You need to go back to the doctors.
What has he eaten every day over the last 3 days? Or done/used every day?
You need to keep a record of every thing he eats to see if you can see a conection.

Hi there,
thanks for the reply.(and the hug!!) :-) He hasn't changed environment at all recently nor has he started nursery yet - he is still going to the same childminder and she hasn't changed anything either - we have considered air fresheners, cleaning materials etc etc. I have always used Fairy non bio washing powder and fabric conditioner ever since he was born. I'm not sure but can these rashes be brought on by stress at all? I ask that because it seems that if he gets upset about something or if he's tired, then it seems to get worse and once he's calmed down and had a cuddle it can go- although sometimes the marks can stay for days :-(( - does this sound familiar to you? (Aso, he does run around barefoot sometimes too)
Thanks
Donna

Hi, the sort of reaction your talking about sounds very much like a contact reaction. So I'd say at a guess what ever he is allergic to is some thing he is touching.
It's interesting you say he has had the rash on his feet as unless I've walked bare foot that's one place I never get it!
I know you say you haven't changed the stuff you use to wash the clothes But have they changed any thing recently? Also are you using a non bio? It's more important now he is having reactions as the emzymes in biological powder can have a really bad effect on sensitised skin. If you need to change to a non bio go for an unbranded product as a lot of people with sensitive skin react to Fairy, Arieal, or Persil, never all 3 I can only use Persil or any super market brand non bio, Morrisons is the only one I haven't tried.
You say he's 3 has he started nursery or gone to a new enviroment, moved house?
Thinking of air born triggers at this time of year are mould and fungi spores, very little pollen, dust. Touch is a whole other ball game because you have to watch every tiny movement! Plants can cause sililar reactions in some, you have a dog so he could be going places bringing the problem back in his coat. In summer I am allergic to our cats for the pure and simple reason they go wandering around the corn and maize fields and I am highly allergic to the stuff, brings on asthma and serious hay fever symptoms.
I would ask the consultant for referal for skin pr*ck tests for contact reactions.

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie here but just need a bit of advice as I'm worrying myself sick. My Lo was 3 in Nov and developed a tiny scaly red rash in Sept which came up on his back. I put it down to heat rash and didn't think much more of it until the next day when he had developed a full blown 'allergy' type of rash. Gave Piriton (which didn't work) and took him to GP who was fairly disinterested as we were told it was 'Urticaria' and nothing to worry about. Prescribed Allerief and sent on our way. Allerief didn't work, so we called NHS Direct (it was a Saturday) who told us to go see our pharmacist. Did that only to be given some cream) Still nothing working, but LO fine in himself. In the meantime I had borrowed my chilminders steam cleaner and 'sterilised' my house in case it was house dust mites. Had contacted UK Allergy assoc and bought special 'dander' lotion for my dog in case he had develooed an allergy to him and had been keeping a food diary. The following Thursday his lios & one eye swelled up real bad which was really scary so took him to a &e. Was told after 7 hrs of waiting that it was erythmya multiforme but he wasn't really sure. Steroids given for 3 days and it cleared completely. On the fourth day with no steroids it came back :-( Gabriel was given an appt with paeds and some bloods were taken. First set of bloods were fine, went to Paed appt and told probably erythmya multiforme and bloods taken (again) this time for herpes virus and something other, also food allergy. Bloods came back fine again all except the food allergy one - they didn't get a big enough sample so poor little man has to go back for another lot!! GRRRRR!
I've racked my brains to think and try and eliminate possible causes and I've tried everything. Cut out dairy, citrus, haven't changed washing powder etc etc. Sometimes he looks ok but then it can just come on in a matter of seconds. Sometimes it itches sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it's white bumps. mostly it's purply, red lumps under his skin. He's had it on the soles of his feet and the palms of his hands. Sometimes I think he gets 'angiodaema (sp?) as areas of his body get quite swollen and look sore although he doesn't seem to notice and says they don't hurt if you press gently on them. He has a rotten cold at the moment, so is under the weather, but generally (apart from looking a bit pasty and having purple blotches coming and going on his lovely little face), he's eating well and is very active. I'm at my wits end and would really appreciate some advice if anyone out there can help me.
(btw - rash now almost exclusively on his legs, arms & bottom area & face, under his arms also but not on torso or back. How weird is this thing!!!!!! :-( )
Thank you so much
xxxxxxxx

Hi i would ask your gp for a referral to the imunology department at your local hospital, my daughter who is 7 mths is suffering from an urticaria type of rash which has also made her eyes swell she was prescribed piriton but like you say doesnt do much, she has however had bronchilitis so we are wondering whether it could be viral. weve got an appointment on 23rd december for imunology but as she has had the rash for over 6wks now we are kind of thinking it may just be something she will grow out of as it doesnt seem to effect her. will let you know what the specialists at imunology advise but to be honest not holding much hope as its like trying to find a needle in a haystack when trying to find out what they are allergic to, good luck and hope your little one gets better soon.
