    Hi Ladies

Had a hideous weekend. Had an upset tummy on Sunday and neither me nor the hospital could decide if i was contracting, after an overnight stay it was decided i wasn't. Was sent for a scan though just to check everything was ok and it now turns out i have too much amniotic fluid. Not too much of a worry as i had an amnio and a diagnostic scan already just the extra threat of prem labour. Now back on Tuesday to see the consultant for a detailed scan so she can give her verdict. Really fed up, it seems to be one thing after another with this pg!!! And finding it nearly impossible to get comfortable.

Rant over, glad you are all doing well, 28 weeks today, there was a time when i would have took 28 weeks but now i am here i want to make 32!

    Never satisfied!

Good luck all you ladies, I get my section date in a fortnight - I think having an actual arrival date may help convince other half not only is it really happening: but it's happening SOON.

My consultant said periods and spern will have no problem getting through with the stitch in. I can only presume there will be some kind of sign - blood loss or something - if you miscarry. don't know what the procedure would be though, I suppose that might even depend on how far into pregnancy you are. I think if you have a history of getting past the usual danger zone then they are happy for the stitch to stay in.

    Hi ladies,

Not been online for a few days and ony saw this thread today. I had a stitch put in at 13 wks i'm now 36+2 and booked in for a section next friday 4th july. My consultant was considering leaving my stitch in for next time if it 'looks good'. I was just thinking the reason why they put the stitch in at 13 wks was to check bubs was ok before it was put in. Does anyone know what happens if you miscarry with a stitch in within the first few weeks, and also if it will be harder to conceive?

Good luck to all of you ladies. Its nice to read about averyone elses experience its so re-assuring. sometimes it does feel like your the only one that can't seem to hold bubs inside long enough.

Thanks, it's really interesting to hear what other people would do. I think I am leaning towards leaving it in and having the section. Although I think my Hubby has decided I am such a pain that we aren't having any more lol.

hey no i was never given the option of having the stitch left in. but i think that was because i went to hospital at 10 am and by 1pm it was all in after an emergency op to put it in so wasnt much time for discussing options. If i had been offered a c-section and keep stitch in i def would have gone for it because would of meant only one operation to insert it not three. Also because i have been told that there is too much scar tissue there now so after this one thats it! x

Hi Baby, Thanks for joining in, It's really great to hear your success story - and very reassuring.

I think I'm leaving my stitch in and having a CS as hubby and midwife think this would be best. I can't remember too much about my last labour (@22 weeks). I know I had gas and air, pethedine and self dose morphine all at once and the very painful part was over 8 hours. I have also been told I was passing out between contractions. I wasn't let home that day either due to blood loss. I have SPD this time too so MW thinks I would be better off with CS but it just seems such a huge op.

Were you given the option of leaving your stitch in for your next pregnancy - would you have considered it if you were?

Hi there sorry to just join your chat. I am now on my 3rd pregnancy and 3rd stitch! I had my first stitch put in because my cervix was opening up at 14 weeks. they told me that it was only 25% chance it would work. however it did and they removed it at 36 weeks while i was awake but i did cheat and use gas and air! they told me i would go into labour almost there and then but my little girl didnt actually arrive untill 42 weeks when i was induced. They inserted a second stitch when i got pregnant again this went in at 13weeks. again it was removed at 36 weeks but my little boy arrived on his due date. This 3rd time i was in a different part of the country and the experiance has been so different! they inserted the stitch at 12 weeks and wanted to do this using a spinal to which i refused as the previous two had been done under general. and i am terrified of spinals etc. eventually after much demanding i got it done under general. that was on the 19th may. i am now 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant and it seems to be going good. So if any of you out there are worried it does work even after the 3rd one.

Mines always been long and narrow and well closed - have been shown it a few times. My stitch is quite high up but it seems to have done a brilliant job at holding everything together. My consultant looks for signs of 'funneling' (opening from the top and so looking a bit funnel shaped) but so far haven't had any.

Good luck with your scan - bet you can wait to see your baby again.

Hi you guys! Hope that you are all weel. Just out of curiosity really, whan you go for a scan, what do you see? I mean, has you r cervix opened down to the stitch?  I only asking because I have my 20 week scan week on tuesday (Ill be 19 weeks then) and was wondering if my cervix would have opened down to the stitch. If it has, what is the next step? xxx

teigan is now 31/2 and she still cant sit by herself or walk, she only has the use of 1 arm and she cant hold any weight on her legs but i worship that little girl and its ashame that others cant either especially that selfish b*** lol. it just pees me off that people can think like that about me and my family but she didnt say it in front off my partner coz she knew that he would rip shreeds off her coz they were mates for soooo long but we dont talk anymore. it would do teigan good to have a sibling coz then she wouldnt be lonely and she would have someone to interact with because she does get frustrated coz she cant do anything by herself x

Some people are so insensitive! Can't they see that what they say can hurt people- obviously not! It makes me mad! I remember telling somebody I was pregnant the second time round , and that person sying to me @Oh, who will look after it this time then?', all because I work full time, and my mam is good enough to look after my ds! Anyways, it's up to you mumtono3 how many children you have and just try to ignore what others say. GGRRRRRR!

Kate - my ds was born at 39 weeks, and he didn't walk until he was 19 months!!! He didn't sit until he was 10 months!

hi. this person was like that when i lost my  son and fell pregnant with my daughter she was quick enough to s*** me off behind my back because she thought i was stupid. but the way i see it is that why should she not lead a normal life like everyone else and have siblings like everyone else. but she told me the only reason that i have teigan is because of the money, i would rather be skint so she can walk and be like every other child and not have any problems. sorry to b*** x

Don't let these narrow minded people get to you. They have no-right to judge and if they thought about it propperly they would realise their conclusions are very wrong.

You both have every right to another child - you will love it and care for it - what else matters? You darling Daughter is as entitled as anyone else is to have a sibling. I think it will be even more super for her to have sibling and younger family members as she gets older. from teenage years right through to adulthood.

I had a friend in her 40s who had a disabled brother who lived with their mum and dad. her family would often take him out and help her mum and dad as they got older - so her brother still had lots of fun even if his mum and dad weren't up to it as much.

Keep your head held high girl, you love your family and you will care for their every need - every one else can clear off - be proud of your bump.

That's awful people make you feel that way, it is nobody elses business but your own how many childfren you have and so what if your daughter has disabilities, she is just like every other little girl and needs friends and family too.

My dd came at 29 weeks and although she is healthy we do attend regular physio to help her catch up as she still doesn't walk (17 months) so i do have a very slight idea about what you are going though. I am fed up with people asking if she is walking yet, almost daily!!

I hope this pregnancy progresses alot better for you xxx

mine has been in for a week now and have had no probs so far but mine will be coming out then i will be having a c-section which is ok with me had 2 traumatic births both within 10 months of each other. i wont be having anymore children after this one coz my daughter is getting too much for me to lift and carry now because she has cerebal palsy and relies on her dad and me for alot of help with her daily living and i cant put my body underthatmuch strain.   but people think that i am mad having another baby because of the amount of care that teigan needs in her life and they all think that i am selfish, they are always giving me dirty looks and then looking at my bump and give me a disaproving look which does my head in and then i end up coming home and crying, so what because teigan is disabled she doesnt have the right to have a sibling to play with, well she does have a big brother but he is in the cemetary ( bless him ). im sorry that this has got slightly side tracked but needed to vent some issues to someone who would listen and all you ladies sound like you would listen lol.

I'd almost forgotten about worrying that the stitch would 'pop'.

That used to be a big worry - but to be honest it wore off - I had a cold with lots of coughs and sneezes and a few 'big poos' if you see what I mean and after that I kind of though 'it aint shifting'.

I think if it was going to fail (although my consultant hasn't had a stitch fail - only 2 of his stitched ladies have been unsuccessful and that was due to other complications he said) it's going to fail in the first few days.

Thanks for all your nice comments - I will deffinately write my questions into a list so I don't forget them next time I go to the hospital. Then I think I'll be a bit more prepared in making my decision (big question being how does the stitch come out - he said I would need an anaesthetic for it last time).

    take care all. x x x

Omg Claire - i thought i was the only one who had mad thoughts!!! I think that every time i sneeze the stitch will fire across the room!!! I can only presume we are pretty safe though can't you!!!

If it helps on a panic visit one night to the labout ward with phantom contractions, the consultant said to me if it has been in a 7 days without any problems you have as good a chance as anyone with a stitch and it seems on the whole they ar succesful.

Thanks for your update too megulemoo, it was nice to hear your progress, you are right the staff are amazing.

I think if i was you i would have a good chat with the consultant about the sticth and c-section etc as it does seem a little confusing but i am sure it will be fine, you have done so well so far.

    Take care xxxx

megulemoo - what a lovely post! Thanks so much for that - it's really good when I hear stories loke your and Kate's. As everybody is aware, I'm still full of concerns (as we all probably are), but my biggest concern at the moment is this - don't laugh........ What's the likelyhood of the stitch coming 'undone'? Is this possible? I just keep worrying that the consultant did not put it in tight enough and there is no way the stitch will be able to stop the cervix from opening!!!!!!! Can somebody reassure me, please!!!
