I've spoken about this with my mum - she's retiring in January & I go back to work in February. Haven't really looked into it as she said she'd look after DS anyway because she's his Nana.

As far as I understand it she would have to register as a childminder with the Care Commission so I assume the best place to look would be on their website (or the equivalent for England/Wales - we're in Scotland). I have a vague recollection of seeing a thread in general topics for people going through childminder registration so that might be worth a look.

I am sure read somewhere that in order to get help with childcare costs, your mom would have to childmind for an unrelated child as well as yours. But the article could have been wrong! Your mom would need to do First Aid/Food Hygiene courses. x
