Just home from the hospital now! All is well and had the transfusion and the Professor said that he is sure it was due to an infection but the transfusion went well and they tested the baby's blood and it's haemoglobin count has shot up. I have to go back in a week for a scan to see if the fluid is being absorbed and all going well it's the last time I have to go to Kings! I'm very relieved but very sore xx

I know, that's what makes it so odd, they didn't pick anything up on any of my screening bloods but maybe that's what it was x

in adults slapped cheek is flu like symptoms they can check if its that by a blood test. I ve not ready anywhere else apart from slapped and anti-c anyone needing transfusions. x

Thanks for the PM I will definately look you up on FB but the doctors seemed as puzzled as I was at the time as like I said I'm positive so it's not that and I don't think I had slapped cheek! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what they say on Thursday x

I can't rule it out but I defiantely don't remember getting anything like that, I had the flu quite badly on and off for the first month after conception and obviously at the time had no idea I was pregnant! x

Jack had fluid in his tummy, at least you can rule out the blood then, could you have got slapped cheek at all? x

Hi lambchop, thanks for that, The funny thing is that I an O+ so it's not the antibodies and they are not really sure what it is, I've tried to look things up on the internet  but with not alot of joy! I'm worried as the baby has fluid in it too but the consultants have said that it is probably because of the anemia. It's amazing how clueless I have been as with my first I had no problems and just sailed through the pregnancy but this time rond it seems to be scare after scare x

Yes i have, my son had fetal anaemia cos i was rh neg and i got antibodies that passed to the baby giving him anaemia, there are lots of ladies on the high risk thread "im at risk from anti-c's. They have been through lots of transfusions also and gone on to have their babies, some premature. The transfusions treat the anaemia to keep the baby in there for more weeks, sometimes u need more transfusion its dependant really on what the cause of the anaemia is. I know other ladies need them because of slapped cheek. Hope this helps, pm if you have any questions.. My sons 11 now and has no lasting effects to his rocky start in life. Im now having baby no.2  so far not needing a transfusion. x

Hi, after my Down's scare I have been back to Kings College Hospital to have my scan and they have found that the baby has foetal anemia and I have to go back on Thursday so they can give the baby a blood transfusion. I was wondering if anyone else had been through this? By the way I've got a blue bump!

    Thanks, Sam 18+6 xx
