yep you cant have an epidural if you have injected anytime in the preceding 12 hours as it can cause bleeding into the spine
12/11/08 19:13
hey all has anyone told you that if yr on clexane yr may not get a epidural
12/11/08 16:36
hi girls,
Hope your all well, just a quickie between feeds. Holly is doing well and putting on weight but seems to sleep all day and be awake all night so I'm pretty shattered at the moment... enjoying it, but looking forward to hopefully getting some more sleep soon!! She has taken to the dummy well so hopefully that will help to settle her going forward.
Hope all the injections etc are going well.. 4 weeks left for me, can't wait to be off them. I was warned about the very small low risk of getting brittle bones from Clexane, but my doctor said its only really if you are on it every day for years etc, haven't been offered any further tests or anything. I'm seeing my consultant in 3 weeks, so will ask him then.
Take care all,
Melly.x.x
12/11/08 08:15
to blondie yes clexane/heperin based drugs can increase your chances of brittle bones i was told by my consultant although i have not been offered calciuim but will be tested for osteo after baby is born osteoporosis is mention in the information leaflet provided with clexane although it does not go into detail if its any comfort i was told the risk is small my consultant said he tests his ladies after delivery and has not tested one positive yet hth

Hi Sarah,
Nice to 'meet' you, and congrats on your pregnancy.
Can't really help you out much, as no-one's mentioned this issue to me, and have not been started on calcium or anything, but maybe one of the others will be able to answer it. This is a great place for all the support you'll need to do with injecting ( and anything else). I hover between here and DIM.
Hope everyone else is OK today, will have more of a catch up tomorrow when I have a little more time.
Take care
Faye xx

Hello ladies, sorry to butt in, but just wanted to ask u all a question.
im injecting clexane; im 17 weeks now, & have factor v leiden. As im 'high risk', i saw the consultant last week, & she just happed to casually mention about the risk of getting osteoparosis from injecting heparin...!!! Obviously freaked me out abit. Of all the consultants that i saw previously (following my mc's, which led to tests; hence was diagnosed with blood disorder) none of them mentioned this.
The consultant didnt say too much, only that its a low risk chance to getting osteopaosis, but that from when im 20 weeks they'll give me extra calcium vitamins.
Just wondered if you any of u ladies had been told about this, & what you're doing about it?
Thank u
Sarah 17 weeks xxx

Hi! How's your gorgeous girl getting on Melly? Know what you mean about the theory that they don't get colic when you bf, ds had awful colic despite me bf him. The worst thing is that there is very little you can do for them. Hope the clinic was of help.
I think one of the best things about being pregnant is that you never feel alone, it definately makes work more bearable when you get the little kicks every now and again. So glad things are going well, you are so close to the 24 week mark Faye. Have decided that we will find out the sex, we did for dd but not ds, really liked the surprise on the day but dd may well get the idea that it is one or the other and if it turns out to be the other one then we could have trouble!
When I spoke to my consultant he said it was better to let things go naturally, for the last 2 pregnancies I had to go in as soon as i thought labour had started so i could be monitored. I was on a different drug and a "preventative" dose, this time i'm on tinzaparin which is the same as clexane apparantly but my hospital doesn't put pregnant women on that after clots for some reason. Despite the higher dose they don't seem to have a problem with waiting for nature to take its course. Seems to me that what hapens to you depends on where you live - odd! Am interested to see what happens to you.
Hope everyone is well, speak soon
Rachel

Morning ladies,
Back at work now, and allowed to use the internet for personal use prior to 7.30 only as spyware now installed ( bloody big brother lol).
Work went OK yesterday, everyone says how big my bump is now, which is quite nice. Cleared my 500+ emails by 3.30pm and now got to do a day on the backed up post.
Emma, hope it's gettting a bit better with the colic for Jenson, and Melly, hope you didn't get washed away in the rain on the way to the BF clinic yesterday. Poor babies, I hope they get some relief soon.
Rachel, wow 13 weeks is great, and 20week scan on Christmas Eve is a way cool christmas prezzie. Will you ask the sex? How come you won't need induction? I should find out what they plan to do with me in a couple of weeks, when I see the consultant again, but I don't think they'll risk me going into labour naturally whilst on the clexane, as risk of haemorrhage.
Duke how are you, must be about 8 weeks now to go ??
Sitting here at my desk with lo kicking away happily at my lower tummy, I have this massive smile on my face, which 8 or 9 months ago I never thought I'd have, after the mc's. I'm soooooo happy at the moment, even being back at work doesn't bother me. I put in for my mat leave yesterday, and I leave at 12pm on Tuesday 27th January, and not back til 11th Jan 2010. Yippee.
Next short term goal for me is viability at 24 weeks though. Will be great to get there.
Take care everyone,
Faye 22+2 yellow bump xx

Morning Girlies,
Hope your all well.
Faye - hope being back at work isn't too rough and your feeling better.
Duke - hope your ok and injections going alright.
Rachel - fantastic news about the scan, pleased everything is ok and that you don't have to be induced... .x
Emma - my little one has a really sore tummy too, its horrid watching the wriggle about isn't it, i'm breastfeeding at the moment and that's supposed not to give them too much wind but doesn't seem to make much difference. The past two days she has been in bits... makes me feel so guilty. I'm going to try and get out to the breastfeeding clinic today (although its peeing down) to check that i'm doing it all ok. I've brought some infocol too so will give that a try.
Take care all

Hi! Had a really good day today - we had our 12 week scan, although they have changed my dates so now 13 weeks on Sunday (at least the big day is a little closer!), it went well. Everything looks ok so far. Also found out from the consultant that I won't need to be induced despite being on the injections which I am really pleased about. The only problem would be if I needed an emergency c-section when I would have to have a general. Had 2 normal deliveries so fingers crossed its a risk worth taking. Can't wait for the 20 week scan which is on Christmas eve.
Faye - glad to hear you are back at work next week. How long left till you start mat leave? Know how you feel about going back - I was off 4 weeks after my dvt. Hope it goes well.
Melly - wow, she's gorgeous, and asleep all the time!!! Have a feeling that isn't the truth! Hope you are well on the mend after the birth.
Emma - sorry to hear that you are both suffering with colic. my ds had dreadful colic and I ended up giving him colief which is harder to give him and expensive but worked really well. Not sure what I would have done without it. Think some doctors give it on prescription but mine wouldn't. Hope you find a solution.
Duke - hope you are ok, how much longer now?

Hi everyone,
Melly she is absolutely gorgeous hun. Your album is brilliant.Faye good luck for work next week like Duke said I bet it flies by not long and you will be able to start mat leave.
Hope everyone else is well to? Jensen is still suffering with colic. I have tried infacol, a faster flow teat which does seem better for him.The midwife also suggested I change him to a easy digest milk so he is on Aptimil easy digest now I'm hoping to see some improvement in the next few days so fingers crossed. Its so hard seeing him with stomach ache and not being able to help, I just wish my breast feeding went better.
Anyway girlie's will come back on soon to see how everyone is xx

P.s Faye I agree with your mum about gripe water its brilliant stuff it really helped my little girl only thing is he cant have it until he is a month old boo hoo cant wait until he is old enough.x

Hi All,
Melly, hope you're OK and you manage to get pics on soon. I can imagine that the jabs are more sore now. It probable feels like that bit should be over and you can concentrate on your little girl. Hope shes doing well, and you're not too tired hun.
Emma, aaw bless colic is so not much fun. Have you tried anything yet for it? Gripe water used to sort me out apparently when I was a babe. My mum swore by it, but they've probably got better stuff out by now lol.
Duke wow 9 weeks hun, thats gonna go by so quickly.
Contented hope things are OK with you, and everyone I've not mentioned too.
I'm feeling alot better this week with the arthritis, and have started to notice waking/sleeping patterns in the baby's movements, which is quite reassuring. I can usually get a kick from him/her too if I poke hard enough even if I think its asleep lol.
Back to work next week, which I think will be quite hard after 4 weeks off sick. Not looking forward to it much. On the plus side, we've managed to decorate our bedroom in the last week ( well DP has), and it looks great, all browns and creams. Baby's room has been done for a while too, so upstairs looking good.
Speak to you all soon
Love Faye xx 21+4

Hi everyone,
Melly, wow what a time you had! Thankfully everything turned out fab in the end. Congratulations on your little girl, and as everyone else has said what a beautiful name. You and your oh must be over the moon to finally hold her in your arms. I cant wait to see a pic of her. My Oh is back to work on Thursday I really don't want him to go, I have really enjoyed having him home and getting to know our new arrival.
Duke wow only 9wk I hope it goes fast for you then you can meet your little one.
Faye hope your well?
Well Jensen is doing fab gaining weight etc , only thing is I think he is starting with the dreaded colic over the last 2 nights. Poor little man its so horrible seeing him with tummy ache and there is nothing I can really do to make it feel better for him.
Well ladies take care and I will be back on soon to see how everyone is doing.
Emma, Jensen +Macey xx

Hi Everyone,
Oh Wow Melly, she sounds adorable hon, we need pics asap lol. As everyone has said beautiful name for her, you must be besotted.
Poor you re. the birth though, going through all that with minimal intervention, then epidural for the bloody placenta, who would have thought eh? Well done to you both though, well worth all the needles etc.
Hope everyone else is OK and not too cold in this weather

Speak to you soon

Congratulations Melly! I agree its a beautiful name. At 6lbs she must be tiny! I'm glad to hear you are both ok now, its amazing how quickly the memories of the birth fade when you have a wonderful new addition to your family.
Rachel x

Yep that's right can't have epidural if had injections, but they often induce and tell you not to take your injection that day etc. depends on the situation etc. but that's what they did with me.
Hope everyone is all ok.
