    great thread

i can't wait to ride again as i stopped at 5 and a half months pregnant. I am having a section in 11 days so hopefully i will have a speedy recovery and be back on my horses soon.

Good luck everyone...keep me updated on when you manage to get back on the horses again.

KatPayne - I'm totally with you on that one. I feared getting off for weeks as the first time I dismounted, I caught my scar on the stirrup!! Cowboy style was def the way to go!!

Just a tip - if you can manage to dismount 'cowboy style' (swing your leg over the front) I found it more comfortable. Bumped my scar on the pommel first time and boy did it hurt! The riding itself was fine. Please dont go mad though, girls, look after yourselves ok! I am now v preg with no 2 and missing riding like mad

I was riding after 4 1/2 weeks. It didn't hurt, but I could feel the scar pulling a bit.... not enough to stop me though!!

I expect all of this weather has made the grass so rich!  Have you ever tried lunging before riding to get her to let some steam off?  Believe me I know all too well about nutty horses!  I had an Ardennes X show jumper 17.2hh 5yr old as green as the grass and well had a few screws missing, let alone loose!  Still I think they're great!  Good luck to you with the girth, lunging might help shape her up too!  You don't need a saddle for that or you'll be riding bare back till Christmas! Forgot to say that it would of been sooner but I was involved in a car accident when DD was 9 wks old on the way home from holiday and was in hospital on a spinal board!  So didn't do too badly being back in the saddle at 14wks!  My GP said it would be OK after my 6wk check up. (which was actually at around 8wks as they were really busy when I tried to get an appt!)  Does that make sense or have I just waffled!! Rxx

Hi Hun, I had my 1st C Section in Dec 2004 and was galloping across Dartmoor in April2005!  I had about 14wks recovery time, got an infection in my scar and took a while to heel etc  So wanted to be on the safe side.  As long as you feel comfortable and there is no pulling or pain, I would say just take things easy at first, flat work or light hacking (as long as the mount is bomb proof for the hacking!) first.  Than just see how you feel, Make sure you feel happy and comfortable before starting the jumping and cross country!  Worked for me. Rxx
