My son loves the crisp breads you can get from the free from aisle in the supermarket. He has them dry but they would be nice with tuna mayo on or cheese spread.

There are laods of cereals that are gluten free. Mainly the supermarket brands of Rice Krispies and coco pops. Kellogs aren't gluten free.

other than that my son mainly eats plain gluten free pasta and plain rice for lunch.

I think he has been affected by the Coeliacs because he associates food with his tummy hurting so he is nervous about trying new foods but I think we are getting somewhere as he has tried new things the last 2 nights at dinner time.

    Good luck!!

    HI

I had to write after reading about your DD. My son was exactly the same. Massisve bloated hard tummy and generally miserable for ages, vomiting. He lost weight and was very pale and was a very fussy eater but he also craved foods like Weetabix and bread (which apparently people with intolerants their bodies crave the foods which are making them ill)He also had yellow poo which could be diarohoea or quite hard.

Our Doctor suggested the bloated tummy was from tantrums (which he doesn't have - he's very mellow) or from eating too fast (he is a very fussy eater and eats very slowly) So we did some investigating ourselves and took him off wheat and gluten and to cut a long story short, after a few trips to the Doctor we have found out he has Coeliacs Disease (gluten intolerant BUT it's an auto-immune disease where the body attacks itself when gluten is in the body - kind of thing....not very good with technical stuff but Google it!)

However, because he's been off gluten for 2 weeks we had to push the Doc to get a blood test done asap because if the blood test came back negative for Coeliacs then he would have to go back on gluten for weeks before being able to have the test done again and as we found out because gluten had been out his system when we accidently gave him some food which had some gluten in he had a massive reaction with bloated tummy, sick and rash.

Sorry this is so long but it might be worth talking to your Doctor about the possibility of Coeliacs disease before you remove gluten from your los diet to save having to cause them pain by putting back on gluten.

If your lo is Coeliac you can get pasta and bread on prescription which actually tastes ok!!

Good luck, please let me know how you get on or ask if you have any questions from this waffle I have written!

PS: Be ware your Doc might have almost no idea what Coeliacs is, our Doc had to go away and read up on it although on our sons notes he clames he came up with the diagnosis!!

DD1 (4 and 1/2) has always had a very bloated tummy, loose bowel movements/constipation but we've never got a diagnosis, just been given lactulose etc. anyway, over the weekend the bloating and pain got so bad, we had to take her to the out of hours Doc who said it could be trapped wind or a food intolerance, I got thinking and realised when it's at it's worst, it has been whilst having pasta, bread etc. Took her to the Docs today who agrees it is most probably wheat intolerance and to cut it out (not completely stop it) for 3 weeks and keep a food diary. Now, I'm not sure why he said not to cut it out completely if he thinks that's the cause...

DD is a very fussy eater anyway, loves Weetabix, pasta and sandwiches which we will have to cut out. Just wondering if this does definitely sound like a wheat intolerance and if anybody has any meal ideas, especially for packed lunches. Don't know if it's relevant but DD was 6 weeks prem and used to suffer from reflux and eczema, well the eczema is under control at least.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.
