Hi Lucalilly / Sharon
How are you both feeling? Lucalilly - you excited/nervous???
Although Im due on Thursday I have the feeling I will have the longest pregnancy in history - no signs at all
Absolutely shattered looking after my 2 year old, who after 18 months of sleeping through the night no issues, has decided to start waking etc.... AUGH! Not good timing, although I suppose its getting me into practise .....Kate

Good news for you - bet you have baby before me!
I was induced at 38 weeks last time and it worked out really well. Even though I wasnt ready to have baby physically - it took a couple lots of gel - my labour was only a couple of hours so the Tuesday night could be correct! Im ready now - havent had to do nursery as got that from Sophia - just moved her into a new room and decorated that etc. Had 2 weeks on maternity leave now so got most things done........Could have baby tomorrow! Really dont think will have baby early - have always thought Id have a December baby so perhaps we have swopped months!
Keep me updated!
Kate

Hi Kate,
Good to hear from you! Got my date today......... go in on Monday 24th for 1st lot of prostaglandin gel and then all systems go on the Tuesday! Doctor said baby will be born one way or the other by the Tuesday night !!!
Cant believe I know an exact date when i will finally get to meet this wee bundle! Am excited but also terrified.......
Hope you dont go over your due date, I would really struggle with reaching due date and then waiting and waiting. Are you all organised? I am still trying to finish off nursery but at least the cot is finally built and the walls painted.

Anyone who is interested.
I have just created a Facebook Group aimed at mothers and Amniocentesis. I have just had it done, and really needed someone to talk to, but there was noone, so I wanted to create a group that might help others in the future.
Please check it out and join if you like, help support others.
Just type "AMNIOCENTESIS" into the search bar of your facebook ---- it's the only group on facebook about this topic.
Thanks everyone.

Great news that your baby has turned the right way for you
. Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck with the rest of your pg's and your births, I'll look forward to reading what you all have. I;m glad that hearing off us mums who have babies with ds has helped you, I can honestly say that as a mum of 2 my little boy that has downs has been the easier baby - I'm pg with number 3 now and am sure I won;t be so lucky again and will have a naughty baby lol, Anyway, good luck and lots of love, Claire 16+6 xxxx ps I've got a few early pics of my special boy in my profile if anyone wants to have a peep, I keep meaning to put some more recent ones on xxx31/10/08 18:12
Kate/Lucalilly - you could end up with babies born on the same day! Dead jealous, I still have a long wait ahead!

Thanks everyone x
Glad your both ok Lucallilly & Baloobears - I tell you weve had enough scans between us 3! Im sure the NHS standard is x2!
Im due 20th Nov.......& counting. Since baby moved have been in a bit of pain - but can put up with that. Still got loads to do - as DP has decided to redecorate kitchen (?!) and Im just catching up with all the washing/sorting etc...Have started to pack bags..... I can accept a C section in an emergency situation just was really disappointed that could have had an elective one (after a good birth first time around). I think I was more wound up and worried about that than the whole DS thing - which to be honest has now sunk completely into the background. Reading my green notes the other day - I can see it doesnt even feature in there - putting everything into perspective! So completely relieved that have been released from consultant care and fingers crossed baby will be born in a midwife led unit.... Just mustnt go over due now!!!

Hi kate/baloobears,
Nice to hear from you both! so glad baby has turned the right way for you kate, one less thing to worry about!!
I had a scare last week after having an accident in Tesco's, bumped my tummy when my trolley wheels suddenly locked then lady ran into back of me with her trolley! went to day care next day and turned out i had a bleed which with me being rh -ve and on blood thinning injections was a bit of a worry........ got 2 scans to check everything was ok which thankfully it was. My due date is officially 2nd Dec but due to injections will be induced at either 38 or 39 weeks, will find out next friday when i see consultant and anaesthatist (spelling??) soooo excited to know when this wee bundle will finally be here!!
Asked the midwife about checking baby once born and she assured me that in all her years they have never missed the fact that a baby has down syndrome even if it is very mild so that has put my mind at rest.
cant believe how close the big day is for us all now
love Lucalilly 35+3

Hi Kate and Lucalilly
Kate - Came on line this morning to ask how the baby was and if it had changed position, but my connection wouldn't work! Really pleased for you, can't believe you have only 3 weeks ish to go! Are you all ready with all the equipment, etc? Hospital bag done yet?! How exciting!! Kate and Lucalilly - What are your actual due dates?
I am also hoping not to have a C-Section, but still have another 8 weeks officially before I need to worry about that. When I last saw my midwife, she asked me to remind her why I was still under Kings, and as I have had a few complication along the way, I forgot that it was the DS possibility! She had to remind me, bit ironic as this was such a major worry in my life when I got my first set of odds. Been great having the Mums on this thread who already have children with Downs sharing their experiences with us, putting it all into perspective. Special children for special parents.

Hi Lucalilly, Baloobears / everyone!
Some good news for me at last! Had a midwife appt yesterday and baby was breech..was referred for scan today and then consultant to try to move the baby...by the time I got to appt baby was head down! So relieved - really did not want a C -section (which was looking increasingly likely) I think some vigerous cleaning this morning was to thank.... Im on maternity leave now so no sitting down all day at a desk! Just need this little one to stay in this position now. All looked well - fluid levels ok (prob in last pregnancy) and baby a healthy weight and apparently she/he has long legs!
How are you both? - Lucalilly any news on the induction date?
Kate (37 weeks tomorrow!)

I had my detailed scan on Friday at Kings college hospital in London and all looked fine. They could not see any markers for Down Syndrome, the heart was good etc, and I was also told no Spina Bifida which was a huge relief for us.
I am now 1 in 700 for DS, and although the scan cannot confirm this I am not willing to risk this beautiful little life by having an amnio. This is my own personal choice and I fully understand and respect the choices of others.
I also found out that its a little girl...hence the Pink writing and Pink Bear in my photo.
Hannah I feel very happy for you especially as you have had such a dreadful time with your personal life, at least you can now relax about this.
25/10/08 00:29
I got my amnio results today and thankfully... all is normal for little Daisy
- touch wood. i dont wna jinx anything by saying that! I admire all u brave people for the taking the chance and deciding not to have amnio, i hope all works out well for u all
It was great news that really made my day having been told thismorning that im being made redundant which i could really have done without right now since my fella walked out on me last week as he doesnt want this baby just because he already has 2 kids to 2 diff women, one of which hes hardly ever seen and hes 9 years old, so i suppose i shouldnt be suprised really. Surely things can only get better from here?! At least all this upset might make me stronger?! Wish you all the very best

Had my detailed scan today and i know it's not 100% but everything looked ok,no obvious markers to think it is a downs baby.It rearly wouldn't have made any differance if there had been we still would have loved her just as much.

hi there everyone,
Im nearly 20years old and am 19+1, i was rung a couple of weeks ago about my risk as it came back as 1:70 but i decided not to have it done, i did feel really pressured by mw when she was on phone that i HAD to have the amnio done but in the end me n hubby decided not to have it done as we both agree that we wouldnt do anything with the results,
I have since seen another mw in same community as i found i didnt like the way mine handled the amnio situation as i feel everyone should make their own decison, I really hope those of you who have had the amnio done get the results back that everyone wants, i found after id stopped panicking (after phone call with mw) i was ready for what they had to say at the hospital but please dont worry too much as it doesnt help.
good luck xxx

good on you girl,.........xxx
23/10/08 11:34
i dont mind if my baby has ds cause im willing to do everything for it and i dont want to risk the chance of mc i was told it 1 in 100 to me thats a big risk for a baby i want to keep.

Hi Kate
Been thinking of you and Lucalilly with your pregnancies coming to an end! Are you all set now? I've still got a few bits to get but still got 5 weeks plus in theory, am hoping that this is not really the case! Had another scan last week and baby is very big! Not so worreid about the weight as the head circumference iykwim! Back to the consultant next week, saw a midwife last week and she was so rude, said more or less that I was wasting their time having appts with them when Iam regularly seeing a consultant. So much for getting to know the midwives then, didn't rebook, don't want to see them if I am just taking up their time! Anyway there were no obvious markers on the scan, really just wait and see now I guess. Do you knowif there have to be extra doctors on hand, at the birth, if the baby does has have DS?
My children are 12 and 10 this month, so at least they are able to help me to some extent now that I am so big, am hoping that they will help out when baby is born too.....!
