Hi girls, Hope you are all doing well. I'm still being sick

Just got back from hospital. My baby is now officially described 'large' in my notes. She's measuring up around 7lb 8oz  on the scan - and that's in line with my Midwife's measurement. I am 35+1 today.

Got my section booked for Thursday 31st July and the aneasthetist has cleared me for a spinal - which I wasn't expecting - but she said it will be reviewed by another aneasthatist and so may change.

going to get my ovarian cyst removed at the same time. It all seems very real now - although it's not yet clicked with my hubby.

    Take care girls, x x x x x

I don't know either about whether the cervix gets weaker each time or not. I know alot of ladies whith good cervixes who are on their 3rd, 4th, 5th pregnancy etc have mentioned that they are a couple of cm dilated by the late 20 weeks (25 weeks plus) and have been told this is quite normal. my friend was 3 cm dilated for most of her 3rd pregnancy, so maybe the cervix does react diferently after giving birth.

I think that getting to 21 weeks will be a brilliant milestone, and past 23 weeks would be fantastic - I know how fabulously proud I was to get past 22 weeks. I am glad you are on bedrest and pleased your family are brill and looking after you. keeping my fingers crossed and praying your baby stays put till it's more than strong enough to come out for cuddles. x x x x

    Hi

Bed rest sounds like a good idea to me it certainly cannot do you any harm that's for sure!!

30 weeks on Wednedsay, i would like to say i am getting less anxious but that's not true, just different things to worry about!

With regards to your incompitenet cervix i am not sure about it getting weaker each time. I do know though that i have gone further than i did with my daughter so if that is the case the stitch does help. I think each pregnancy effects the cervix differently. My sister lost her dd at 23 weeks had her ds at 31 weeks was monitired for her next ds and was induced at 41 weeks!!!! Mother nature - she certainly isn't predictable!!

When you next back at the hospital?

Hello. Well, I hve now put myself on bed rest and am now day 3! It's not that bad actually and everybody is being really nice! The dr didn't tell me to go on bed rest or anything, it was my decision, and I know that I am lucky to be able to do it because of my wonderful family!!!!

Anyway, I have a queston - d you think that with an incompetent cervix (which i defo have because it has funneled down to the stitch already), do you think that with each pregnancy, the liklehood  is that it gets weaker each time? The reason I'm thinking that is because first time I carried to 23 weeks and the second I carried to 21 weeks. Just wondering because I am coming up to 20 weeks, and am thinking if I cn make it to 21 weeks, chances are things will be ok,  because it would have happened by then?  Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Hope everybody is ok! Kate - you must be 30 weeks now! Not long to go! xx

That's right my cervix was just under 2cm the day before the stitch so in theory we must be about the same size now!

Hope you feel a bit better today, keep me updated how you are doing or i shall worry!!!

    Take care xxx

I'm at the royal Glamorgan hospital in South SWales, and in my opinion, they are dreadful. When I was admitted last time after   my ates broke at 21 weeks, I waited 30 hours for a scan, 18 hours to see a doctor (I was in a ward on my own and dr didn't know I was there so did'nt see me during his morning rounds), and when my contractions started, I pressed the red button for assisstance, and nobody came. After about 10 mins, I had to get out out of bed and walk to the opposite ward for help!

You are right though, and I have had some reassurance from reading previous posts. Like you said, Michelldarling was 3 cm dilated and cervix mesured 3mm! I also read that your cervix, Kate was 2 cm when your stitch went in? Concultant put my stitch 2 cm up the cervix, so theoretically, my cervix is still 2cm, with the extra support of the stitch. Fingers crossed!! xx

You know what Clare i have been thinking about this. I think if you read back over the posts you may get some reassurance. Michelledarling was 3cm dilated and her waters bulging and they put a stitch in and she managed 3 or 4 weeks and even when they took the stitch out she held on another week. Now look how much more positive the outlook is for you, you aren't dilated at all and your stitch is in with no infection or reaction. I think the stitch is doing it's job and we must just pray it continues to do so. I would however ask to see your consultant or speak to your midwife and get her to sort. You need someone to answer some questions for sanity's sake!To be fair the hospital have been great to me. What hospital is it you are using? I am at Derby City Hospital.

Sorry you are feeling a little under the weather megulemoo, i hate the way babies always embarass you about what they can and cannot do - even when they are in the womb!! Good luck for monday.

Hope you bothe get a peaceful night's sleep xxxxxx

Hi - sorry not been posting - been a bit sick lately.

Well first glad to hear the good news about your fluid being normal - and second So sorry to hear of your really disapointing scan regarding your cervix opening ladies..

Don't let it get you down babe - OK so you're open UP TO the stitch - but not beyond it. You have done everything you can now sit back, relax and don't get upset - getting upset will not make everything ok. Take things nice and easy and let's all keep our fingers crossed your stitch stops you opening any further - I'm confident it will - it can only help.

In answer to the questions about my section date - no not got it yet, I was in hospital yesterday for some monitoring as baby wasn't moving much - she started moving as soon as the machine went on - typical. I was also measured for contractions but they aren't overly strong yet - just regular. The MW said make sure you come in on monday as you have to confirm your delivery options - like I was going to forget that. Will let you all know on monday evening when we get back.

Anyway keeping everything crossed for you all - but off to be sick again

Thanks Kate. In fact, it wasn't even a consultant that I saw, it was just a normail doctor because the consultant was away. I'm just really angry with the whole system. Do you know that I have not seen the same person twice? I see someody different everytime I go, and they don't even read my past history before they speak to me, so I've got to go through it all again.  When she said prepare for the worst, what she said was if my waters break or start to contract, that i will have to go in and have the stitch removed. Don't know what to think really.

First of all congratulations on a little boy!!! Glad he is doing ok.

Can completely understand where you are coming from with the stitch and to be honest i am not 100% sure what that means. I am sure there is a post further down about a lady who's cervix opened to the stitch at 23 weeks but she was told not to worry the stitch was doing its job and she carried the baby ok, i think it is on the original - just had a cervical stitch post. My baby's head is down now so you cannot see the stitch so i am not sure what stage my cervix is at.

When you say prepare for the worse did he mention pre-term labour and when is he seeing you again?

I am so sorry it wasn't the news you wanted to hear but look on the plus side - they didn't keep you in so they are not that worried. I often think it depends on who you speak to, my consultant is really positive and supportive but i have seen Dr's who have a completely different opinion. One keeps harping on about my cervix being so small and damaged like that helps!

Try not to worry (as if) and i shall keep everything crossed for you and your little boy.

Take care and rest loads please Mrs!!!! xxxxxxxxxx

Well, I'm on a bit of a downer, eally. Had the scan, everything fine with baby - found out that it is a little boy!  However,  the cervix has opened down to the stitch, so don't really know what to think.  One part of me is relieved that I had the stitch, the other part of me is just expecting the stitch not to hold. Doctor was rubbish, gave nothing positive at all,  basically just prepared me for tbhe worse, instead of mentioning the successes. What do you think?

    Morning

Just to let you know i saw my consultant yesterday and everything is fine. I do not have too much fluid, it was plotted incorrectly at the last scan (i could now go in to an hour long rant about the sonographer who plotted it wrong and how she was moaning she wanted her lunch but i will spare you!!!!)

Baby looked lovely and was playing with his hands. He now weighs 3lb 3oz at 29 weeks.

    Back at 32 weeks, scary!!!!!

Hope you are all ok, Kate xxxxx

    Hi girls

I am fine thank you and glad to hear you are too. Not had any further problems since last weekend, must have been something i ate! I have a scan on Tuesday and an appointment with my consultant and an appontment with my midwife for my anti-d. Will report back with details.

28 +4 today, getting scary now. Has anyone dared to buy anything for the new baby yet? I don't need musch as i have loads from my dd but every time i think about getting anything i talk myself out of it and think - perhaps next week!!!

Good luck for Wednesday Clarian, keep us updated with how it goes. Will you find out the sex?

Megulemoo - have you got your c-section date confirmed yet? I cannot believe you are 34 weeks now - really jealous. Do you know what you are having?

I found out at 18 weeks that i am having a boy, already got a daughter so i think i shall call it a day after this one!!!

    Take care all.

    Kate xxxxxxxx
