Hi mandyramos Zoe is now nearly 18mths and that is why they want her on soya also, but she is still reacting to it not as bad as dairy obviously she can tolerate it a little better but only so much. She was only diagnosed with reflux at 11mths and put on meds a week before her first birthday but she as other issues going on also and i think it is all connected. I am due to see the consultant and i spoke with him and he is going to see me he had better not fob me off with one of his quacks as i will be very annoyed. Sharon x

Hi,my dd was on nutramigen until she was about 13 months when she just wouldnt drink it anymore,it was around that time that the hospital told us to try her gradually on dairy again anyway,my dd still didnt tolerate it either and also hadnt been allowed soya up to that point.I avoided dairy as much as I could and did gradually introduce soya products which I buy anyway as my dp has a dairy allergy, they arent that bad price wise and there are quite a few products out there. After a while she began to tolerate small amounts of dairy but has never liked milk as nutramigen is nothing like milk and that was what she was used to.It is infuriating, you know your baby the best,my dp who has the allergy has asthma, sinus problems and allergy to aspirin and ibuprofen, there seems to be a connection with it all,but once he was diagnosed and we stopped all dairy his asthma and nasal problems also improved, unfortunately you need to be forceful and get your point across, the last thing you need when you have a poorly child.Luckily I had a supportive gp,but my Hv left when my dd was 2 months old and nobody from that department even bothered about us,even though they knew she was really ill with the milk problems and bad gastric reflux.I sympathise with you and I became battling Gertie for a while, stick to your guns and make them listen.Take care and good luck, hope everything gets sorted for you.x

Hi my ds is on Enfamil and we was told he can have this until he is 5y then they would look at another lacto free milk that will give him everything he needs.

hi thanks ladies i have since been doing some research and the test was for allergy only it doesn't rule out intolerance so the dietician needs to get her facts right before she rings me again the thick cow. i am seeing the consultant in sept as i rung the hospital about her high ige antibodies and the consultant rung me back and explained that he wants to do more allergy tests including skin p*** tests and also food challenges, he wants to know what is causing the high ige. i haven't spoken to the dietician since but last time i spoke with her i didn't know about the test just doing allergy so i am p***ed off as she should have known this and they did try her on dairy whilst in hospital and she had sickness and diarrohea within 24hrs, if that, same with the soya also i tried her on it and again her nappies were getting worse each day but she can tolerate soya more than dairy as her symptoms werent as severe and as quick, but when i spoke to the dietician she said there is nothing in soya to be allergic to, so i said why did the pead tell me to cut out dairy and soya then if there isn't anything to worry about that soon shut her up, she is trying to get me off nutramtigen as it is expensive and soya is cheaper for them and she thinks i am making it all up. next time i speak with her i shall say ok i will put her back on dairy and soya and end up in hospital and tell the pead that you told me to put her back on it and see what they say. i bet that will shut the cow up. god i am losing faith in the nhs fast, the mistakes they are making are unbelievable, there as been 3 mistakes made 1 with each of my children, one was my dd1 was supposed to be on a mild antibiotic for reacurring water infections but the only way i found out that she was supposed to be on it is when they told me that i could stop the medicine now, i said what medicine and they told me she should have been on it for a year and half, they soon changed the subject. another a nurse didn't weigh my son before a operation he was 15yrs old at the time and guessed his weight he woke up half way through having a skin graft, now that is a major mistake. and then this they sent zoe home saying her bloods were ok and i even saw a patronizing b*** of a pead but really she was a sho and was fobbed off luckily the cow dietician pointed out the mistake that they had missed that she had high allergy antibodies. so another mistake. sorry for rambling but as you can see i am upset by this. sharon x

Hi my little boy had a rough start, all the milks made him ill, even the lacto free ones, doctor put him on nutremigen and he is great, so has since been diagnosed with a milk allergy (protien not lactose) i asked for a test to be done so we could have something to confirm this and he said there is not 1 single test that can be done as it affects children in so many different ways, and we are on a milk that suits him, he is healthy and not of concern, what do we need to have in writing? if they did a test it might not be a suitable one for him and it might say he is not allergic, but he cant have any other milk! i wouldnt worry about tests, as a mother you know your child and if they are on something that suits them and they are not ill anymore why change?

I think I would ask them to do a dairy challenge in hospital so that if anything does happen you are both in the right place and they can see exactly what happens. I would then ask to continue with the nutramigen until the challenge has been done.

hi is there any way you can  talk to the hosptail and tell them what they say how long did it take the systems to appear when she went back on the dariy??? if it was not long then give it to her and as soon as the systoms come back go start back on the milk (make sure you have some tinned milk)and then march back to the docs and say you want to see anther dietion and that you gave her dariy and it made her really bad and you want the milk back (dietions are crap mine told me george could have wosties and quavers wtf they all have milk in

also she may not have a dary intollance but it makes the reflux worse(this is what i was told )and also a baby with reflux can have mutlupy food intoolance also depending on what reaction she has depends if it is an allegey or an intollanceand i don't know if intollance show up on test any way not sure though if you would like to speck to me i can pm you my number sorry i am not very good at spelling

Hi my dd Zoe as been on it for 4mths they did the rast test after being dairy free for 4mths with the nutramigen milk and the rast test came back saying she isn't allergic. They tried putting her back on milk and dairy when she was in hospital before this test came back negative and she was throwing up, diarrhea and asthmatic cough and wheeze so they put her back on dairy free diet and nutramigen milk. It is the dietician that is taking it off her as the blood results say negative so i said what about when they did the dairy test and all the symptoms she said to try her on soya milk from the supermarket with the added vitamins and yoghurts etc but how much is it all going to cost i am not on a good wage and with 3 other children i know that dairy free stuff is not cheap. I don't know wether or not to put her back onto dairy then take her to a&e wheezing and say that she isn't allergic to dairy as the rast test said but it is doing this to her and see what they say she is definately reacting to milk so what is it? What would you ladies do? Sharon x
