Dont know if this helps but i had to look this up as my hubby has an Immune condition and has to be subjected to these flu jabs every year.
The flu jab is not a live vaccine (which means he is not giving a strain of flu to see how he copes it is just a antidote to the type of flu they are expecting this year).
There is lots of info on the NHS website as it advises anyone who has any conditions that effect breathing or the heart or weak immunity to get it, i am like you if they are strong and healthy then bugs cant hurt but with my husband i wouldnt risk it and if my son had astma then i wouldnt risk it either.
Give him some chocolate and a cuddle after and at least you would have peace of mind that if he did get in contact with others that had the flu then he would be protected.

Anyone have a 2/3 year old with Asthma and giving them the flu jab. I normally am a bugs are good person but DS has been diagnosed with Asthma. He has had several attacks this year 3 serious (although not hospitalised as he recovered quickly) but I am not sure what to do. He is on a preventative inhaler and it has really changed him,I didn't really realise how much he suffered. Just don't know much about the jab. Ta

My DS is 16 months and had the flu jab on Weds as he has bad asthma. As he is so young he has to have it in 2 doses. he has been fine since.
