My son is 2 has a lesion on his brain ,cannot sit up and he doesnt babble or anything he has global developmental delay and severe epilepsy he can hav 20 fits or more per day and is in hospital about once a month.he has a specially adapted stroller,he doesnt sleep through the night wakes every half hour..we r living in homeless accomadation and because he is outwith the village he goes to nursery in(its a special needs nursery where we r from) they wont provide transport, what really gets me though is im a single parent and the hav placed me on the 2nd floor of homeless flats when i come into the flats i hav to wait for someone to come in and then ask them to help me up the stairs ,i can sometimes be waiting an hour ,maybe more! we had been in 3 private lets and after 6 months the lanlords always sold them and i thought i really need to get a home we can call ours, really didnt think they would make us go homeless.also when we had our private let we had 350 medical housing points when u go homeless they swipe the medical points of and give you 400 homeless points,a single person who is homeless gets the same amount so we really no hav anymore chance than anyone else.i went to see an mp who said they cant interfere with housing policy but can right me a letter of support ,hospital ,school and docs hav also written letters ,can anyone give me advice on what else i can do .im worrying so much ,i cry alot and i just want whats best for my son he means the world to me at times i feel like i cant do this anymore put he always puts a smile on my face, hes very special. thanks

Hi i can't offer any advice but i do feel sorry for you especially in how the council works now, it wasn't like that when i was younger thank god. I was in a 2 bedroomed very damp flat, all they kept telling me was to open the windows it was condensation my son had bad asthma but it didn't help. I had a son and daughter sharing a bedroom he was 8 she was 4 they said they can share up until age 10. I continually went up to office i had had enough every week without fail they told me eventually that i wasn't allowed every week and to give other people a chance, so i went next door to mp's office and asked him to ring the housing manager it took me 4mths of doing this constantly and then i threatened them, i said i was fed up and i know you are of me so i won't bother you any more but if i haven't heard anything within the next few months when my boy is 10 i will not give up until you give me a house and i will not accept anything less and you think i am bad now i will be 100% worse, i said i would accept a 2 becroomed property with a box room as i know it was the quickest way to get one as they had more of these and i would do the boxroom into a bedroom. And guess what about a couple of weeks later one of the properties that were empty that i put my name down for i got.....But i know it is a lot harder now, i feel for you especially when you have got your son with special needs bless him. I just hope you get somewhere quickly, and it is great when you can put your own mark on a place. Good luck and i hope it isn't too long for you. Sharon x
