You can buy a 'bike sack' from Halfords.... my parents have brought one for Oliver's bike so they don't have to wrap it.... I think it cost about £10 but my mum said it was well worth it and can obviously be used again when your lo's or siblings have bikes in the future....

I'd go with what Riley's Mummy has suggested but put paper round painted areas.  My parents got me a bike for my 15th birthday (Raleigh Camaro all terrain, gutted when it got stole when I was living in Birmingham (secure car park left unsecured while workmen were doing something, guess who I think cut cable lock and stuck it in the van)Some cards had arrived from relatives a or so before my birthday.  Gets to day of my birthday and opened cards from Mum and Dad and sister, then asked where the others were, told they were downstairs in the lounge, goes downstairs and there's the bike, my jaw dropped.

We've just put his bike together now. Might go with the big bow/tinsel idea but if I see a bag I might pick one of those up instead.

i think someone mentioned it before but halfords sell bike bags

they are like giant potato sacks that have different patterns on them, most of them being xmas due to time of year.

they come in different sizes for different bikes.

If you want it wrapped, why not get a christmas paper tablecloth and drape it over?

For dd we will just put it in the living room surrounded by all her other presents, we usually have atleast one present uncovered - the other yr she had a dolls pram, yr before it was a trampoline - i just get a big bow and tie that to it, the put all her other wrapped presents infront

my boys all got bikes last year and i left them in the boxes that they came in the just wrapped the box up

once they opened them their dad had the wonderfull job of putting them together on xmas morning

how about just throwing a sheet over it or putting a bbq cover over it

if it was me, i would get ds to open all his other presents and leave the bike in another room, once he has finished i would ask him to go and get something from the room it was in so its an extra suprise! This is what my mum and dad did for me, apart from they left it at my grandparents house as we were going there for xmas dinner, when i saw it they had wrapped tinsel all round it, looked great, so i wud probs do that!

Were getting DS the Roary Racing Car Trike, but were just going to put it up and leave it in the living room for him to see 1st thing! - hes only 18 months though so probably wouldnt understand if i left it in another room! x

Instead of wrapping it and putting it near the tree or in the front room, you could try a treasure hunt. Hide the bike somewhere safe and then do 2 or 3 clues to find it. The first envelope being under the tree for them. Thats what my mum & dad did years back with me & i loved it!

Oh right didn't realise you could get a big bag to put over it I'll have to keep a look out for that. I don't really want ds to see what it is if you get my meaning before he unwraps it.

i'm sure halfords sell the same sort of thing a bag you place over the bike with drawstring at the bottom to pull it tight , not sure of price though

When l bought a bike for my children last year, l bought a special cover from Asda for about £1.99 (maybe even cheaper) it is basically the material of a carrier bag but alot thicker and but has the decorative look of wrapping paper. The bag is big enough, l would say for a teenage's bike because l had to cut alot off as it was so big. Don't see why they would not sell them this year as well HTH

Yes that's an idea big bow. The other thing I was thinking was getting a large carboard box and making it into a /\ shape and then covering it with Christmas paper. I just know if I try and wrap it without anything it will just look a huge mess lol! Can just see me now getting tied up in knots with cellotape!

You could just get a huge bow and stick it on it. Saves you wrapping it. Thats what my auntie done for my ds bike last christmas.

I remember i got my ds a tractor and trailer. Either for a bday or xmas cant remember which one. Anyway it was so hard trying to wrap lol. I ended up just wrapping it over and under until it was covered. Looked like a big pile of rubbish but it done the trick and he loved unwrapping it. x
