Hi Everyone
Thought I 'd just post before I do my shopping list for tomorrows fight round the shops. Haven't a clue what to get this year. Apart from a party outfit for myself for our annual company binge. Would also like to find Nelson a Xmas t-shirt, but the shops only seam to cater for up to 1 year.
Sorry my post on Monday must have really mangled, and seams to missed a bit. I did write that I'd just heard that Anja was in car crash Friday night, she was hit from behind and had whip lash and been experiencing some stomach cramps. Which is worrying as she is about 5/6 weeks pregnant and had lost a baby early this year. I would have gone up the Walk In centre up the hospital, but she has had some bad experiences up there I think and wanted to wait for her doctor.
Jo - Lol at Matthew liking the kitchen, Nelson is also a Kitchen addict and I can't cordon it off either, as my ground floor is open plan, watch your fridge, cooker and washing machine. He changes the oven temperature or settings on the washing machine and I've ended up with burnt food and tumbled dried plastic backed bibs lol! I do have screw fixed stair gates, but mainly because of the way my stairs are, pressure fixed ones would not have fitted. I would say just make sure you buy ones that you have to lift slightly to slot in at the bottom as well as the lock at the top. Leanne had pressure fixed one's and they only had the lock at the top and Nelson learnt to undo them very quickly. But then he's had a door fixation (which includes stair gates) since he was about 7 months. I remember watching one Supernanny, where these parents had 3 sets of twins under 5. The oldest set where nearly 5 and the mother still had them in nappies at night and the younger ones had feeding problems, but she was force feeding the year old pair with pureed baby food because they wouldn't eat. And both the parents were university professors. Never had a clue.
Izzy - Gosh 3 days on the trot! Actually just thought about nut allergies this morning, gave Nelson some Honey nut Weetabix mini's for breakfast without thinking and he devoured them and then thought oh god! But he was fine. Nuts allergies can be really bad! But luckily we don't have the family history like you. My friend wouldn't be able to afford to pay for a scan, she doesn't work now and her husband doesn't bring home that much.
Angela - Walking up right yet? How'd Mattie's photo shoot go the other day?
Hi to everyone else better get on now, I've waffled again.

Hi Everyone!
Another early post. I have learnt it is the only way to get on here.
Heather - in the Winter we are 5 hours ahead. I am not one to get up in the middle of the night and sit down at the computer! I like my sleep far too much for that, though since I had Maxim my sleep patterns have really been disrupted. My mother always said that since she had my brother and me, she has never slept well again. Gives me a lot to look forward to! I don't blame you being scared of food allergies. My brother is allergic to nuts - not peanuts like most, but hazelnuts, brazil nuts and probably walnuts. It is a nightmare as when you look at even bread, half the time it comes with a nut warning! He lives in the USA though and it seems to be a bit easier there. He has been rushed to A&E having trouble breathing but nothing like your brother. That must have been really frightening. I had never heard of the pepper allergy before either. I wonder why it is increasing. I guess with Callum it must be easier with his food allergy now that he is older - he will think more about what he is eating. I am really worried about introducing nuts to Maxim as so many of these things are hereditary. Once he is older we'll try it at home where we have relatively good medical services, just in case! Don't start me on the NHS. My experience of hospitals is the same as most - the medical staff (doctors, nurses, midwives etc) are excellent on the whole, it is the management that is so bad and the cleaning is appalling! I won't start...

Sarah - like Angela, I missed you writing about your friend's accident. Poor thing. I hope she is OK. I can't believe they can't get her a scan earlier. I bet she is worried sick. Could she pay and have the scan done privately? It might be worth it for the peace of mind. LOL about Maxim joining Angela at her spin class! I can just picture it - as long as there was music he'd be happy! I'm glad Nelson was better for you on Monday night. He obviously just wanted his mummy at the weekend. Doesn't make it any easier on us though!
Angela - feeling less stiff today? Hope work is settling down a bit too.
Jo - stairgates...in the UK I have one of the pressure type at the top of the stairs. Over here dh had to built what we have as most people live in flats and don't have the problem so you can't buy anything. So we have lovely wooden gates with slid bolts! I would go for the pressure type if I were you - you'll have a mark on the wall when you remove it, but no holes! Russian is considered to be sort of in the middle for difficulty. Harder than the standard European languages, but easier than Chinese etc. It's all the same to Maxim as he is just absorbing it like English. As with all languages, they get harder to learn the older you are. I'm just waiting for the little monkey to start correcting my Russian as he gets older! The wooden toys are definitely the best - Maxim has some horrible plastic bricks here as that was all I could get him and he loves playing with our old wooden ones when we go home. That child on Supernanny would not last long in my house LOL! What a monster. I remember watching it once (or a similar programme) where the parents had a fight over the dinner table because father told little girl to take her feet off the table and mother told him to leave her alone as she isn't feeling well. It descended into a full blown row in front of the 2 small kids. All that was 5 minutes after they had been told that no matter what they feel, they should support each other in front of the kids. Believe me, I know it can be hard to do sometimes, but come on!!!
Jan - guess you are really busy. Look forward to hearing your news soon.
Hi Linda and Paula.
Take care,
Izzy xx

hi everyone
well matthew tried to stand up in the bath again - after throwing his toys out of it - lol. funny how it's only the bath he want to stand up in. ian managed to get him to have a nap this afternoon so he was in a great mood tonight. he's a litttle tinker as well, no matter what room he's in, he always makes a beeline for the kitchen!!!
wanted to ask about stairgates now that he's getting more adventureous (and fearless). i'm looking at the automatic closing gate but wondered if you all have the pressure fitted gate at the top of your stairs because someone said they'd been told to get the screw fix ones at the top in case lo's fall into them. obviously don'e want matthew to hurt himself but would also like not to put huge holes in my walls!!!!! any advise ????
izzy - good thinking coming on here first thing
wow, it'll be fantastic maxim speaking in english and russian (excuse my naivety - is russian a difficult language?) - i bet it's just second nature to him. lol at him loving anything that spins. love the old toys as well - matthew has a few wooden toys which i much prefer to the plastic ones. if i was getting something matthew was addicted to, it would be road signs LOL. he points and squeals at them when we're out. supermarkets are his favourite because they hang from the ceilings. well done also on the potty training. don't they usually reckon that the average age is 2 years 4 months - mmmm, we've got a bit of time yet. ohhh, wish you could have seen supernanny last night. like you said it was the parents who created the monster as they had no discpline in place at all and their 2 year old would get out of bed at 4am go into their bedroom and hit them until they woke up - then the mother would scream at the child and so the tantrums began. as you said though, so much easier on the outside looking in. wanted to say as well that i loved your comment "hi my friends" - aww, lovely.heather - gosh, the story of your brother in a&e sounds terrifying
how's your brother doing at the moment by the way. hope he's still on the straight and narrow. loooove your descriptions of lillie, always makes me smile. LOL at your dh missing the airport signs - manchester airport is a minefield as well, don't envy anyone making a trip there if they don't know the area. doesn't excuse missing huge signs on the motorway though LOL. i daren't read back my posts because of spelling errors. i'm always rushing the posts and love catching up on everyones news.sarah - keep us posted on your friend ((hugs)). you just made me think about matthews naps - we've not been able to get out much recently because of the weather and think that could be why he's not having his usual daytime nap. something to think about. love your tip on the bragging mothers. i'll definately try that next time. they just get my heckles up and i become really defensive. should maybe take a deep breath first. always want to say"that's great, aren't they really clever" but don't think i could say it without sounding sarcastic - lol. ohh, i'll get the camera out tomorrow bathtime - god you've given me lots of ideas tonight, thank you.
angela - busy, busy, busy again. don't work too hard.
hi to jan - you must be working hard to, paula & linda.

Hi - Won't do such a long winded post today

My friend is ok after her car accident, but she has whip lash and has been getting cramps in her stomach, but they can't give her a scan to make sure every things ok until Friday, so I think she's really nervous.
Nelson a bit better last night, think it is because he was kept amused yesterday, need to think of things to wear him out at the weekend, the weather was pants last weekend and never did much. I wouldn't mind having Sundays to myself, at least I could take Nelson out and do something with him, but Jasp never wants to do anything when his home.
Heather - Laughed at Callums cheese obsession, I'm saving these stories up too, for when Nelson is older and 'the bath pictures'! He does love his cheese though, he'd eat it for breakfast if I let him. Think the NHS needs proper Matrons back like your great aunts, that would sort them out, trouble is, I just think of Hattie Jakes lol! Oh Heather you have to download the spellchecker from Word, somehow, I'd be lost without it.
Angela - It was a nice of gesture Friday, but why do men always get their timing wrong (in my case his timing is never). Sounds like you enjoyed it though and the boys. The lo's alway surprise you, when think they take so much in their stride. Yet to see if Nelson will freak at Father Christmas like he did last year lol! Must be hard for you come Football season, with James and his football and no Brian to help, but Mattie sounded rather cosy. Go for the OTT Secret Santa, always good for laugh. Know what you mean about the books, Nelson will only look at books at bedtime and the same old ones, he loves picking out the characters now though. Hope you can move after your spin class last night.
Jo - We shouldn't watch Supernanny, although if I find it on I will watch it, just for tips, but it frightens me to death that Nelson will turn out like some of them children. Or even worse turn into a teenager who hates his parents, Heather and Angela boys sound ok though, hope he turns out like those. When I ever I met parents who bragged about their children, I just used to tell them that Nelson may not be the brightest spark or the earliest at anything, but I love him to pieces and as long as his happy I don't wish him to grow up too soon, I want my baby for ever. They shut up then. I know I moan about Nelson here, but he is not that bad and only recently has had these horrible tantrums, think I'm just not used to them. And doesn't bite like a friends little boy! Nelson first stood at the bath just like Matthew. Take a photo of your little knaked boy peering over the edge, I missed that opportunity, but it would be so cute ( and a good embarrassing one).
Izzy - I always know it's you posting because of the time, who else would it be at 4am. Maxim must be quite a bright boy to pick up and understand the two languages, it's amazing what they can so early in life. Yes I think Nelson may have a lisp, been trying to get to make a hisss noise, but it comes out as hid lol! But then miss understood us and gave us a kiss ahhh! Was going to get Nelson a spinning top for his stocking, maybe Maxim should join Angela at her spin class lol! Sorry. Sounds like Maxims like Nelson on the clinging front you discribed just how I feel. Jasp try's to interest him in other activities, but 2 minutes later his back, like bad smell. But he doesn't get annoyed with him, but tells me off if I lose control snap

Well better get to work, hi to everyone else.

Hi Everyone!
Peace at last! Thought my little clockwork mouse was never going to go for a nap - she is determined to fight sleep until the last!! I will try to get this done with toast and tea in hand!
Hi Izzy - How many hours of a time difference are you from the UK? When I see 4.55am as your posting time I have visions of you typing away in the wee small hours! Which I no is not true as its just the time difference! Yeah Callum's allergy took us by surprise too, It kept happening everytime he ate certain foods and the registrar in A&E, who was superb, went through all the probable causes, a dose of antihystamines and he was fine, until it happened again! GP had us keeping food diaries for a while too. I always get really scared around food allergies as 8 years ago I recieved a call from A&E, miles away in London, as I was the only next of kin that could be contacted that day, my brother, had gone into a full blown anaphalaxis and had undergone CPR where the arrest trolley was used. The ambulance crew never had any adrenalin on board so that was another story! After a few hospital revisits & tests, he has an allergy to pepper derivitives, paprika being the most serious. Why he never "twigged" that he got a flu like reaction the last time he used it I will never know! Apparantely it's an allergy that is on the increase! He always carries his adrenal pen with him now and tells his scarey story to all waiters in restuarants! so when you mentioned chilli peppers sorry, but my thoughts went back to that! I now use rubber gloves to deseed chilli's, as I needed to learn my lesson the hard way - burning eyeballs!! Tut tut, I have done it to myself so many times!
hi angela - What a nice thought your husband meeting you after work on friday - ahh well the good intentions were there, even though you were a bit tired and hungover! Bet you were secrety cursing him under your breath! Had to laugh at ou all getting wrapped up for the footy, reminds me of Callum going to the footy, he wears his tracky bottoms under his skin tight jeans, two pairs of footy socks, scarf around the neck, 2 long sleeve t-shirts and then his footy top! Think that is his winter look! I thought about you the other night as your woman appeared on the TV as I was channel hopping - Sally Morgan, she's very good eh???
hi Jo - LOL!! Now that was a witty reply to your DH's comment Jo!! Now that was good!! I liked that! Yeah I know what you mean about down grading maternity units, edinburgh has lost 3, they have one new one now, right on the other side of town and the same as you, you need to get to it on motorway! Crackers eh? I have actually experienced rush hour in manchester trying to get to your airport, DH missed the BIG signs saying airport, and we ended up doing a loop the loop, slap bang in in rush hour, with all the concert goers trying to get into the ?Reebook stadium to see Coldplay! That was my adventure in your neck of the woods!

day. Weekends are tough when you are on your own.
Hi Jan, Paula and Linda!
Phew! Made it through with no interruptions!
Must get on and do some work now.
Izzy xx
11/11/08 04:55
Hi my friends!
I decided to post first thing, before anyone interrupts me. They all know I like to be left alone at first to read through all the emails that came in after we leave, so hopefully I'll get through this without too many interruptions!
Sarah - I can't understand quite a lot of what Maxim is saying, so I wouldn't worry about Nelson being that way. Sometimes the words are really clear and sometimes they say them about 10 times getting more and more cross as mummy can't understand. I really have to think hard sometimes! Maxim's speech is really coming along now. Having been stuck at two words together for a long time, he is now putting three together, so we get things like "very good spinning!" - he is obsessed by anything that spins. His grandparents have found him an old-fashioned spinning top for Christmas - you know the sort that has a handle on top that you pump? He is going to love it! He understands both languages equally, though I think he knows more words actively in English (maybe I think that just because I hear them more). I love it when he says something to me in English and then turns round and tells dh the same thing in Russian. I know to him it is normal but to me it still seems incredible! Does Nelson have a slight lisp? I think most little ones seem to at some stage. I really felt for you over the clinginess. Maxim gets like that with me sometimes and it drives me screaming up the wall. I have to force myself to be patient with him, as I know that it usually only happens when he is overtired, I have been away, or we have had some disruption. Any idea what set Nelson off? Was Jasp helpful or sympathetic about it? Dh gets annoyed when Maxim does it - great help!
Heather - public transport is a joke throughout the UK I think. I certainly wouldn't want to rely on it with a small child. You could be stranded for hours. As for here, the car drivers are bad but the bus drivers...you'd think they were carting potatoes around not people. People take their life in their hands everytime they get on a bus - not for me - no way! I've never heard of a food allergy like Callum has before. My brother had the same problem with chillis once but how stupid do you have to be to rub your eyes after cutting up chillis! Seems hard to believe that soya could have that effect, it seems so "neutral". Can he eat it? Is it a reaction on his skin/eyes and not internal? Must be hard if he can't eat it as soya is in so many things now.
Angela - we had our first snow on Friday! It didn't settle though. It is cold now and getting colder. Down to about -5 at night but over zero during the day. I hope the winter isn't as bad as last year. It seemed to go on for ever. That was such a nice idea of Brian's on Friday! But I can imagine that you really could have done without it! Maxim and potty training is going well. He is out of nappies except when we go out, naps and overnight. But, he has only asked for the potty twice in 2 weeks LOL! We have to just keep sitting him on it regularly. That said, no accidents for 3 days now. Yippeee! If you ask him does he need the potty he always says no! Guess he and Mattie learnt that together. Hope you can walk today! I can imagine how you feel. I used to play squash when I was at home. I hadn't played for a long time and went and had a game. Next day was agony. I was OK once I was sitting or standing but trying to get from one position to the next was unbelievable! I found all sorts of muscles I never knew I had. Sounds like your spin class has the same sort of effect.
Jo - so what was the 2 year old on Supernanny doing??? I rarely get to see that or similar programmes, but the ones I have seen you can watch the parents creating their own problems! Of course it is easy to be wise when you are on the outside. I sometimes wonder what we have to look forward to because we let them do this, or not do that! Glad you had a good d
10/11/08 21:47
hi everyone
just watching supernanny on the discovery real time channel - god hope matthew isn't like this 2 year old

well a typical monday, busy with no major issues to a good day really. matthew wouldn't nap at all for ian today so a tired boy come teatime but to be fair he wasn't that grumpy. he's not pulled himself up again - until tonight when he was in the bath (think he's obsessed with the bath - lol). he threw some toys over the side of the bath then pulled himself up to look for them LOL.
izzy - great to hear from you. god your traffic problems sound awful - i visited a friend in dublin and you don't have to pass a test to drive on your own there and people would just park their cars in the middle of the road!!! don't get me started on fireworks - driven me mad this year. the clocks changing an hour didn't bother matthew but a few nights of fireworks and he's taken to wanting to be settled to sleep at night - fortunately he seems to have gone off ok tonight. some of the fireworks people have sound like display ones!! lol at making maxim into a genius - that's exactly what i do with matthew when people start comparing - then hate myself for it because they bring out the worst in me and i don't normally act like that. think thats why i get down about it. thanks for the hug

sarah - LOL LOL LOL - need glasses to read your post
((hugs)) to you with tantrums and clingyness - always read your posts about nelson and think "oh my god, got all this to come" the christmas pressie ideas sound great. just wait, in a few years we'll be wishing they were this young again when they come with a huge list of expensive toys - lol.heather - funny talking about the NHS - our hospital was the first NHS in the country - they keep talking about closing our maternity unit so our nearest one would be a motorway drive away - past manchester airport - wouldn't fancy that much at rush hour. think they're talking about making our maternity unit into just midwifery - not sure how i feel about that. lol at callum hiding cheese - not surprised he's embarrassed
my dad says to me that we might think that matthew is that special we wont want anymore children - to which i reply that obviously i wasn't special enough because they had my brother after me - lol.angela - lol at the secret santa - got to really know the people for that. don't envy you standing on a football pitch. i always feel the cold as well so think i would have got in the buggy with mattie - haha. thanks for the hugs - like a said to izzy, when people start comparing i turn into an obsessed mum which i hate because it's just not me. i've been thinking that they're all insecure and i'm loving the age matthew is at the moment and enjoying it all before the terrible 2's come - his little vocals have changed - not that he's trying to talk but lots of different sounds. enjoy your work out with satan - hope he doesn't push you too hard.
well, nearly bedtime.
hi to everyone else - hope you all had a great weekend.
xx jo xx

Back Again, wont be too long unless i get interupted

Jo, (((hug))) for you too, i know how you feel too being abandoned at weekend as Brian works every Sunday, he has Friday off but we can't do any family things when James is at school because he feels left out. I usually end up not doing anything at weekend because like you say i hate going out on my own, footballs bad enough having to drag Mattie with me on freezing cold days. Don't take the comments about Matthews walking to heart, I know Mattie still hadn't walked at the age Matthew is now so he's not really late in walking is he, i know you won't but don't feel under pressure to make him walk just because others say he should, be proud of what he can do, he sounds like a gorgeous little man with a great sense of humour. Hope the fireworks died down a bit last night, it was a bit quieter here last night i know, fingers crossed it's finished tll new year now.
Jan, the nature toddler group sounds like great fun, Mattie would roll about in any mud so he'd have had a great time, aww bless Thomas playing with the tambourine, you should get him one for christmas... if you could stand the noise... Oh i forgot you've finished Lol, i'm only jealous, wish i'd finished all mine, still i've got lots of ideas and thats half the battle i think.
Hi to Linda and Paula, hope you and your lo's are well.
Well must dash, will post tomorrow, so sorry if i missed anyone, oh and hope i can still stand tomorrow, i'm going back to the spin class from hell again tonight
i'm just a gluten for punishment.Angela xxx

Hi All
Wow so busy on here this weekend, still i'd complain if noone was around.
If you remember i had a hangover and severe lack of sleep on Friday, well my wonderful husband decided to meet me from work with the kids as a surprise and go and watch the switch on of the lights in Manchester City Centre, it was a lovely idea, but me being the cow i can be just wanted to be at home. Saying that though the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and i thought Mattie would cry when they let the fireworks off but he was fine and they were lovely.
Sunday was footie day and i must say it's the coldest day we've had this year standing out there , the wind was bitter. Mattie cried his eyes out until i tucked him up in his buggy with hat, scarf, gloves and two blankets, he then went to sleep until the match finished
the footie mums picked out names for our secret santa gifts and i got a woman whose sons only just joined so i don't know her, we're supposed to buy something a bit naughty but will she be offended if it's too risquee, trust me!!
Izzy, so good to hear from you, i agree with Heather that that's quite a journey for a meeting. Hows the weather doing over there, has it gone any colder, i remember you saying you got snow when we were on last winter. I know how you feel with the potty training, i have a son who isn't the slightest bit interested in telling me when he's doing a wee or poo, yesterday afternoon we stayed in so i thought i'll keep asking him if he wants a wee or poo and he kept saying no, needless to say he did, several times, Lol. Suppose he'll get there in the end though.
Sarah, blimey thats some essay, can't compete with that today, only a snippet for everyone i'm afraid. (((hug))) for you being stressed about Nelsons naps and him being clingy, Mattie won't read a book on his own either, over the last two days i have read Elmer and Friends about 60 times, i've started making up my own version now i'm that bored with it. Lol. We have about 40 people on monthly salaries which i do but we also have a weekly payroll of about 200 employees, glad i don't have to do that one but i do oversee it, the rise is the cost of living we should have had in April so it'll be a nice lump sum for christmas.
Heather, You poor thing you, thats it you;ll just have to put your foot down and tell all your friends you're officially allergic to candle parties, but seriously, that does sound awful, hope you're feeling better now. On the countdown to work eh, thats an awful feeling, i remember it well, i went back just before the christmas break to get it over with but i'll always remember how strange i felt leaving Mattie for the first time, still now i'm used to it i enjoy the break to be honest and he loves nursery so it does us both good.
I'm going to split now, couldn't do it all again if i lost it!!
10/11/08 12:57
Good morning ladies!!
Hi Izzy - Good to hear from you! WoW that's one hell of a car journey for one meeting! But I suppose you have a larger surface area to cover out there! Had to laugh at your description of itchy eyes, that's excactly how I felt in wanting to pull my eyes out and give them a wash!! Callum has a food allergy with soya based products especially hot dogs! He knows never to touch them as his eyes blow up like balloons and he has ended up with black and blue eyes before! i know how you feel without the car when it out of action - I use the car all the time as public transport is just a joke!
Hi Sarah - I was just about to post when I realised you had got in there too! Oh goodness Nelson really was clingy to you eh?? It must be a cheese thing with boys - Callum took a huge block of cheese from the fridge when he was Nelsons age - we found it that night under his pillow with nibble marks all over it, he screamed the place down whne he realised when we had found it!! We still tell that story to this day and he gets so embarrased!! Soooo know what you mean about the NHS, I too was totally disgusted when my mum was really ill, she was in a hospital that I have only ever been in once or twice - I could have blown a gaskget there and then!! My two great aunts are probably turning in their graves as they were both Matrons when the NHS was born!! My brother and I are like chalk and cheese too! Paul is the irriresponsible, self centred one and I am the caring, responsible and grounded one! I still remember my brother being a nightmare of a child! LOL!! You definately get brownie points for your essay Sarah!!!
Hi to everyone else!! xxx

heather – hope your eyes feel better. your friends mum sounds quite bad hope things work out for them. laughed at the bmw guy, i hate men drivers, that’s all i will say or i’ll incriminate myself lol! don’t get me started on the nhs, i’ve seen some sights when my mum was sick, and i’m not at all blaming the staff, your all so overworked and under staffed it is unbelievable. my sister and i always said it needs organising a lot better, good administrators and less managers, i would love to get my hands on it, needs a woman’s touch. also the treatment of my fil was horrific and he ended up with mrsa and nearly died after going in with a bleeding ulcer, my sil works for the nhs and she said she’d never seen such bad treatment as her father received in the boston hospital he was in, neglect mostly. it’s going to hard for you i bet leaving lillie to go back to work. i have to work over xmas, but not the bank holidays and we tend not to do full days, we have stocktake to do, might try to get out of it next year when nelson will more into the festive season. jasp will be on nelson sitting duty, as leanne has xmas off. my mum always said she had two completely different babies, my sister so it seams was the laid back one and i was a tasmanian devil. think if had me first she would have only one child lol! when corinne had erin she thought she going to get a lovely quiet baby like her, - oh no!

izzy – well at least its good news that your company has a lot of work on. i hate cars too mine has cost me loads recently and it’s so hard to manage without one. how is maxim’s speech now? nelson’s is coming on but his not clear with some words and makes it really difficult to understand him. think he has a problem with ‘s’s, don’t know whether it’s due to his tongue tie. but i did mention this to the hv at his 2 year check and they didn’t seam concerned. he understands what you say to him though, to the point of surprising me. does maxim understand both languages equally well? the little school ‘lessons’ seams good, bet he loves it.
***> ***> ***> ***>jo – big ((hug)) to you. we all worry about children’s development, if it’s not one thing it’s another. as jo said matthew is very unique special boy and from as far as i can tell from what you’ve written, he seams totally normal to me. and as izzy said once they do start walking you’ll wish, he wasn’t believe me! like i have my own worry’s about nelson’s speech and his lack of interest in anything to do with play and he won’t paint or draw or look at books by himself, omg i have a nutter on my hands lol! loads of fireworks round here in the wet too! but nelson loved them, see above. nelson forever changing his nap times, and when he won’t nap you miss it greatly. another ‘bear’ fan then, nelson now goes round his room and points out all the bears, and there’s a lot, not only teddies but door signs and motifs. i’ll have to put my hands up to being bad in the car too, bit of a girl racer i’m afraid (but only on my own lol!). jasp went up to the local remembrance service, the weather was horrible so i took nelson shopping, my dad always lays a wreath, as he served in ww2.***> ***> ***> ***>jan – nature tots sounds fun. hm mud hedgehog, nelson wouldn’t dare join in with that it would mean getting his hands dirty lol! hope yours colds have cleared up, know how you feel on that one. laughed at thomas folding himself in half, nelson does that but not to suck his toes, his learnt you can’t dress him in a position like that. strawberries can be dodgy my sister had an allergy against them when she was child, made her some up in rashes and she loved them poor thing, she’s ok now though. hope you enjoy the rhythm time class this morning.***>10/11/08 12:27
***>hi everyone - part 1
***> ***>wow you’ve all been busy on here this weekend, taken me ages to read it all and it was so quiet last week too. decided to write this word before posting, seams i have so much to comment on, thought it would be easier, so forgive me if this looks awful after i’ve posted it.***> ***> ***> ***>quiet weekend but nelson drove me up all the wall, he won’t leave me alone, he was like a little shadow permanently glued to my heal. i know i shouldn’t work myself up about it and it’s lovely to know he loves his mum, but as i work all week, i need some time to do chores and surely it wouldn’t hurt him to play with some toys. plus his a mare trying to get him to have a nap, he definitely still needs it or he gets really stressed come bedtime. at least i noticed he never tried escaping from the cot, i waited outside his room peering through the crack in the door, in case he was going to kamicarsie again, but i think he learnt his lesson. ended up cleaning my floors at 8.30pm on saturday night. ***> ***> ***> ***>he can now also open the lock on the fridge door and keeps steeling cheese bites and biting through the wrapper and wax covering, i have to rescue it quick, then he has a wobbly when i take it off him, last night he threw a baby bell across the room rather then let me take it, so he ended up on the naughty step and ‘bear’ was turned off, which he didn’t like at all! so had a really fun weekend. i’m finding all this clinginess and tantrums very stressful at the moment.***> ***> ***> ***>a neighbour had fireworks saturday night and nelson and i watched them out the back bedroom window before his bath, he thought they were great and kept looking for them again last night. so next year i think we will have to get some ourselves.***> ***> ***> ***>angela – your night out sounded good and amusing. i’ve always been a bit sceptical about these shows, but since my mum’s passing i’ve got a morbid sense of curiosity about them and would love to attend one. that’s it get the important salary rises out the way first lol! do you do the salaries for the whole uni or just certain departments. luckily my company is only small only about 45 employees and we use a bureau, so quite easy, plus we don’t have a structured pay rise system, so don’t get them all in one go. but i know from when i worked at the open university everyone was graded and structured pay rises twice a year, massive place, it was like working for a small town. know how feeling with the dressing, i did laugh and think ah not just me then! nelson hates his new coat nanny bought him and i have a fight on my hands most mornings, and he has decided he like one particular sleep suit which has a ball pattern on it and have another fight with him when i have to put him in the other wonderful soft ones i got from mothercare! you reminded me i need book nelson in for a photo, their doing a deal in the local pixifoto. looks like we’re both fighting our way round the shops on thursday, but yours sound much more fun with the girls, we’ll have nelson in tow. seen quite a good remote controlled car in tesco’s and it’s for 2+, usually this type of thing is for older kids and a night garden soft play set, looks good. i find wrapping presents tedious too, i start of well and then like you get fed up.***> ***> ***>10/11/08 05:22
Hi Everyone!
I can't believe how long it is since I have been on here. Work usually settles down to a steady (sometimes boring) pace at this time of year, but not this year. It is insane. We can barely keep up. We had to drive out to another town on Wednesday for a meeting - 1000km round trip for a meeting! My car isn't well now, so I have no independence, dh has to drive me everywhere
Stupid &(*^*&%*^ people who promised to have the spare parts in by Friday morning still don't have them today. Oh well, that will teach me to drive too fast. I hate bad drivers and I am in the capital of bad drivers here. Most people buy their licences (I kid you not!) so have never learnt to drive and they are just appalling. I won't bore you all with the stories! I used to love fireworks when I was a kid. They were once a year on 5th November (or the nearest Saturday) and that was it. I have (when I am in the UK) a dog who is terrified of them. She lives with my parents in Kent now, but I used to send her down there for at least 2-3 weeks over 5th November anyway as where I live/lived in Surrey there were fireworks every single night for at least 2 weeks. It used to make me so mad. I couldn't go out in the evening and had to be home before it got dark. The only "accidents" that dog has ever had were when she was on her own and fireworks went off. You would have thought with money being tight, there would have been fewer around this year.Heather - glad to know your eyes are looking better! I do that with cats so really sympathise. Your eyes itch so much you want to take them out and wash them!
Jan - I love the sound of nature tots! Maxim would love the mud hedgehogs! He was going to a little school before our trip home in August - they have an hour of "lesson" where they dance, draw, paint etc. He has just gone again today for the first time - the school shut for the summer and then when they were calling people to enrol again we weren't home so missed out until a space became available. Can't wait to hear what they did today! I hope Thomas's cold is getting better - nothing better than going to work in a snot covered top!
Jo - I agree with the others - don't you hate the comparison of my baby is doing this or that - what can yours do? Well my son is a genius - he started reading engineering at Oxford this year and he is only 2! hahaha. I tried not to listen to people when they started "isn't Maxim talking yet?" But I still found myself getting defensive and saying "he's bilingual - they always start later" and then hating myself for reacting. At the moment, I am getting "isn't he potty trained yet?". There is always someone with a child who is so advanced that they make the rest of us feel incompetent. Once Matthew is off you'll be wishing he had delayed walking til he was 10! Sending you a big hug!
Angela - sounds like you had a great night out. Hope the weekend was as peaceful as you planned!
Sarah - I'm struggling with ideas for Maxim for Christmas too. One good thing about being here is that we don't get all the adverts for toys etc all the time, so he isn't demanding the latest whatever it is - but I don't get ideas either! I know what you mean about the tantrums - we get them when he is trying to communicate and mummy is too stupid to understand what it is he wants (either too stupid or just doesn't want to give it to him!).
Hi to Paula and Linda - hope you've had good weekends.
Back to work...
Take care
Izzy xx

hi everyone
just have 5 minutes before getting all my stuff ready for work tomorrow

ian's ben working today but my friend and her 10 week old son came over for the afternoon which has been nice. it's hard to catch up when we have the kids but we manage somehow - lol. i introduced her to "bear" and her lo (freddie) started kicking his legs - think he's going to be a "bear" fan in the future LOL
the weather has been pants today - although did manage to get matthew out this morning to a local outdoor rememberance service. they always have the band their and police & firecrews so showed matthew the fire engines that were parked up and he loved the band. just can't believe it's monday again tomorrow

jan - sounds like both thomas & matthew are just having afternoon naps. matthew only has one nap a day but it used to be in the morning - but the last few days he's shown no sign of tiredness until about 2pm. it does mean that he's a happier baby at night (he was never too grumpy before) but means that we have to be at home come nap time because he'll only sleep in his cot. kind of limits what you can do. no fireworks tonight but matthew took a good 40 minutes to settle. i'm putting it down to me having to comfort him the last few nights so he's got used to me going back into him. i'll keep my fingers crossed with the 4 spoons of yoghurt. i've heard that strawberries can cause reactions (as can tomatoes) so hopefully the yoghurt will be ok.
heather - glad your eyes have now calmed down. i know about alzheimers and it's really not nice - my friends father has it (my friend who visited today). her parents now live in lincoln but were over this week and i saw them on friday. he's not too bad so far and keeps a diary that he refers to. it's amazing that a few weeks ago when they visited he spent all day doing my friends garden but then couldn't remember the next day - but could remember the answer to a crossword he'd done. my friend said that she's noticed he has deteriorated this weekend. she only sees them once a month so notices more i suppose. the hospital have said that they've got him marked to try some new treatment thats recently been talked about in the news, so fingers crossed. i have the answer to your "customers" remembering you ... my dad is a retired head teacher and always bumping into ex pupils who have now double in size and no longer wear a school uniform (lol) - he just asks "hows the family" works every time

well better go and get sorted for tomorrow
;(hope everyone else has had a great weekend - will pop back on tomorrow
xx jo xx
