Hi i am so sorry it sounds like your daughter is in a lot of pain bless her. The antibiotics won't harm her she won't get addicted as children are given them regular for water infections mild ones to keep infection at bay. Is your daughter under a peadiatrician at all? If not get referred to ENT under one, if you are i would give the secretary a call and explain that your daughter is in excrutiating pain and you want it sorted. Good luck hope you get your daughter sorted out. Sharon x

since my little girl was 6 months old shes suffered with serious ear infections atleast 2-3 times a month, im at the doctors with her nearly every week, but they said they couldnt really help untill she was atleast 4 years old, one day i rang the doctors for yet another appointment because Amber temp was 39.9 she was screaming the place down and really couldnt settle and the receptionist said they couldnt offer me an appointment for another week, so i took her to casualty and they just gave her some more antibiotic, Amber is allergic to penicillian which means she can only have erythromycin or atleast thats what the doctors told us, at this point amber was just turning 1, we had now changed doctors and this new doctors were good they tryed different types of stuff with her but none worked finally after a year they sent us to ENT at the hospital to see a consultant, shortly after amber had turned 2 and had been sent for hearing test we discovered that the infections had harmed her hearing, i just assumed amber was being stubborn and wouldnt answer me when i spoke to her, we also discovered that amber ear drum wouldnt move at all which meant sound that did reach her was very muffled finally the consultant said he was preparred to put crommets in her ears which would help, i told amber doctor man was going to make her ears better, its been four weeks since her crommets have been insurted and although i can see an improvement with her hearing shes in alot pain then before her opertion, ive had her back to the doctors nearly every week since her op but they have only gaven her erythromycin, im now at the point where i just wanna sit and cry everynight with her when i hear her moaning in her sleep because her ears hurt, she refusing to go nursery saying it hurts her ears, i wanna scream at the doctor and tell him to do something but i dont know what else they can do, i just want to know if anyone else has had a similar situation and what they did to help, im taking amber to the doctors tomorrow and im going to ask if theres anything else they can do to help, im getting four hours sleep at night because i have to sit up and just hold her tight.
sorry for rambling but im really starting to worrying that amber is getting addicated to the erythromycin, i hate seeing her in pain every single day, im worried for incase the same thing happens to bump when he/she arrives in feb 09.

Hello, have you thought about seeing a cranial osteopath? A friend of mine know's of a little girl (may even be her neice - I can't remember) that got repeated ear infections and took her for some cranial. The osteoapath massages the skull around the ear area and by the end of the appointment the poison from the infection was oozing out of her ear and she was like a different child after.
I take my little boy to an osteopath and have found it to be really beneficial although it is quite expensive (£38 per 30 mins private) althouth there is a place in London that ask for a donation but will do it for free if money is too tight.
Anyway, just thought I would mention it, Lou x
