    Hi All

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAN!! Have a lovely day, hope the boys pamper you like mad!!

Bad news girls, i went to my diet class last night and i've put 2 lbs on, don't know how but it's happened, perhaps Brian stuffed 10 chocolate eclairs into my mouth whilst i was asleep, well thats the only thing i can think of

Oh my god, whats happened, where have you all been all week and then you go and post all in 12 hours, well i'll have to be quick because my boss has shovelled a load of work on my desk knowing he's off sick for the next fortnight or so

Jo, poor Matthew, hows his bottom now, a little less red i hope, and poor you ((hug)) pacing the floor isn't ideal. Oh i must tell you that i have always taught my children to say thank you and not 'ta' not snobby in the least, i mean they can't go through life just saying ta can they. Mattie is a wilful little devil though and if he doesn't feel like saying thank you then he wont, last night my sil offered him a choccie biscuit and he just wouldn't speak, he didn't get the choccie biscuit though, i think he was just messing about because he didn't really want it.

Heather, how lovely for you having a busy week with your friend visiting, sounds like you had a great time, hope you have a nice family day today. I can tell you're gearing yourself up to going back to work. Bet you were so proud when you were told that Callum has lovely manners, it makes it all seem worthwhile then doesn't it.

Sarah, You have got your work cut out now, organising this secret santa, have you not got enough to do with your time cooking, cleaning, working etc, seriously though thanks for organising it, it should be a bit of a laugh, i'm already racking my brains trying to think of something to buy and i don't know who i've got yet! Hope the Dentist goes okay, don't envy you, i've got a 45 minute appointment next Friday and i'm dreading it, and paying for it, £320,00 no less, i'm glad i've got insurance to claim against. Your weekend sounds like it'll be good, hope Nelson does like Santa, Matties not seen him yet but i don't think he's quite got the grasp of Christmas yet either.

Izzy, I think you are so good speaking Russian like you do, i'd love to learn a 2nd language properly, like Heather said i can speak schoolgirl French and English but thats it, we really are a lazy nation. My brother bought a property in Spain a few years ago and he went to night school to learn the language for two years before that, i was quite proud of him, he just didn't want to be ripped off by the spanish legal system and not know what was happening. Aw bless Maxim at school, so glad he's enjoying it.

Linda, glad you got Seren settled in Nursery and your dh sounds fab, can he give mine a few lessons please, Lol.

Hi to everyone else, must get back

    Angela xxx

Thought I'd explain the Secret Santa, while I'm quiet ha ha!!

Usually all the names of the group participating would be put in a hat and you would pull out a name and buy a prezzie for them and leave an anonymous parcel with the person you bought for name on, at a designated area, ie under the works Xmas tree.  So you know who your buying for but not who bought your present.  Not until afterwards anyway.

However at work this year there so many people we have decided to buy a unisex present and then the present will be numbered and you will pick a number for a present, so you will not only, not know who bought the present you will also not know who your buying for, interesting .

Because there are so few of us and allowing for the fact that we will have to use the good 'ol Snail Mail.  I thought we could work it like this:-

    • One person (me) will gather the addresses and allot each of us to buy another a present.  I will email you the name of the person and their address of who you have to buy for.
    • You buy a present for £5 - No food (including chocolate) or smellies.
    • Post the present in time to reach the recipient by 19th December, stating it is from Secret Santa.
    • This will then give us time to confirm we have our respective presents before Xmas.

Theoretically the only person who will know, who bought who's present will be me. But I'm sure we will all guess lol!  We can then confirm or reveal who we bought for after we have opened our presents.

    Does this sound OK?

Will it give you enough time once back in the UK Izzy?

Do have an email address Heather?

All email and addresses to me by Monday 24th Nov and I will distribute.

    Happy Christmas

    Part 3

Jo - Just got your pm - Is 'The house with the nice new drive way' officially in your address now? lol!  You sneaked in between my posts.  Glad Matthews having a nap, gives you a breather.

Izzy - Like I said to Jan I'm used being up early now.  lol at Maxim thinking he has to wait for you to get him out of bed, wish Nelson would be like that but I know the little tinker will think yeah freedom and run the hot tap in the bath room until it overflows or something.  Still persevering with the cot to cage him, hasn't tried climbing over since his fall think he learnt his lesson, I'm such a chicken, it's the same with potty training, his ready, I'm not!  He still love his milk but still will only drink it from a bottle, what do you do?

Well taken me ages to post this lot, been interrupted I don't know how many times. How inconsiderate!

Will post later with the Secret Santa info.

    Part 2

Heather - Sounds like you had a lovely few days meeting old friends, alway nice and hope you have a nice day out with Mark today.  Gave up with Nelson and Sleeping bags early as well, he hated them and managed to do Houdini's get himself out them.  I have him in fleecy sleep suits with legs at the moment (well he will only wear one out of the three I have, but that's another story), need to try to keep him as he kicks his covers off all the time.  We were brought up with good table manners thin kit was the era, would like to bring bring Nelson up like it, but he won't sit still at the moment for nothing, so trying to make him sit at the table it a mare, although Leanne manages it, but he just plays me I think.  I would have been fuming about your friend being late, as I am never late I think everyone should be the same and I have to really talk myself out being angry with the one's I know will be late and allow for it, tell them to meet an hour earlier tee hee!

Jo - Hope you had a better night with Matthew, how's his nappy rash now!  Does have a cold too!  Big ((hug)) to you, as I know what it is like walking the floor with them.  Leanne is always busy in the mornings, what with parents dropping off children and having to get her boys ready for school, so I opted to give Nelson his breakfast first as I know he is really hungry and wouldn't let me have breakfast without him having some.  It is an Independence thing, he wants to feed the yogurt to himself but won't stay still, horrible.  Lol at your friend's lol spreading the poo, had a couple of close calls myself.  Nelson loves the breaded chicken shapes too.  Plus you can get fishes as well.  The baby show sounded good, lol at the painting aprons, maybe I could use them and I have some in the bottom draw too, not that he will use them for painting lol, involves getting his hands dirty.  Are you going to join the Secret Santa?  Think I still have your address from sending the nappies somewhere.

    hi everyone

got a few minutes to myself whilst matthew is having a nap - yes that's right, he's having a morning nap (yipee).  i'll carry on from last night ................

angela - ((hugs)) to you with brian on lates all week - ians shift this week is lates (working till midnight) but he's off this weekend. well done at your spin class - no aches you must be superfit.

sarah - lol at nelson eating better at leannes. my friend says exactly the same thing about her son when he's at nursery. i agree that it's peer pressure and want to do what the other children are doing.  glad you had a better morning on tuesday - isn't it funny how they can be little monkeys one day and an absolute delight the next!  i'm up for secret santa - i'll pm my address to you - hee hee, could have some fun with it LOL.

jan - happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear jan .... happy birthday to you   hope you have a fantastic day xxx  well done thomas standing up. matthew can pull himself up but then crashes down on his bottom still with his legs straight. it's amazing what they learn though in their 1st year.  glad you had a good night out.

linda - great to hear from you. glad the nursery went well. bet it was good doing the course with others that were missing brain cells - lol. mine still havent returned 16 months on.  how are you feeling about saturday??? sounds like you'll be straight back to it.

heather - wow, you've been busy catching up and chatting   LOL at lillie not having a cool drink. matthew is exactly the same - funny how they just know what they like and what they definately don't!!!   another who doesn't like "ta" - really thought it was just me because i hear so many mums saying it. LOL at excusing yourself from the dining table. my parents were exactly the same - then my dad always thought it was funny to say "but you can take the chairs" - my dad is strange lol.

izzy - hows the multi tasking going at work???  lol at telling ian that i was catching up on important news - i'll remember that one for next time. he's on lates now for the rest of the week so i have full control over the television and wont get moaned at for spending all night on the laptop - so there are bonuses to having a dh that works shifts LOL at you getting on and wishing jan a happy birthday, made me smile.  i'm very impressed by your language skills - i take it you can also write it as well as speak. since it's now been over 20 years since leaving school i don't think i could even attempt to speak french - really wouldn't want to embarrass myself.

well going to go and put the kettle on and have 5 minutes to myself before matthew stirs.

hope you're all having a good day

    xx jo xx

    Hi girls

Phew what a morning, first chance I've had to get on here!  It's like buses on here, first part of the week, you get nothing and then you 5 in row.

Woke this morning with another cold and a stiff neck, think Nelson may have the cold too, as he was awake again at 5am, although I don't get up at that time, I find it hard to go back to sleep, with him nattering away and calling 'mummy' hopefully, no chance mate!  If I went in to see him he'd want to get up!  And all through this Daddy is snoring his head off .

Got the dentist later today as well, will have to leave early for that - what is it with dentists, they only open during office hours and during the week, put you through agony and you have to pay a fortune for the pleasure of it!

Might actually have somthing to do this weekend, the local child minding association are putting on an Xmas party for the kids and it's down the social club we go to anyway, so should be fun, Santa will there, will see how long Nelson lasts before he passes out!

Jan - Happy Birthday .  Glad you had a good night out the meal sound good.  Believe your out tomorrow have a nice time.  Hope you haven't got this cold for your birthday.  Laughed at Eoghan's hair, it does look a bit like birds nest.  I'm used getting up at 5.45am now, but I need to get up at that time to get him to Leanne's by 8am and me into work for 8.30am.  Look forward to the weekends when I might  actually get to lie in for an hour, whoop dee door!  Noticed you posted before I had a chance Happy birthday again.  My Nan was Welsh and spoke Welsh, she did teach me some words but I've forgot them all.  Even she forgot how to speak it in the end she did leave Wales in the 1930's, when the pit near her village had a mega cave in they just closed it as left bodies down there as a grave.  Haven't a clue what the name of the place was, did take her back in the 1970's and she didn't recognise the place.  Well that cheered you up.  Sorry about the cold know how you feel!

Angela - Hope last night went better, big ((hug)) for you rushing around for James football practise.  How'd you weight in go?  Hope your mil gets better soon.  It is a sad state of affairs when working mothers have to resort to taking sickies, when child care goes wrong, but if you need the money (and who doesn't at the moment) you have no choice.  Hope it works anyway.  Not surprised about your boss taking the next 2 weeks sick radiotherapy is nasty and his dad having a heart attack too!  I only met Ches who had the IVF after she had Ben at group, so I didn't have the guilt thing like you, but I think she felt a little guilty when she fell pregnant again and new I wouldn't be having anymore, which is silly.  Do feel guilty about a girl at work though, she's in her 30's and been trying for years, to the point where she lost so much weight with it all.  We all cringe a little inside, when we talk about our lo's in front of her.

Linda - Glad your training went well and good luck with your first flight this weekend.  It is strange when you first let on your own again with a baby in tow, hope you didn't miss her too much.  Also glad Seren enjoyed nursery your dh is so good.  Your welcome to join in the Secret Santa if you like, more the merrier.

Well this is part 1, will start again in a minute

Izzy -  As Thomas will be learning Welsh at school my hv said to me a while ago to get him to watch some of the children's programmes on the Welsh channel we get here so he gets used to hearing a different language - apparently if they hear a different language in the first 9 months of their lives they find it much easier to learn foreign languages.  They have quite a good programme on at 12.30pm for an hour for kids with singing/cartoons etc in Welsh - all sounds like gobblydegook to me though - lol!

    Hi everyone else.

Right I'm off to spoil myself with a custard cream now - well it is my birthday!

    Hello everyone,

Thanks for the birthday wishes - oh another year old - 38 today .  These birthdays seem to come round so quick!  Had loads of nice cards and a few pressies so far - mom and dad coming round this afternoon to visit.  Have spent this morning cooking meatballs for Thomas - god I know how to live .  Have woken up this morning with a streaming cold - thought I was getting one - nice pressie for my birthday!

Angela - hope mil's op goes ok Monday - did you manage to sort nursery out for Mattie?  Hope the weigh in went ok last night.

Linda - lovely to hear from you - you made me laugh about the course leaders being slow with you - sounds like it was very intensive though.  Nice that Seren got on well at nursery - I bet that's put your mind at rest at bit - great that they let you book just the days you need as well - saves a lot of hassle I should think.  So back at work on Sat - are you looking forward to it??  Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Heather - thought you must be busy busy.  Sounds like you having a great time this week with all those meals out and meeting up with friends.  Nice that Lillie's dropped another bottle now eh?  I remember when Thomas dropped 2 of his things just seemed so much easier without having to plan everything round bottle feeding!  Agree that Rachel needs to go from X Factor - I like Ruth and Alexandra - Diana gets on my nerves keep waving her hands around her face when she's singing - lol!   You made me laugh about getting into a sweat when trying to do car seat straps up.  Thomas had a forward facing seat a couple of months ago and I just can't get to grips with doing the buckle up at all - have to make sure I'm out the house at least 10 minutes before I need to get going just so I can get the bloody thing done up!!

Jo - oh poor Matthew and his bottom!  It looks so sore doesn't it when they get nappy rash and all you can do is slap on the cream.  Thanks for the advice about armbands - I must start trying to get him to wear them when we go swimming - haven't been for a few weeks now - was thinking about going this weekend but won't be if cold not much better.   Know what you mean about the time it takes going swimming though - I hate it if I can't get one of the larger cubicles with the changing trays in - last time had to struggle balancing Thomas on a little bench while I got dried and changed - not my idea of fun!    Had to laugh at your friends lo smearing his nappy all over himself - oh look what we've got to look forward to - lol!  I'm so surprised that people didn't buy more at the car boot sale - you'd think with money being tight for people they'd relish the idea of a bargain.  Oh well - like you say at least it paid for your ticket into the Baby Show.

Izzy - lol at you being the first to wish me happy birthday - thanks!   What is it about men being selectively deaf?  I think it must be a trait they're all born with - lol.  Don't worry about being hazy about Secret Santa - I'm not sure how it works either so I'm hoping Sarah will enlighten us!  So you have to bring your laptop and mobile with you over Christmas - you'll have to "accidentally" leave them off to get a bit of peace .  Does it ever get confusing having to speak in Russian all the time and then when you come over here you can just speak English?  I bet it seems strange.  I don't think I'd be very good at learning a language these days - as others have said it does get harder the older you get.  As Thomas will be learning Welsh at school my hv said to me a while ago to get him to watch some of the children's programmes on the Welsh chann

Angela - you did have a bad day yesterday. Why is it that when one thing goes wrong, you can guarantee that everything else will go wrong too! Hope the weigh-in went OK. I hate dieting. The problem is that it is constant - not just here and there to lose a couple of pounds, but becomes a whole life-style thing. Hope your MIL's operation is nothing serious and goes well. Thanks for your info on Mattie's sleeping habits! Funny isn't it that in the UK we feel that 7.30-8.00 is a late bedtime (Maxim goes to bed at 8.00 as I get home late) but here if there is anyone around at bedtime they ALWAYS say - "he's going to bed already?". I just say very firmly "yes"! Their kids go to bed when it suits the parents (10, 11, 12!) and then the parents complain that they have no peace. Work it out! On top of that the child is always overtired and therefore pretty vile! So Mattie is sleeping about the same as Maxim - I guess that is about right then. I am dreading the day that the nap goes. I won't get a minutes peace at the weekends or on aeroplanes!

Linda - your training course sounds good - it must have been much easier that you were all mums returning after maternity leave. You were all in the same state of baby-brain! Abu Dhabi and Muscat must be a long trip - do you get a couple of nights stopover before the return trip? Sounds like your nursery is great and your dh sounds too good to be true! I have to leave Maxim to go to Baku on Sunday for a couple of days. Dh will have him evenings and mornings and I am dreading it. If it weren't for Nadya being around Monday and Tuesday daytime, I think I would come back to chaos.

Heather - you've been have a lovely time! You're probably right that everyone is trying to make the most of you before you go back to work. Lillie sounds like she is doing so well - know her own mind eh?! Maxim is still in a sleeping bag now - he gets around in it so well. I thought I'd have to take him out of it once he was walking, but he zooms around the bedroom in it like a cute little slug! It is something about the Scandinavians and the Dutch - they speak excellent English. Wouldn't that be great if you could all come round and help me in the office! I'd love it!

Jo - Poor Matthew - hope his bottom is looking better this morning and that you call got some sleep. My car is still in pieces. To be fair to dh, we don't have a garage and by the time he gets back from work it is dark, so he only has the weekends to work on it and we don't have places like Halfords that stock spare parts. Somethings you can get and somethings you wait weeks for. I am sick of it though! Dh still doesn't speak English - as you say it is harder to learn a language as you get older. He is picking up bits with Maxim, but like the old school reports used to say "could try harder!"   I started learning Russian when I was about 16, my degree is in Russian and I have spend a lot of time in Russia and a Russian-speaking environment, so I am fluent. Not bilingual though. There are still things I find hard to explain sometimes, but I spend most of every day speaking Russian. Ian was moaning that he wanted to go to bed but you were sitting on it with the laptop?! - Cheek! I hope you told him that you were catching up on some very important correspondence!

Right, back to work. It is me against the world again today!

    Izzy xx

    Hello there my friends!

You know one of the best things about being so many hours ahead of you all is that I get to be the first to say...

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAN!!!!!

Jan - hope you have a really great day and that your "men" spoil you! Well done to Thomas pulling himself up. He'll learn to sit down again soon - especially when confidence overtakes him, he lets go and lands on his bum. Nappies are great padding! You ask what the office here will do without me for a month - fortunately we are going into the quiet time of year (winter is usually pretty dead) but I have a laptop for emails and a mobile phone. I don't get much peace! Hope your sore throat didn't turn into anything more. Oh and just in case you missed it above - happy birthday!!!!

Sarah - thanks for the book! What a horrible time you have to get up! I should stop complaining. Nelson sounds like he is really good in the mornings though. Once Maxim wakes up, I have to go and get him or he screams the place down. Ever since we had a "fight" about getting him to stay in bed when he goes to bed, he seems to think he can't get out of bed in the mornings either. So he sits on his bed and cries til someone goes to get him (someone being me as dh is selectively deaf). Don't really know how to get over this one, I just keep hoping he will grow out of it. I know what you mean about an earlier bed time - my problem is that I get home from work at about 7 (just before usually) so by the time we have had a game, bath, story etc it is 8. Anyway, I have been playing with this nap times and I hope we'll eventually get it right! Maxim only dropped his milk at night about 10 days ago. I got sick of pouring most of it down the sink and after 3 nights where he didn't even touch it, I just stopped giving it to him. He has a Magic Cup with water by his bed for if he wants a drink. Funnily enough last night was the first time he has asked for milk since I stopped giving it to him. I just said he could have some water if he wanted - he had a couple of sips and was happy. I think they just grow out of the bedtime milk when they are ready. Hope Nelson slept a bit longer today. Maxim woke at 6.55, so not too bad. Thanks for your info!
I nearly forgot - I'm up for secret Santa, but am a bit hazy about how it works! If you think I can join in from out here, I'd love to. I'll pm you my email address.

I'm splitting my post now - have lost too much too many times to risk it!

jan - the first few times though were awful and very stressful. the pool we go to is great and only used by babies & children - it's also used by "aqua babies" - the ones where the babies go under water. so really nice and clean - our local council baths on the other hand are totally disgusting!!! i didn't take any of matthew things to the car boot but had some of my friends baby clothes and only sold one t-shirt and one hat!!! i'd have thought people would have been fighting over it all. it was all boys newborn and 0-3 months and good stuff from "next" "gap" etc. another one who doesn't like "ta" so glad it's not just me. oh my god - x factor - what is going on!!!! i can't stand rachel, i think she has an awful attitude - get her out!!!!!!  hope you have a great birthday and get lots of pampering

angela - ((hugs)) to you when you lost your post - happened to me lots of times and normally my fault not bountys.  huge congratulations to your friend and her little girl.  i bet she'll be spoilt rotten   about the swimming - i really have to force myself to go because all in all it's a 2 hour outing - with the journey, getting ready, swimming, getting dried and then back home. if he didn't enjoy it so much i don't think i'd bother - it's very tiring.

better go for now and pop back on tomorrow to catch up with the rest - ian's moaning that he wants to go to bed and i'm sat on it with the laptop LOL

    xx jo xx

have a great birthday tomorrow jan

    hi everyone

well my plan was to come on here last night but had an awful night with matthew. he's got a very red bottom and sounds bunged up so could be teeth. ended up giving him some calpol to settle him - as tried to settle him in his cot, then took him out and gave him cuddles and evern walking around with him in his room didn't help so out came the calpol. he eventually settled properly about midnight   still got a red bottom today so will see how he is tomorrow. gave him some nappy free time after his bath.

you've all been really busy on here the last few days .....

izzy - sounds like you had a good weekend.  is your car fixed now??  from previous comments you've made it sounds like you really need to rely on your car.  glad it's not just me with the "ta" comment - like you i can't explain why but i just don't want matthew saying it.  the dry in 8 months came from a session our HV's do at the clinic. i think the idea is that they are completely dry in 8 months so absolutely nappy free without you having to take nappies out just in case!!! i suppose during that time little accidents can happen.  the joys of parenthood - lol. we'll all moan when they don't need or rely on us anymore and we'll want our little ones back how rude of your aunt to suggest that your husband should speak english!!!  we make assumptions that everyone should be able to speak our language.  does your husband speak english now?? i have to admit that i wouldn't like to start learning a new language now - it's so much harder when you're older. how do you find speaking russian?  lol at car boot sale - the credit crunch has definately hit hard!! at least it paid for my ticket into the baby show in sunday

sarah - ((hugs)) to you for the other day - god what i nightmare. i'm really not a morning person either so god help matthew. fortunately my mum & dad give him breakfast when i drop him off so i just give him his milk.  i can though already that he's trying to stamp some authority over eating. he wont eat his own food unless he has some of yours as well.  tonight i made him birds eye chicken space shapes (really good, 100% chicken breast with peas & sweetcorn - in breadcrumbs) and a couple of oven chips - he slowly munched his way through them and loved every minute of it.  he's just desperate for indepenence these days but sometimes i just don't have the time. my friend sent my a text this morning because just as she was about to leave for nursery, her 16 month old son had a poo, so she went to change him and he grabbed the dirty nappy and smeared it all over himself!!!!! not a good start to her day.  baby show was really good. i only bought a couple of little overalls he can paint in (should have got you some for nelson - lol), a childrens rain stick which is great and a shirt from the mothercare stall - from the babyk range - i've already got his christmas day outfit so he can wear this new shirt on boxing day. had to laugh at your poo comments - always know when matthews having a poo because he goes bright red in the face and looks like he's going to explode LOL

jan - some advice on armbands - try and get thomas just to wear them when you take him swimming. the girl who runs our lessons left it too late (it should really have been when they turned 1 but it was the summer holidays) so now that we are just starting to use them we all had a nightmare - i think again it's the lo's trying to push the boundaries.  it's taken about 4 weeks just to get to the stage where he'll actually wear them without a fuss but only once we're in the pool - i put them on in the changing room and tell him that he can't go in the pool without them. he winges a bit but then all forgotten once we're in the water. the first

Hi Sarah - OMG! What a start to the day you had with Nelson on monday! I could totally relate to that sweating feeling when trying to get out the front door in a hurry! It's a horrible feeling eh?? And its normally more sweating when I can't get the baby car seat straps to click together, by the time I have sat down in the drivers seat and checked the mirror I look so flustered - what a good look!!? I too detest being late for anything, must be inbuilt into all of us! My best friend must be one of the the worst timekeepers of all time, she once kept us all waiting for an hour at a train station, we were all on a girlie day out in Brighton, scorching hot day!, and we missed the direct train which only took 30 minutes. we had to endure a 90 minute journey that stopped at every station, screaming childrens bored and crying, one of my other friends got travel sick and needed to use a carrier bag to vomit in! another friend moaned continually about the heat and kept saying are we neary there yet, like a big kid. Nightmare!!

Hi Angela - Sounds like you are doing well with your spin class then eh??? I never get the aches and pains the day after, it as always the day after that! Usually in the form of being unable to walk, think if I tried to excerise at the moment I would fail to even manage a crawl afterwards! LOL! Never mind a few shifts back at work and I will running around like a headless chicken! I keep meaning to buy a Wii Fit, just to break me in gently LOL!! Really pleased for your friend and good news! I know only how quicky pre-eclampsia effects both mum and babe! scary stuff eh?

Hi Izzy - Didn't you know??? Women are fabulous at multi-tasking! LOL! seriously men would be lost without us! Pity you are so far away as we could come around and help you, we could all have a natter and work at the same time! Thats fab you are coming over for the festive season, no wonder you are on a christmas countdown! just read your posting about our little island being terribly ignorant when it comes to languages, how true!! Mark and I met a family, 2 adults 2 young teenagers last year whilst we were away on a break, they were Danish, they could all speak fluent english, and what's more they were on holiday visiting friends in England and were due to return to Bejing where they had lived for 6 years (Dad worked for Phillips i think) The whole family could speak Mandarin, the two children were better than the adults! How embarrassed did we feel! i have my schoolgirl french and spanish! And can't remember half of it!

Hi linda - Great that Seren is settling in well at nursery. That's really good you get to update your skills and do exams before you go back! Suppose you need to really as security being of the upmost importance. I will be back doing study days and mandatory updates not to mention emergency drills when I go back, I will be able to retrieve my brain from work because I left it there after lillie was born! Will you get a chance to see Abu Dhabi and Muscat this weekend or is it a quick turn around flight????

Hi Ladies - Been ever so busy last few days, friends have been appearing left, right and centre, think the word is out I am back at work after the New Year. Went out for lunch monday and tuesday for dinner (well tapas and a wee drink of wine!), spent 4 hours over lunch here today just chatting non stop with one of my friends that I hadn't seen in 10 years!! just gave each other such a big hug when she turned up on my doorstep! She got made redundant last week and starts her new job tommorrow, so we had lots to celebrate new-ish baby, new job and our friendship! Then I am out with Mark tommorow as he is day off, so a bit of family time. Then I am rounding the week off by meeting up with one of the girls I trained with on sunday for lunch, only see her a few times a year as she works in Doncaster. So it's a bit of a busy one!!!!

I haven't even started my christmas shopping yet!! (Shock! Horror!) Going to have to have a re-think about Lillies present as she is using her highchair like a rocking horse! She just giggles non stop and finds it really funny - so based on that it sounds the more preferred pressie!!

She has also managed to drop another bottle this week, I was taken aback as its only been a few weeks since she dropped from 4 to 3. But in saying that she does eat a hell of a lot and gets plenty of calcium enriched foods (She is a yogurt and cheese addict! - just hope she dosen't start hiding cheese like her brother did!) and is still drinking her "warm" juice, refuses it cool though! Pushes it right out her way if its not to her taste! LOL!

Hi Jan - Good for Thomas standing up! Lillie never lasted that long in her sleeping pod/bag once she was on her feet in the cot, she got irritable and kept trying to walk in it resulting in smaking her head or face off the bars, so we had to go back to covers, arrggghh! She kicks them off during the night now!!! She has worked out how to get down from standing - she just lands on her bottom, think she has worked out it well padded with her nappy! Yeah i know what you mean about losing hte plt a bit with Little Dorit, i never watched the first 20 minutes at hte begining and I am totally lost! Had to laugh when you mentioned using loads of hairspray, I used to back combe my hair in the 80's for that big hair look, god what a sight! My mum always shouting that she coudn't breath with the amount i would spray on! I too watched X-Factor on Saturday, Rachel needs to go, she sang her second song entirely flat throughout! Loved Leona lewis singing her version of the Snow Patrol song! I like Ruth and Alexandra!

Hi Jo - How is Matthew getting on with his naps now???? I finally think Lillie has sorted hers out as that third bottle was throwing her out of sinc, now that she has been refusing it she seems to have settled back into a better routine! What a bummer about the boot fair! i was waiting to hear how you got on as I need to do one too! The main boot fair in Edinburgh charge a fortune for table and rail hire and you cannot use your own! Hmmmmm! You reminded me of my own upbringing when you mentioned the word "ta" my parents were really persistant in ensuring my brother and I never used slang words. We were always being reminded to say please, thank you, and we had to excuse ourselves to leave the table! I did the same with Callum and everyone comments on how polite he is for a teenager, you are not a snob, you just doing what is good!

Right ladies I will need to post the rest later as someone is tugging at me!

hi everyone....sorry sorry again for being absent, been on a training course and staying with friends who arent on line yet. had 6 days full of exams and practicals, like jumping out of aircraft escape slides....far too old for all of this. was on a course with 16 other mums back from maternity so was very interesting. the trainers were very slow with us and i think they realised we didnt have a brain cell left amongst us. dd was great in her first 3 days at nursery and enjoyed being with my sister the other days. was a bit strange only having myself to please!! back home now and start work properly on saturday...going to abu dhabi and muscat, but back on monday and got 3 days off and then my part time week. nursery being great and letting me book in advance just the days i need. my husband has been superb as he picks dd up at 2,30 and looks after her completely. will take me a while to look through the posts and find out what everyone has been up to....but will chat soon ...linda x

    Hi All

After a mad morning i thought i'd have a quiet afternoon but i thought wrong, there was a big general meeting so i was called on for head counting, not a nice job

Last night went from bad to worse, i forgot it was James's footy training night so had to go there and then take Mattie to Mil's, she's now told me she's having an operation on Monday and has been told to rest for a few days after it so she can't have Mattie so i have to call on Nursery again, hope they can still fit him in otherwise think i might throw a sickie, something i've not had to do yet. So i finally cooked James some pasta at 8 o clock, i had a couple of quorn sausage and Brian had to make do with the chippy, don't think he was complaining though.

Weigh in night tonight and i don't know why but i feel like i've put weight on today, hope not because it really disheartens me.

Sarah, so glad Nelson was in a good mood this morning, i love it when they do the belly laughs, i have to wake Mattie in a morning and to get him in a good mood i tickle him till he starts to giggle but i don't think i.ve had real laughs in the morning, he's not a morning person just like his mum. Sorry to hear your boss still not recovered 100%, my boss is two weeks through his radiotherapy now and he's starting to feel it, i think he's taking next week and the week after as sick days and this morning he got bad news that his dads had a heart attack and is in hospital so he's not too good at the minute. Thanks for the wishes for my friend, don't know if you felt like this but when i got pregnant with Mattie they were at the point where they thought they would never have their own baby so when i told her i was pregnant i felt so guilty, this in turn made her feel bad because she didn't want anyone to feel like that, still i think she was worth the wait.

Izzy, I've said it before but i think you're superwoman the way you run things at work and all the travelling, bet you can't wait to be home for Christmas this year. On the subject of Matties sleep, he goes to bed about 8ish unless he's really tired then it's 7.30 (i know it seems late but he's always done this) and i wake him at 6.45 in the week when he has an hours nap in the day, at weekend he wakes up about 7.30 and has an hour in the daytime if i'm lucky so all in all he has about 12 hours sleep a day, hope that helps you a bit.

Jan, Have a very happy birthday tomorrow if you don't come back on, i hope you have a lovely day, your meal sounds nice, shame about the curry though, Lol. I know you won't be doing your wrapping on Christmas eve, you're far too organised for that Mrs, i did have you in mind when i was wrapping mine, i thought, Mmm Jan would be so proud of me, ha ha.

Well must get back the interupptions i've had you would not believe!!

Hi to Jo, Heather, Paula and Linda

    Hi girls,

hope everyone ok - had a lovely night out last night - feeling a little delicate today though!!  Choose a curry in the end but they did loads of other stuff too - spoilt for choice on the menu and the puds were delicious .  Have a really sore throat this morning and feel like I'm getting another cold or maybe it's just from last night - we'll see.

Thomas pulled himself up for the first time yesterday on furniture downstairs - really wobbly and once he's up he can't work out how to get down again so ends up balling his eyes out!!

Angela - sounds like you had a good weekend - good to get out and have a gossip with the girls.  Well done for wrapping those Christmas pressies - still haven't started mine - keep thinking I must do them but then something else crops up - I can see I'm going to be doing it Christmas Eve at this rate .    How lovely for your friend having little baby Alexandra - especially after eight years of trying - I bet they're on cloud nine.  I'm very impressed your keeping your spin class up - no aches or pains this morning then - don't let on to satan otherwise he'll be cracking the whip next week - lol!

Izzy - you're so busy at the moment!  You made me laugh about being a woman as no man could cope with so many things going on at once - how true that is - what is it about us women that we can juggle so many things??  Know what you mean about answering the phone all the time - when the secretaries were on hols at work I had to man the phones and you just can't get anything done.  Made me laugh having to lock the front door to go for a pee - hope you managed it - lol!  Like Sarah says how on earth are work going to cope without you for a month??  Sounds like you run the place yourself at times - I bet they'll miss you.  Bet you're looking forward to coming home for Christmas - let the countdown begin!

Sarah - you made me laugh about Eoghan's eyebrows in X Factor.  What's that he's got on his head as well - made me giggle the other week when Louis said his hair was starting to look like a birds nest.   Oh that's so sweet Nelson tucking his bear and giraffe up into bed - what a cutie.   Good to hear you had a less stressful morning with Nelson today!  Omg you get up at 5.45 in the week - I'd be soooo worn out by the end of the day.  You must be superwoman!  I'm up for the secret santa - I'll pm you my email in a minute if I can work out how to do it!!

Hi Jo & Heather - where are you????

    Jan.
