My little one had a lactose intolerance and was on sma lf til a year. Then I gave him lactofree milk, it is a semi skimmed milk with lactose removed, it comes in cartons in the milk shelf. It is semi skimmed but to be honest soya milk is low fat too so asked my hv and she said as long as he was eating a good diet (he was fine with yoghurt, cheese, butter etc) then it was fine. So he had that for his morning and evening milk and just normal milk on cereal and in food, as he seemed to be able to tolerate that. Then he stopped his morning and evening milk at about 2 anyway.

Just a thought, but it might help, you can get it in tesco and places, think they even do an omega 3 enriched one I saw once in Budgens!

Soya has proven problems for girls too, it is not the answer to the problem just easy to get and cheap!

it was mentioned by the health visitor that at 14 months he will end up on soya milk but i'm conerned because of the amount he will be drinking and all the phyto-oestrogens in it. hopefully they will let him carry on, at the moment we have enfamil lactofree as he seems to have either a milk allergy or lactose intolerance. (hv says milk allergy but i think lactose intolerance as symptoms only appear after few days rather than instantly

My ds1 is 2 1/2 and is still having nutramigen formula. I have used soya milk on his cereal from the age of 1 but for his morning and evening bottles he has nutramigen. Occassionally he asks for milk in the day and has soya milk. Who has told you that you have to change off formula?

Hi what formula is he on? Why does it have to stop at age 1? My dd is on nutramigen milk and is still on it the dietician is trying to get her on soya but just tried her on soya yoghurt and she had runny nappies and sick i said she was reacting to the soya the dietician said there is nothing to react to but she has severe reflux and when i first went to see peadiatrician he said that normally if intolerant to milk 99%intolerant to soya. But the dietician said it was a bug she had picked up,she would be permanently in hospital if they had their way and took her off the nutramigen milk. Why can't he have normal milk? Sharon x

hi my little man is very nearly one and we are thinking of what to do when his formula milk stops, hqave been looking for an alternative and really stuck because

    1. worried about the negative press about the oestrogens in soya afftecting his development

    2. rice milk isn't suitable until they are 2

just wondering what others are doing or have done in the past??
