Hi my little boy is 6 months old - he has had an itchy head and neck area for months. I spoke to the HV and GP and they just told me that it was eczema. As this is my first baby I was unaware of the possibility that it could have been an allergy and just persisted with the eczema treatment. I had had very bad nights with him when he would constantly scratch his head once he had a night feed and become very unsettled and I could never get him back to sleep. I have been breast feeding and tried to introduce fomula. As soon as I did, he came up with a red patchy face and hives on his neck. Straight away the penny dropped and I realised he has a milk/diary allergy. The itchy head at night time was due to my hot chocolate drink before bed, which put a larger amount of milk protein into my breast milk. Now that I'm aware of the allergy I have cut diary out of my diet and he is much, much better. However he still has an itchy head/neck. I have two questions - firstly has anyone experienced a similiar itchy head/neck scenario and if so, what allergy did it turn out to be? (I'm thinking it might be wheat as well as diary). Secondly I have been given SMA soya milk by the GP to try. Oliver hates it and won't take it. I am going to try to mask it by blending it in with my breast milk - however I have read this forum and there seems to be an issue soya milk being dangerous especially for boys. What other milk is out there? I keep seeing Nutramigen mentioned - is this still dangerous or is it ok? and have your babies taken to it easily after breast milk or has it been hard to introduce to them?

What washing powder are you using?
What creams are you using? Are any of them anitbotic?
Have you tried sewing scratch mits onto the the end of sleep suits to lessen the itching.
