bad stuff.  hope you're cold is soon on the mend. try a really hot curry - that should flush out the bugs and you'll be able to taste it - yum yum.

paula - good to see alfies little cheeky face again matthew didn't wake in the night for milk but if alfie is hungry why not try giving him some milk & rusks or something before bed. again i haven't tried them but what about the hungry baby milk at bedtime?!?  can't remember but did you say that you bf or that he was on formula? maybe try just offering water when he wakes in the night to try and break the cycle.

heather - sounds like you had a great day out yesterday. sounds fantastic.  been meaning to ask .... how's lillies bedroom coming along?? or is that a sore point    glad it's not just me spending a fortune food shopping. i normally only spend about £70-80 as well lol.  did buy some chocolate eclairs as a treat though and had one this morning when matthew had a nap.  mmmm turkey burgers, they sound nice.  i'm going to make the annabel karmen fishcakes tomorrow and the book says you can freeze them - do you think you just warm them up again in a frying pan or can microwave??  chunky veg with olive oil and herbs sounds delicious. i suppose thats quick as well because it's the nights when ian's on lates and i've been working that i struggle with the most.  matthews going through a really funny phase with food at the moment - he used to love pasta but these days he just spits it out. he still has a love for cheese though and yoghurts which is good. thought tomorrow i might make him some dairylea sandwiches for dinner and little pizzas for tea.  LOL at men trying to do things, your dh sounds like ian - ha ha.  hope you get some decent snow over the weekend - snow has got to be better than rain

hi to everyone else and hope you all have a great weekend.

Oooooooooooops! lost a bit of my posting!

Jo - and some herbs, she sucks the living daylights out of a quartered courgette and is partial to butternut squash. I make a cheese sauce and use this as a dip too for her, she makes light work of charlotte potatoes as they are quite buttery in taste and i am going to try her with some homemade humous with finger foods. Oh and she loves roast chicken all shredded up ready to pick up and eat and she shares her love of pasta with her brother! Don't know if this is any help Jo??? Sorry to hear it has been a sad week Jo for bad news for your friends and family, sounded like everything happened all at once eh??  I always felt when I was younger all the sad things happened when you get older. Well now that I am older, and, god the amount of friends that are seriously ill and older relatives that have required surgery, it just makes me really frightened at times especially around christmas! I will leave you on a cheery note Jo - my DH always thinks he can build up cots, childrens toys etc WITHOUT reading the instructions! He always knows better! NOT - he gets infuriated after a while then has to read the instructions to get out of the mess he has made!!!!

angela - Snap! Was just about to repeat what Izzy said about muscle to fat ratio - you have been very consuencous (now that is spelled wrong!) with your spin classes, and building up muscle! keep going! And tell DH to lay of feeding you cakes during the night! You are spot on saying I am getting ready for going back to work, i keep giving Lillie extra cuddles each time I think about it!

izzy - maxim sounds as cute as a button wriggling about in his sleeping bag! lillie just likes to kick her legs free about in the air !LOL! Hope all goes well for you in Baku! big hugs too for being away from maxim!

Right I am definately off this time! Marcus is in at 9pm so we are going to eat together then!

Have a good weekend everyone! We are forecast snow! LOL!!

    Hi Ladies!

This is the first time I have been able to post all day! Lillie was shuffling around her cot again last night but she did have a runny, then blocked nose. Boy can she snore! We had a lovely day out yesterday, couldn't resist the charms of the little seaside villages at this time of year, they are eerily quiet but still as welcoming! The famous fish restuarant in Anstruther was still very busy, just had to go in for lunch! Lillie was as charming to everyone we met, people had come up on a day trip from the borders just for lunch! We then headed back along the coast to Elie, the tide was out and the golden white sands were totally empty, not one person on the two mile stretch, perfect!! It must have been windy on a previous day as the sand had been blown against the windows and doors, looked like snow and christmas time!!!! We got home only to go back out again! Debenhams was open until midnight and M&S late too, both offering huge discounts - got a radley purse, £10 off, and got Lillie some fleecy sleep suits.

Hi jan - You are so right about it being so much easier when two bottles have been dropped but then I have been running around with a beaker making sure she is drinking to compensate LOL! Its just great to get a bit of freedom away from the bottles eh? How is your cold today?? They just seem to be never ending at this time of the year! I should be a shareholder for Lemsip with the amount i seem to go through! Had to laugh at you saying that welsh sounded like gobbldegook! i think that with Gaelic! If we lived 100 miles or so north, then Callum and lillie would be expected to speak it! We get a few TV programs in Gaelic, Lillie just laughs, and I haven't got a clue! LOL!! Do you get a childrens program called Balamory?? Hope you had a fab birthday Jan - mmmmmmmmmmm chocolate cake!

Hi paula - Awwww poor Alfie with his first cold! bless him! yeah I had Lillie wakening during the night when I first started weaning her. I eventually resisted the temptation to give her another bottle and we finally managed to get her to settle with cuddles. I thought she was going to burst with all that food and milk! It did take a bit of persiverence but she just found her way eventually! She now wakes in the night to play!! like your alfie this will be lillie's first christmas too, I know she will be more interested in the rustle of wrapping paper than anything else! Callum used to scream with delight when he got to about two years old and opening presents!

hi Sarah -  These all in one fleecy's are fab eh? Nelson sounds very much like lillie, she just moves around the cot all night! I keep listening for her to settle down, then I throw over a couple of blankets. What do you put on Nelson under his fleecy sleepsuit, I have lillie in a long sleeved vest and socks? Do you think thats enough? God, Callum was just content to be tucked in and never moved all night! Oh and Sarah, you were talking about Nelson turning into a man! everyone says that Callum is the carbon copy of ME when it comes to temprement, mood, the way he speaks and conducts himself, he only looks like Mark, so Nelson might just be like  you too! DH said he would go and live with his mum and dad if lillie turns out like me too!

hi jo - We did a shop in tesco before we finally got home last night £102, I normally spend around 70-80 then more on fresh foods during the week, then realised the shop was full of washing tablets, fairy liquid, conditioners, toilet cleaners, bubble bath etc.....I  thought oh and what tasty morsel can I make with that!! LOL!! making homemage turkey burgers tonight! Some food did manage to make its way into the trolley after all!  I give lillie chunky veg as finger foods too, I roast some too with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and some

Hi everyone!!! It's been a while (again!!) I think I will have to resign myself to the fact that I just can't get online like I used to ! Alfie will only nap for 45 minutes at a time, so by the time I pop to the loo, make a brew, do some kind of housework that's it - back to the cycle of feeding, nappies, play, play and more play!! Alfie has his first cold at the moment - not a pretty sight but not as bad as what I was expecting. Weaning was going fairly well but he seems to have dropped the amount of milk he wants during the day and has started waking at random times at night looking for milk - did this happen to anyone else?

I hope everyone else is ok, and coping with the usual, seasonal madness! Actually, I am more excited about Christmas now than I have been in years - even though Alfie is too little this year to understand - how old are they when you can really talk about Chrismas?

    Belated birthday wishes Jan!

Take care all, and hope to join you again sometime next week!

    me again

just to give angela a big ((hug)) for rushing around again, i know you wan't see this before you go.  men!  are they born with certain brain cells missing or what!  hate thought of my poor baby boy turning into one.

and another ((hug)) for izzy, good luck.

another for jo, all those ill people and so many being made redundant at the moment.  i don't tuck nelson in tight, he also is all over the place when he sleeps and even if i tucked him in he'd pull the sheets out.  i just worry about him getting cold in the early hours of the night, after his t*** all the covers off, that's why he still has a fleecy all in one on, but once potty trained he'll have to go in pj's, but hopefully he'll be old enough to pull the covers back over by then.

    well ((hugs)) all round then.

hi izzy - posting at the same time

((hugs)) to you leaving maxim this weekend.

had to laugh at children hearing different languages - last night i put on matthews "bear in the big blue house" dvd (have to use the dvd now because they've moved the programme to 7.30pm which is too late), anyway - matthew somehow managed to change the language setting via the remote control and we were then listening to it in italian LOL. if i knew how he'd done it i'd let him listen to it in future    not surprised you're on countdown. at least it makes the next three weeks of hard work worth it.

hope everything goes ok in Baku

    hi everyone

well back from sainsburys and spent a horrendous £105 on a weekly shop!!!! bought a few things for matthew to try and some stuff to make fish cakes for him - fingers crossed with it all otherwise i'll end up having it.

just put him down for a nap in the hope that he'll be in a great mood for playgroup later. he's tired but i can still hear him chattering!

sarah - ((hugs)) to you with your cold. glad the dentist went ok and nothing needed.  MEN why do they think they can fix things??? ian is really good at taking things apart but then can't put them back together again. apparently he was like that as a child as well.  i can see ian over ruling me with matthew and think i'll be the strict parent and he'll be the push over.  that's a great idea about the doctors kit - might look in the ELC for one because i've got a 20% discount voucher. i think they seem them early just to get them used to it - even the smell lol. i'm hoping a can persuade my mum to come with me because don't fancy going on my own with him as i need a check up as well.  loooooved your secret santa post - didn't think the first paragraph was naf   i'll have a look for that nappy cream and vaseline. i'm wondering if it's teeth because he sounds snotty (but doesn't have a runny nose) and lots of chewing. can't see one that close to coming through but maybe their just moving about.  thanks for all the food ideas. funny when you're going through yet another stage. today i bought some annabel karmel funny face pizzas (for nights when ian's on lates), some chicken that i can put with microwave steam vegetables. also thought about doing some mash potato so that he can practise using a spoon with not too much mess. i suppose it's trail and error.  the new potatoes with cheese sounds really good. i'll get some next time i shop. thanks for the pillow tips - dreading moving him to sheets and pillow because he's all over his cot and i know that i wont sleep for the first few nights. i'll be thinking about cot death, sheets coming off etc (do you tuck nelson in quite tightly??). reminds me of when he started sleeping on his tummy - i had some awful nights sleep. could do with a video monitor lol.

angela - another man who doesn't think hey!!!!! well hope you got everything done and have a great weekend. make sure brian makes it up to you.  think of all the pounds you'll lose running about this afternoon

oh, meant to mention earlier in the week - been a sad week ...... ian's friend was rushed to hospital last friday with meningitus and put into intensive care (i think he's now slowing responding and things are looking better for him), ian's sister went into hospital fo a foot operation and came out last night, my god daughters mothers father (hope that makes sense) has just be diagnosed with stomach cancer after being ill for about 6 weeks or more, and ian's friend who fits double glazing has just been made redundant after working for the company for 9 years - he has a wife and 2 children, and really not good timing just before christmas

anyway enough of my woes -  you guys keep me all sane.

hi to everyone else and hope you all have a great weekend

    Hi everyone!

This is a quick post from me today too. Too much to do and I have to go to Baku on Sunday for a couple of days. I hate leaving Maxim

Angela - what is it with men. No sense of responsibility. At least Brian realised and warned you. My dh wouldn't even notice as that is my job to make sure Maxim is fed, watered, looked after etc. Your 2lb weight gain could be from all the muscle that you have gained in your spin class! Muscle weighs heavier than fat. Have a good weekend!

Sarah - thanks for the info on secret Santa - now I get it! I realised though that I sent you my email address but not my home address. I'll pm you that later. I should be able to make 19th - as long as the Royal Mail doesn't let me down! Sorry about your cold but at least the dentist was OK!

Jan - that's really good about Thomas learning Welsh at school. It always sounds such a strange language to me - I bet the cartoons seem really funny when you don't know what is going on. I think any exposure to a foreign language is good for kids. It makes them much more open and cosmopolitan, and much more understanding of different cultures and beliefs. I'm glad you had a good birthday. I'm very envious of your chocolate cake!

Jo - Maxim is still in his sleeping bag. He knows that means bedtime, so he is staying in it for now! Once we get into nighttime potty training he'll come out of it, but not before. But as Sarah said (I think it was Sarah!), they can have a pillow and duvet from about one.

Hi to everyone else! I'll try and get back on from Baku, but otherwise it'll be sometime next week. I've got an insane 3 weeks ahead before we fly home. This time in 3 weeks we'll be there! Hurray!

Take care all and have a great weekend,

I will try to post as i did last week from home but my computer keeps going bananas.

    hi girls

absolutely full of cold this morning, i've got festive with a lovely rudolf nose.  hope nelson doesn't get it, he had a runny nose earlier this week but nothing like this, hope his ok for his xmas party tomorrow.  typical eventually got something fun to do at the weekend and i get a cold!

dentist ok, don't need anything done yippee!

but of course the om has a cold much worse than mine, told you his always has to be ill at the same time as me and be "worse" - men!  plus he really irritated me last night, as the sky box played up and of course it was all my fault, not that it is so old it belongs in v&a museum.  no good him fiddling with it, he's useless at technology, i told him what the problem was in the end, plus he wanted to get all the wires out while i was cooking dinner and lo around, idiot!  then he over ruled me when nelson had a tantrum and gave in to him, i am going to have a right monster on my hands!

angela - oh commiserations on you gaining 2lb, but can't your weight vary up or down by 4lb, what time of month is it, you can retain water at certain times (think i've said before, nutrition used to be a bit of hobby of mine).  try drinking cranberry juice, it's good for cleaning out the kidneys and making you go.  laughed at mattie being stubborn about saying 'thank you'  nelson a bit like that too, but he says 'peeeese' so nicely now, i give in to most requests.  secret santa no problem only a few of us.  ouch on more than one level with your dentist, what are you having done?.  i had a load treatment done while on mat leave, free gold cap, can't ask for more!    nelson doesn't know what's going on with xmas really but i have been showing santa in books, as last year he freaked at father christmas, so i thought i would familiarise him, whether it works is another question.  but i'll enjoy myself tee hee!

jan - glad you had a nice day yesterday, hmmm chocolate cake lovely!  have a nice few days.  and yes i got your pm's ok.

jo - matthew seams to be getting on really well with is swimming, it's peace of mind them knowing what to do in water, that's why i would love nelson to learn soon, but finding the time, i just can't do at moment.  your dentist sees them early, mine doesn't want to see nelson until his at least 2.5 years, so i've made an appointment for when i go next.  my dentist gave a bit of advice, she said to get a play doctors kit, with a plastic mirror thing in and play with it with them putting in it their mouth, so they are familiar with it.  thought my secret santa post would look all business like, until i read it back and realised the first paragraph sounded really naf lol!  try metanium cream, not sure how you spell that, it's brilliant nappy cream, thick yellow stuff but i think jan said it's better mixed with vaseline, but it works very quickly.  you can use a pillow and duvet from a year old, nelson has a 4.5 tog duvet, but think he could use a bigger one now.  as for meal time idea's i've plenty, try new potatoes, cut into chuncky pieces, you could even melt cheese on them.  make your own little meat balls from mince, he can pick up, whole broccoli florets, green string beans, carrots (i always put raw carrot sticks out for nelson to pick on at weekends), c***tail sausages and mini sausage rolls.  what i found good also is party mini food, like mini pizza's or make your own version etc.  smiley faces (similar to waffles but fun).  well i hope i've given you some ideas.

hope you had a nice time yesterday heather.

well better get on had the electrician in this morning and not turned long on as it.  have a nice weekend if

oh, sorry forgot to ask for some advice

matthew currently sleeps in his grobag at night (dreading moving to sheets etc), but when can you move to sheets and a pillow???

also, what do you give your lo's at mealtimes. trying to think of some good healthy meals where he can eat with his fingers. don't want it all to be .. something and chips. i'm still cooking some things i can feed him (like lamb casserole, spag bol etc) but need to think of some other ideas until he can use a spoon. thought about giving him cheese on toast.

    thanks

    hi everyone

i'm also popping on twice in one day - lol

well, kitchen clean, bathroom room, i'm clean, 2nd load of washing on ... phew.

swimming went really well again. he loves the freedom that the armbands give. even managed to let go of him a few times, although after a few seconds he kind of rolled onto his side he was kicking his little legs like made and looked like he was doing the doggy paddle LOL - don't know about matthew but i know that i'll sleep well tonight!

i see we were all posting at the same time this morning lol.

jan - glad you've had a good birthday (except of the unwanted gift of a cold!) . if you read above swimming was great today but really tiring. had they started them on armbands at 12 months then by 18 months they should be able to swim themselves without being held (sounds like bliss) but it'll take a bit longer now. he does really well though and will sit patiently on the side whilst i get in or out and knows how to hang onto the rails when he's in the water - it's one of the first things they teach them so if they ever get into trouble they know how to get to the side and hold on. his favourite thing about swimming though is sitting on the side and throwing himself in - finds it hilarious    wow, it'll be great if thomas learns welsh - i didn't know about the hearing a foreign language before 9 months - that's really interesting.

sarah - how's your cold??? seems to be that time of year again and i suppose the joys of being a mother - i look forward to catching everything that matthew gets!!! i'm still surprised that he didn't catch that stomach bug i had a few weeks ago - i did completely disinfect the house though - lol. hope the dentist went ok. had to laugh at the paying a fortune for the pleasure. our dentist is now private so pay £9.50 a month for a check-up every 6 months but think you also get discounts on any treatment you have. fortunately matthew can go free. my next appointment is next month and matthew will be coming along. last time he only had one tooth so she didn't really bother with him.  i also hate being late and have a friend who drives me bonkers with her latest, especially when she's had more time to get ready than me. i have found though that since having matthew you can't plan for everything. the amount of times we are just about to leave the house and he poos - that knocks me back a good 10 minutes as have to strip him off.   oh, and yes, i'm going to get "the house with the nice new driveway" officially put into my address - paid to much for it not to lol.  you're really good sorting out the secret santa. you're post ending made me laugh as well as reminded me of a works email with a "by the ....." on it. i hate those emails at work that finish "by close of play" or "by close of business".

angela - sorry about the weigh in - had to laugh at the thought of brian stuffing chocolate eclairs in your mouth when you're asleep another one who doesn't like "ta" - i'm so glad that it's not just me. i've got a big thing about manners. i'm sure matthew will test my patience many times but like you, if he doesn't say please or thank you he doesn't get.  his red bottom is slightly better but still not back to normal. i use bepathan (don't think that's spelt right) which is good so hopefully should see an improvement tomorrow.

well i'd better go and sort out my shopping list for sainsburys tomorrow - matthew loves the shopping trolley and squeals at the signs when we're in there. hopefully it'll tire him out before playgroup tomorrow afternoon. we're painting tomorrow so will have to remember to put some old clothes on him and maybe take his new sleeved painting bib. it'll be

    Hello again!

Twice in one day!!  I've had to come on here again to stop myself eating all the gorgeous chocolate birthday cake that my mom's brought round this afternoon - god I've had two huge slices already and four chocolates .

Thanks for the rest of your birthday wishes girls - had a fairly quiet day but going to make up for it over the next couple of days!

Sarah - glad you've explained the secret santa - sounds easy enough!  Haven't got a clue what to get though - I'm hopeless at pressie buying so whoever I get will probably guess as it'll be crap - lol!!   Forgot to pm my home address so will do in a min - durrrr!!!

Angela - ooo £320 for a dentist bill - what are you having done - sounds major to me - good luck!  You made me laugh about Brian stuffing choc eclairs into your mouth in your sleep - are you sure you didn't sneak that Mars bar the other night - lol!!

Oh well - better go and get dh's tea now - will be back any min and hopefully I can resist another piece of cake - well until later anyway!

Prob won't get on now until next week so have a good weekend everyone.

    Hi to everyone else.
