My DD reacts really badly to the sun cream/swimming pool combo. A couple of years ago in Portugal it got so bad it was making her miserable and she so desperately wanted to have fun in the pool with her sisters. We went to the pharmacy who were really helpful and told us to put on a barrier cream first them the sun cream on top. This really did the trick and she was able to enjoy the holiday. I can't recommend the make because it was Portuguese but maybe your local pharmacist could advise you.

Best thing to do with the suncream is to try some on an area where your LO doesn't have ezcema - just get those little sample packs you can buy in Boots or Lloyds/etc before buying a bottle of stuff. As an ezcema sufferer myself, I can safely say that the Boots Soltan is the best for my skin, but my sister uses the Nivea ones... everyone's ezcema is different so you just have to keep on trying until you get one that works

As to the swimming pool - best thing would be to smear loads of aqueous cream/vaseline over your LO and then make sure that you have a cool (as you can) shower after getting out of the pool asap, and dry throughly and then reapply the aqueous cream (or whatever you are using on your LO).

You can always check with your local swimming pool what thier chlorine levels are - maybe put a post on the Netmums site and you might find someone in your local area that knows which pool is best. Or go to the seaside.. salt water is very good for ezcema. (and the sea air - I grew up by the seaside and my ezcema only worsened when I moved inland)

Hello All was wondering if any one could help, my son has suffered with eczema since he was 3 months old (now 18months) and the only thing i can use to keep his eczema at bay is eumovate cream and aqueos, i use a cream for his face and a different one for his bum when he gets sore, Now he loves the water and im dying to take him to the swimming baths but just dont know what to do as im not sure how he will react to the chlorine in the water, and with the weather picking up now he loves been outside and im scared of covering him in suncream cos i scared it will flare him up and his skin is doing so well and id love to keep it that way. Any suggestions what to do or try.
