My hospital has private rooms for everyone. For all 'normal' births, everything happens in the same room and then thats your room to recover in too. They have ensuite bathrooms and the rooms are a lovely size too.
I had an emerg c-sect last time and enjoyed the privacy! You could always leave your door open and midwifes were always popping in to say hello and asking how we were doing.

after my c-section i was put in a single room over night till late on the next day, they helped my to the shower and when i came out they had quickly moved all my stuff to another room, but luckily there was only 1 other lady there and we got on realy well so it was quite nice, then i was only there another night!xxx

My hospital prefers CS mums to be with other mums in case you become ill. Presumably the other mums are exepcted to keep an eye on you which I'd have thought was the responsibility of the midwives.
The loos are down a very long corridor too - I don't think anyone is close a loo - and certainly not en-suite!

i am really lucky at my hospital, no matter what kind ov birth you have you get your own room. very rarley you have to share a room with one other person after delivery if the wards are to full. i was in 3 days and had my own room with a toilet and shower room, i was pleased to have a room ov my own for the peace and quite to recover. im hoping this time however i wont have to stay in all that time as i am trying for a normal birth.

How i can i find out if my local hospital offeres this service? I was quite lucky after my emergency section, i was allowed to stay in the labour ward for 2 days then transfered to the ward, but when i was on the ward all the ladies who had sections were transfered straight to the ward, i couldnt do this so if the option of having a sideroom wouldn be great.

In our hospital you spend so many hours after birth in your own dfelivery room tehn you are moved onto the ward with other mummies. First time i was only inmy own room as went home pretty quickly - second time i spent about a day in own room as needed to be kept an eye on due to bad tear..tehn went on the ward for 2 days while had blood transfusion etc.
Third time i had emergency csec so was in own room unitl i was up and about which was about 10 or so hours then moved onto the ward.
I think its nice to be on a ward so you arent bored but i would have liked the first night to been just me and my little one.

My local hospital put section ladies in their own rm for at least first 24hrs, more if possible. I think by the time I had ds4 they were happy to be able to shut the door on my brood, lol -

had an emergency c section and was in for 5 days in my own room . think it does depend on how busy hospital is and how you are recovering . after 48 hours I was quite bored and wouldnt have minded a bit of company on the main ward

If theres room at our hospital they prefer the Mum to have a room alone the first night. But last time there was a lot of cs's and I was on a ward with three other cs Mums- which I kind-of preferred as we were all in the same boat! You can pay for a private room if you like (and again if they're not taken by Mums who've had/whose baby's had complications)- it's about £35 a night.

Not usually but you can pay for a private room.
I prefered being with other ladies though, specially after visiting hours were over, and they were always on hand to keep an eye on baby when I needed a wee.

...if you've had a section?
Our hospital have rooms with just 1 bed in and I wondered who they were for.

I had an emergency section last time and afterwards spent the night on the delivery suite in a lovely room and then in the morning was wheeled up to the maternity ward, not sure if this was standard or because I had my section after teatime...
Was put in a room with others - which did my head in and made me want to go home as soon as possible!!
I'm 12 weeks pg now and if I have to have another section (which I'll find out next week) I'm hoping that I'll have my own room because I preferred it...
