My 8 month old has had loads of xrays, mainly chest and stomach and I was told there's no danger. I always went in with him and would put a lead lined jacket on and stay with him and hold him still. It takes only a couple of seconds. I would get it done.

Hi my daughter had a barium meal which is lots of xrays continuously looking at the barium inside her stomach which concequently showed reflux. Try not to worry it is only a small dose it is people that work with it all the time that need to step behind the screen as they have constantly and all the little bits add up. Hope it is nothing. An xray is a small safe dose that they use if it wasnt safe they would not be able to use them.
Everybody would be putting in claims if that was the case.
Dont worry she will be fine with the x-ray better to have it so you know what is happening

I wonder if anyone could give any info on xrays that could put my mind at rest. Took my DD to Dr's, she is only 5 months. She has a hard lump between her eyebrows. I first noticed it when she was a couple of weeks old but MW said probably a heat rash bump and DH said I was being over anxious so I've just kept an eye on it. I can't decide if it is getting bigger because she is getting bigger or if the lump itself is getting bigger so I decided enough was enough and took her to Drs. He thought it was going to be a dermoid cyst when I explained why I had come but it doesn't move and he says it feels like bone but it is quite pointy and round. He has ordered a head xray to see if it is bone. Now I'm worried sick. Worried about what he thinks it is but then I'm worried about her having a head xray when she is so tiny - could this cause a brain tumor when she's older or something. I'm thinking surely there must be a safer way to find out what this lump is. I don't know what to do.

no need to worry about the x ray. my Lo has had stacks, maybe 40? everywher too, lol. he had lots of his head when he was a baby. they've all been head and chest actually and i've never worried.
his paed consultant radiographer said that you get more radiation from standing on some rocks somewhere in devon than you do from an x ray, lol. that was what stopped me worrying.
