My son has had gasric reflux since birth and after months of taking him to the doctors i got refered o a peadiatric consultant as his weight gain was so poor he wasnt even on a chart he is allergic to milk and soya and egg so was put on special milk and is now fed through a naso gastric tube they did this because he cannot hold more than one ounce of milk before throwing this only happens really rarely most babies with gastric reflux usually just grow out of it and dont have problems.

The only advice i can give is if you are really worried keep taking them to the doctors if you keep taking them then you know you have done your bit and hopefully they will refer you to a specialist if you need it.

it is good to know am not alone. sounds like you, and lo have had a rough time! I dont think dd is as bad, at mo.

the evening feed last night was a nightmare. after bath she didnt want any food and fell sleep. then woke up at 7pm, took 2oz but let rip. crying and crying. eventually managed to calm her down and she went to sleep. so maybe she was overtired??? could hear liquid burps and gurgles.

last night we propped up legs of head of cot, and put her in an extra layer as cold and she slept through! and this mornings feed was calm! took 8oz in 15 mins!

she seems content usually in the day, and since being on gaviscon and c+g normal takes 7-9oz 5 times a day. (7am, 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 6:30pm). she never used to take this much on comfort. so wondered if having a growth spurt or making up for it now! wondering if she is having her daily quota in the first four feeds and just doesnt want the last one. but how can she go from 4pm to 7am without eating!!

was thinking of going back to doc but dont know what to say. not even 100% sure she has reflux.

hi my son is nearly 11 months and has reflux he was sick from birth but showed no sign of pain till 8 weeks then it just got worse and worse if you google reflux it will tell you all the info about it babys with reflux can have very diffrent reactions my son would guzzle a bottle comfort feed but some fuss over bottles my son has never been a problem on night but has always been a sleepy baby and that exhausted from crying all day which makes him sleep my son had gaviscon but it made him constipated and didnt help he lost weight so ended upin hospital for 2 night having test he was then put on enfamil ar a special milk to stop him been sick it helped but not alot so changed to instant carobel and that stopped him compleatly for 3 months then he started up again he was also on ranitidine which didnt work after 2 weeks so pedriatric doctor told me to stop using it and that my son had colic i was sure this was not the case he would through him self around in pain and the bigger he got the harder it was to hold him to comfort him so my doctor put him back on ranitidine and told me to use it for a month and after 3 weeks it had made a huge diffrence but after been on it for 6 weeks it started to wear off so peds at hospital put him on omprazole which is ment for adults but can been given to babys under supervision of the hospital doctor can not give it after a couple of weeks it was better and then i got a med called domperidone for the sick which has helped but not 100 % he is still a very wingy baby and requires a lot of attention i think this is because he was always crying in pain before and i was always trying to comfort him we are back to the hospital in october and go every couple of months so they can keep an eye on him his weight is fine now but it is very hard work dealing with a baby with reflux even more so when your constantly covered in sick if your baby isnt sick it is classed as silent reflux  i wouold maybe go back to doctors and ask them about ranitidine keep at them as they need a lot of force to get them to do any hing good luck feel free to send me a message any time i hope you arnt to stressed out i know it is so much hard work especially if bed time in now a problem i am lucky as never had that problem so i really feel for you as i dont think i could of coped if i had to deal with night time problems aswell  try putting a couple of towels under babys matress as this will help keep the acid from coming up from the stomatch so will help with the pain for your baby if it cant come up as easy  hope you get your little one sorted sorry to go on but i found it a comfort to know other peoples storys and to find i wasnt alone  good luck

dd now 13 weeks. has started getting grizzly at  feed times and worse at nighttime (6-7pm). in day seems to be ok when has mouthful of milk and then drinks ok. struggle getting her going. but night routine gone manic. after bath and dressed gets really upset. have tried bathing earlier and not feeding straight away, or not bathing but still gets upset, sometimes sick.

3 weeks ago she reduced her feed volume, (ff) and started the fussing. doc put her on gaviscon as thought could be reflx. been on for about 10 days and since has eaten loads. previously ate 4-5 oz 5 times a day, now takes 6-7oz, or today was more!

just dont know what to do. no sign of thrush or teething. no temp. getting me and hubby down as each feed a nightmare. bedtime used to be fantastic, now awful. is it the reflux???

    help please.
