My son is on neocate milk for cows protein intollerance but we began with nutramagin and i went through 2tins a week aswell as they were very small tins the neocate is also the same size and my docs prescribe 8 at a time this usually does about a month and i always phone the chemist before i ask for the prescription and tell them its coming and ask them to order it in ready this cuts out the waiting for another day, but my doctors practice also has how often i order my prescription for the milk and the other medicines my son is on and it reads exactly the same as yours but i never worry about it and nobody comments on it i think its for practice use and its not to make u feel bad, so chill out and absolutely do no feel obliged to pay for your babys milk. your baby is entitiled to free nhs prescription as much as the next xxxxxxxxxxx

omeprazole suspension,is about £100 a bottle as it has to be speacial made up by a speacial company (george did have these but he did not get on with it)he now has the tablets i have the only 9 month old that can swollow tablets lol his milk if i had to buy it would be £16.50 A TIN FOR 450G and we get 6 a time at one point we were having 120 gavsion(i month supply),6 tins of milk(last 2 weeks) and 4 bottles of moutim(sp)a month
i really don't think it is fair that the doctors moan i would go and see them with how many ozs he has if you work that out as how many scoops it tells you how many grams a scoop is and then you can work out how many scoops you have to a tin and then work that out how many bottles they have and say well each tin lasts me x amout of days(they say babys should have a pint a day that is 20 ozs
sorry to rumable on

God your doctors wouldn't like me then my dd has nutramigen but saying that she does have 1tin a week but she is fully weaned and so she should be at 16mths old and then she as omeprazole suspension, domperidone, gaviscon i have estimated a cost of £250 a month so if they are moaning over 1tin a week tell them there are a lot worse. Just ask the doctor next time you see him/her why that is at the bottom and say there is no way your lo could be limited to that not without losing weight. Sharon x

Thanks for your reply.
I know I really have tried to limit his milk intake but I'm still using 2 tins a week. He's had so many problems with him putting on weight, I dont want to cut it back anymore. The doc I see is lovely, its just whts written at the bottom of the presciption thats really bugged me. I'd like to know what on earth they think I'm doing with it. I'm prescibed 6 tins at a time, so always need to get reapeat prescription every 2 weeks, as its 48 hours till I can pick new script up and then the chemist has to order the milk in.
Sorry for the rant.

Are u under a dietician for him? if so u shud have a word with them as they woudlnt want u 2 restrict his milk intake, and u shudnt have to

hi my ds 9 mths is on nutramigen and the doc prescribes us 8 tins a time lol. to stop us going back and forth. the first doc that prescribed it only gave me 1 tin, which lasted a whole 2 days! The first doc was funny about how much we were using and i felt i had 2 go really carefull with the amount i gave him, if i wasted it i felt bad and i realised i was making him wait til i knew he really wanted it rather than normally i wud offer it and see if he took it or not.
Have u got another doc at ur surgery u cud see instead and tell them how its making u feel?
I understand the milks expensive but u cant really control the amount and times u give it 2 ur baby. At one point ds was having 4oz bottles every 2 hrs but i wud throw away an oz or so each time which really added up.
As i said we roughly use a tin every 2-3 days now hes on solids so u shudnt b limited 2 a tin a week. the normal formula u buy from the shops is double the size at 9oog and im sure most people wud use at least 1 tin a week of 900g size.
maybe ur doc hasnt realised how small the tims are, its worth maybe pointing it out 2 them.

Hi Ladies.
My son was found to have an intolerance to cow's milk and has been prescibed Nutramigen 1. He has been getting this since he was 5 weeks old, and is now 25weeks old.
The tins are 400g and I need two tins per week, as he has five 7oz bottles a day. The doc keeps saying one tin should last me a week, but there is no way it can. They now appear to be monitoring the how often I get a prescription. At the bottom of his recent repeat script it says "Nutramigen 1 400g PDR 41 days early, Prev 15, 29, 54".
I feel so angry, I feel like telling them to shove it. But is there any milk, that any you ladies know of that are suitable, for me to buy at the shops.
Sorry this is long.
