Hi my dd would take 5oz straight off no problem then she would fight it but then an hour or so later she would take another 5oz she was an hungry baby or so i thought i now know she was doing it to stop the acid from hurting her as we know milk soothes it for short periods and that is why my dd's weight ballooned and then they said she can't possibley have reflux as she would be underweight????? GRRRRRR that is why she sufferred for 11mths before being diagnosed by a barium meal. Sharon x

this p*sses me off, my son was admitted to hospital at 12 weeks with a serious blood infection. whilst in i told the docs i had an app at out patients regarding my sons reflux. at that time he was on ranitidine and gaviscon. they told me they would deal with it and sent in a doc, he asked me daniels symptoms and i told him. he said 'does he fight his bottles?' i said no so he said cant possible be reflux and took him off his meds! two weeks later and only 3oz weight gain and a nightmare time another reflux doc put him on omeprazole, domperidone and gaviscon and we have never looked back. not all babies fight their bottles and dont all have the same sypmtoms!! my lo was also comfort feeding as this helps the pain hun, huge hugs as i know what its like to have an unhappy lo xx

i have just been looking on the net and i feel so much better i found out that babys with reflux may comfort feed which my soon did and some times still does  they can be happy when distracted i thought i was going mad every time i went to doctors or was at some ones houses and my son seemedbetter on a weekend when there was more people around to distract him  screaming winging crying and fussiness my son is getting better but o yes this is exactly him crying can start suddernly  defonatly  him some times more all day though holds head in unsusuall position to ease pain yes he does it is also not uncommon for sleepy babies with reflux to sleep through the night due to exhaustion i have never had problem on a night with him sleepy babys do not always show signs of discomfort until up to 3 months he started with pain at about 8 weeks  he was a sleepy baby he would wake up feed then sleep i noticed as he got older the more awake he was the more crying he was doing i was told he had colic i new it was not colic he never had and problems till about 8 weeks really  my son was given ranitdine but it did not work took it off him they said he has just got colic it will pass and it wasnt passing doctor recently put him back on ranitdine but higher dose it has taken 3 weeks but he is miles better not totally better but much easier to deal with i believe babys with reflux would not drink bottles and i never had this problem so ever believe it was reflux sorry to go on but feel so much better that its not just me doing something wrong now i can tell hopspital he need s stronger meds as ranitidine is working but not brilliantly  i will stop now but just so happy i hope this might help people in mt situation if you want to know things look on line more useful than doctor
