    Hi Ladies

I've been talking to Marie on another thread but it looks like we're all in a similar boat.  My creatine was about 150 prior to my 14 month old son being born but it's now around 200.  Actually you've prompted me to get get a copy of my latest hospital correspondance so I can double check that.  It's good to hear a second pregnany isn't out of thre question at these levels, although it is a bit scary as it seems to be such an unknown.  saying that, I sailed through the firsd two trimestres with brilliant blood pressure throughout and never a hint of pre-eclampsia.  The problem I had was at 34 weeks when my protein levels leaped from 2-3 pluses to 8 pluses so I had to have a a c-section at 36 =2 weeks after failed induction I should add.  Maybe I won't sell the moses basket and baby carrier just yet :-).

before I forget, one of you girls mentioned having to come off gout medication.  Well I continued my allopurinol as advised with no problms wotsoever if that's any help.  I take 200mg daily and would be crippled without it.Bye for now - gemmaxxx

hi sandra hope u r ok and the preg is going well, ive been told that if i have any more kids then that will defo effect kidneys, but i dont regret haveing another one, im sure it will b worth it in the end and im sure u can go on the transplant list if things do get bad, good luck with eveything. my cousin has been on the waiting list for 5 years and was just about to start dialysis when she had a transplant and her creatinine is lower that mine, so just stay posotive.

    Hi Khushi

Thanks for your message.  It sounds like you had similar risks as I have been told I am going to have - high risk of pre-eclampsia etc.  I am being really well looked after at Chertsey hospital in Surrey.  Am hoping I will not deliver as early as 28 weeks, but have been told I will have a small baby - as you did.  Great news to hear all is ok with you and baby though and I am sure your creatinine will settle eventually.  Unfortunately I have been told that being pregnant could take a year off the life of my kidney and I have already been told that it is due to fail in 2009/2010 so probably haven't got much life in it, just hope it holds out through this pregnancy.

    Hello,

Scan went really well, my dates are right so due around the 12th of Jan.

Spoke to them about feeling as if I am being left to it and they said that they would be keeping as close an eye on me as last time and maybe get renal consultant more involved aswell as the urea level in my blood is higher that it has ever been although creatinine is not too bad. (not really sure what that means!!!!)

Am back to see them on the 30th of July, and will see midwife every week for bp check

    Hope everyone is ok xx

hi i just thought that id post as ive just been thru a similar experience, i have allports syndrome where the kidneys leak blood and protein, ive one son 3 and half he was delivered at 38 weeks as the protein level had shot up towards the end of the pregnancy, he weighed 5lbs4.  Ive just had a lil girl at the beginning of may, with  her the protein was already quite high at the beginning of the pregnancy so i was being seen by a renal doc and a obs every two weeks of pregnancy dis tym round, my creatinine level was abt 115 to start with and had gone up to about 145 and my protein level had shot up to 7.5g so had my baby at 34 weeks, she weighed 3lb14.  my creatinine level is still at the 145 and docs say that is it may take months to come down or settle at a level, i was taking tinzaparin injections everyday to halp with the protein and i also suffered from hyperemesis all thru preg and was in and out of hos, i was also high risk for pre eclampsia and was on iron tabs too, the docs were amazed that i got to 34 weeks as they said that i wud neva get past 28 weeks and had a scare at 26 weeks where they wer gonna deliver me.  im also not gonna have anymore kids, ive got one boy and a girl and thank god this is enough for me, if i did have more then my kidneys would be more stressed and i wud be monitored the same way as this preg..

i wish you all the very best with ur preg. and hope it all goes well. weve got a history of kidney problems in my family so i know where ur coming from.

    Hi there
I went for a scan on Tues as had a little bleeding last week.  Everything is ok though and it is now looking like a bubba - will post new scan this weekend.  Otherwise I am feeling really well, no sickness or anything!!  Just hope it doesn't hit me later!!

    Hi Ladies!

Just wondered how you're all doing?! Getting lots of rest?!

Anyone got scans coming up soon? Good luck have fun looking at your little baby!

Andrew is now 7 and half months and keeps trying to stand up (will not crawl tho?!?) Had shock of my life the other day, i changed his nappy on the bed, went to wash hands and when i came back he was standing on the floor holding onto the bed looking very pleased with himself!! I think he must have rolled onto his tummy, shimmied down, feet touched floor and realised was standing. Thank goodness he didn't let go. And I thought the worry would stop when he was out

It's so amazing isn't it! The 12 week one really does look like a baby. I think my best one was 14 weeks. I stopped getting pics after 24 wk scan as baby so big was just a big blur couldn't all fit on paper

I tried to put pics of andrew up other day but didn't work, will try again at some point!

    Take care everyone.

Going to have a proper look at ur pics now

I know I couldn't believe it when I saw it, I really wasn't expecting to see that.  Really looking forward to my 12 week scan, my friends say it will really look like a proper baby then!

    hello,

Ds wasn't born until 39+6!!! They had been trying to induce me from 37 weeks but his head wasn't engaged so they didn't want to risk it. Not sure if it was a good idea or not as kidney function decreased at 37 weeks and has not improved.

Got a letter through yesterday saying my renal appointment has been put back again to the end of August (was originally meant to be the end of June, then back to the end of July) And its not as if they don't know I'm pregnant coz the doctor sent them a copy of the referal he sent to obstatrician.

Am going to go and see doctor tomorrow and have a good old moan about it. Think they assume everything is going to be fine this time because it went pretty smoothly last time!!!

Hope everyone is ok and had a nice relaxing weekend!!

    Sal xxx

    Hi marie,

Luckily last time before i got pg with dd i was already with the renal team,as theyd only found out about the kidney a yr beforehand. Cant really remember much about being pg with dd, as only found out 3month gone, but dont remember being as tired as i am this time, it was all ablur, trying to get everything sorted in such a short space of time.

This time i had to get re-referred as they had taken me off their books as the kidney was stable. Iv got my appt with consultant mid july again, but when i saw her at 12 wks she told everything was fine and do a check in 6 wks. I know at the mo, kidney is ok,and that it'l get worse nearer the end. I'l take your advice and speak to my midwive, as i dont think she realises how bad it can get.

Its nice to know that im not the only going through/been through pregnancy with similar conditions, & that you can give advice, thankyou xx

Sandra u'll have to let me know if you're planning any summer trips down to bournemouth! I'm sure you will be fine, you have all your apps and scans sorted already so they're taking good care of you

Sal when u had your ds you had pretty much same number of scans/app spans as i did. Did u deliver wk 37? Andrew came out 39 exactly

Well take care everyone and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. Andrews just gone to sleep and i have ironing to do but can't be bothered to move - think its the sun

    xx
