I can completely understand and relate to how you feel - the waiting and see part is terrible - I remember it from last time, but it is worth the wait what ever the outcome is. You will never regret resting waiting and doing all you can to keep baby safe, and you'll just have to remember that as you face these two long weeks. Good luck hun, we'll be thinking of you and wishing the days by with you x x x x x

Oh Clarian, i really, really feel for you. I can't imagine how you feel, it has been all of our worst fear throughout and you have to face it, you don't deserve this.

It's easy to say and i know i wouldn't but try and look on the positive side, he is still inside you, you only have to make another two and a bit weeks. The steroid injections can work wonders.

Just rest as much as you can, we will all pray for you.

Sending you loads of love and hugs xxxx

Basically, if I can make it to 24 weeks, I will be given steroids. To be honest girls, I'm not very positiv t the moment, and really don't know if I can go through this a third time. I just feel as though I want to go to hosptal and have it all over and done with. I feel as though I am lying here just waiting for my waters to break xxx

Clarian, i don't know what to say, i am so sorry for you. Did the Dr reccomend/suggest anything to you like what this means for the pregnancy? Have they come up with any plan of action or suggestions?

I shall keep everything crossed and sending loads of hugs xxx

not good news im afraid. Went for my scan today, and it looks as though the cervix as now started to funnel through the stitch. Don't really know what to do now. Just lying in bed feeling very upset and down. xxx I knew that this was going to happen.

    Hi Clarian

I think Megulemoo put that perfectly. I am no expert but your stitch has been in for a while now with no problems so it seems that it must be working. If you think about it, if you had two fingers stitched together this long without any problems, you wouldn't give it another thought now would you?

On saying that i am 31 weeks today and i still panic that every twinge is labour etc, it's only natural and a sign of how much we love and want our babies.

21 weeks is over half-way and a massive milestone for you, i am confident you will get there.

I may be on the final stretch but it still feels like an eternity, finish work on Friday thouugh thank god and is suppose i best start getting things ready, so far i have only got a pack  of nappies!!!!

Take care, good luck for Thursday xxxx

Hi, I think if something was going to go wrong with the actual stitch it would happen quite soon after it going in - but I've no medical knowledge - just going of what my consultant said. He also said that some of the high stitches are so successful that they end up having to induce and often a c.section too becuasue everything has been so well held together (another reason why mine is staying in and I'm just having the section). WOW - now I feel lucky I have him and he gave me such a high stitch  - it sounds like he really knoiws what he's doing with these stitches.

I really think you need to just trust that you've done waht you can and try and relax and not worry. I know it's easier said than done, but be confident you have done everything possible so your not worrying and tensing up all the time - it wont do you any good. although I lost at 22 weeks - and when I was at your stage I probably could have worried myself into labour - just kept thinking 'there's nothing more you can do - sit back and relax girl' (said it quite a lot before it sank in).

I am definately on countdown now  - really uncomfy countdown lol. I've got 15 days to go: or to put it another way 375 hours and counting.

you too are getting close to the 24 week viable mark - and then the big one 27 weeks - that was the goal my consultant first gave me as he said when I get there I have a whopping 95% chance of having a health baby. everyweek since has been a wonderful bonus - as I trust it will be for you too.

put your feet up and chill for a bit babe - thinking of you, and praying for a successful pregnancy & healthy baby for you. Let us know how you go on at your check-up.

Good morning! 21 weeks today! This is my first big  milestone because I if can make it to the end of te week, I'll be further gone than my last pregnancy which ended at 21+3!  Got check-up on Thuursday, so hopefully everythng would've remained the same!  Tell me something though girls to help stop me worrying, do you think that if something was wrong with the stitch, then I would know about it?  xxxx You lot must be on countdown now!!!!!!! Lucky things!

That's great news - not the worrying bit but the bit that your still all closed up down stairs.

I spent a massive long stint last time on hospital bedrest - it's the only time in my life I got into a routine. I'd wake up, do some puzzles (books or nintendo ds), have breakfast, read a bit of a book, have dinner, do some puzzles, have tea, read a book. With visitors 3 times a day for a couple of hours - looking back I don't know how I did it. I do remember each week is 9 days long though when your on bed rest. Good luck, thinking of you - and although bed rest is rotten - rememebr it's all for the best.

Oh my god poor you! You did the right thing though, i bet you feel soooo much better today after being told that your cervix is shut though don't you? I am so pleased it wasn't your waters, thats what triggered my labour with dd and i think it makes you paranoid. Are you continuing with the bed rest? I have been told i have a lot of discharge when they do those hideous speculem things but i don't know where it goes because i never have any trace of any!!!

Another joy of pregnancy i suppose!!! Hope you are feeling re-assured and so pleased you are ok.

    Take care, Kate xxxxx

Oh my god ladies! Guess where I spent last night? At the hospital!!! I had a really bad feeling that my waters were leaking as for the past two days I have been feeling constantly wet ' down below'. Yesterday for example, I had to change my underware bout four times, and of course, like you said Kate, being on bed rest allows you to eel every twinge, pain etc plus I spend a lot of time on the internet reading all these horror stories. This added to the fact that my last two miscarriages started with my wters breaking, I just panicked. Anyway, to cut a long story short (phew!), went to hospital, they did loads of tests and stuff, and when the midwife did the speculum thing (ihate that), there was no sign of water and the cervix was long and shut! I'm sooooooo relieved!  Anyway, midwife said that there was quite a ot of discharge (sorry tmi) but that is an effect of the stitch, and it's normal discharge, and then combined with lying in bed and sweating etc...... but she reassured me more that once that everything is closed - that was my biggest worry! Hope you are all wel! xx

Oh god Clarian i feel for you. I am terrible on bed rest. Not that i mind not doing anything but my mind works overtime and i feel contractions, feel my waters break, can't feel the baby any other problem i can invent!!!

My dr actually told me to go back to work, i think i was boring her to death with my worries!!!

It seems like ages to go BUT it will pass by and before you know it you will be 28 weeks and then like the rest of us you will want to be 30 weeks, then 32 and so on.....

It really doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago i was 20 weeks.

    Hi kate.

Still going strong I'm afraid. It's OK - usually just one big chuck up session that scares the life out of my poor dog. Usually in the morning and then I feel fine appart from BH then kick in. Not been sick yet this morning though so feeling pretty rough and almost hoping I am so It's over and done with and I feel better.

Pretty sure it's preggy sickness - a lot of people have commented that they get a bit sick again in the last few weeks. Still three weeks today and my baby will be out for cuddles, more than worth a bit of sickness.

hope you ladies are all ok, the days are turning to weeks and we are gradually all getting closer - step by step. x x x x x x

    Morning Megulemoo

How's the sickness? Is it just normal pregnancy related joys or have you got a bug?

I only ask as yesterday i kept going light-headed and couldn't face food. Although i wasn't sick i felt it. Spoke to mw who said to eat it sounded like my blood sugar levels.

Just wondered if this is what you have been suffering with too. I am hoping it was a one off, not pleasant at all!!!

    Take care Katexxxxx

My consultant always looked for funneling to see if it was shortening. I just thought shortening was how your cervix dilated itself - like if you cut a piece of leg out of some tights and stretched it open it would get shorter in order to get wider.

I thought he looked for funnel as this signified the cerix was trying to open but had only got so far so looked like a funnel shape when scanned.

He always refered to funneling and shortening together - as in that's what he was looking for - so I never really saw them as seperate processes - just assumed they were linked but I was more likely to see funnelling than shortening and dilating as the stitch would stop the process of shortening and dilating and my cervix would end up looking like a funnel and not stretched out tights.

HOWEVER. I never really questioned him to see if my assumptions were right, so I suggest you get your consultant or midwife to explain things again just to make sure.

well done for holding on - every day is important - tick each one off with pride and before you know it your baby will be big enough to face the world.

    (((HUGS)))

    Hi Girls

Congratulations megulemoo that is great news that your baby is doing so well, not long to go now!!!!

Clarian - Congratulations on 20 weeks!!! ISo far so good, will keep everything crossed that you can keep going on as you are. I am no expert in cervixes but my understanding is shortening is the process that happens naturally during pregnancy as the cervix prepares for dilation and funneling is where it almost collapses under the pressure. Don't quote me on this either but i think shortening happens from the bottom upwards (into the womb) and funneling happens from the inside. I had funneling and was shown the scan picture and the dr explained but to be honest there was that much to take in i couldn't remember what was what!!! That was how i interpreted it. I am not sure if the funneling can correct itself. What i would say is your stitch has held out a week at least so i don't see why it will not continue to do so. My dr is a big fan of the 7 day rule, if nothing happens further or if everything has worked ok there should be no further problems after 7 days. I like that idea and will continue to live by it!!!!

You both take care, Kate xxxxx

Good morning girlies!!! Well it's day five of bed rest ....an I'm surviving! 20 weeks today! Full of questions though so here goes.......

1 What is the difference between the cervix dilating an funneling? Which is the most serious?

2 I've heard and read about cervix length improving sometimes, well is it possible for a cervix to funnel, then to 'unfunnel' itself?

well, I'm sure that I will think of more questions as the long days progress......... Hope everybody is well and Take Care xxx

Hi girls, Hope you are all doing well. I'm still being sick

Just got back from hospital. My baby is now officially described 'large' in my notes. She's measuring up around 7lb 8oz  on the scan - and that's in line with my Midwife's measurement. I am 35+1 today.

Got my section booked for Thursday 31st July and the aneasthetist has cleared me for a spinal - which I wasn't expecting - but she said it will be reviewed by another aneasthatist and so may change.

going to get my ovarian cyst removed at the same time. It all seems very real now - although it's not yet clicked with my hubby.

    Take care girls, x x x x x
