I am sorry to hear about you experience... the after care sounds pretty poor. I had an em section Nov 2006 at the LWH. I had pre eclampsia really bad and ds arrived 9 weeks early. I was on the ward for about 10 days because ds was in special care and they were trying to get my blood pressure back down... so got all my stiches out while there and never had anyone out to see me.
I am now 26 weeks pregnant with number 2 and have seen the consultant a couple of times but not really discussed much. I am inclined to have a planned section this time so you have made me aware of some issues I might want to address with him later this month. I too have heard only good things about the LWH and i guess because I had good care and more importantly ds did, I never thought much about it.
Hopefully the pains you are feeling are just the normal ones like everyone is mentioning. I honestly cannot remember much pain, but I spent a lot of time in the ward recovering so that might have helped. And then had no choice but to be on the bus everyday to see ds. Also had an appointment with the consultant at 6 weeks just to check everything. I thought that was pretty standard too... I would definetly complain if you were treated so poorly. I don't know how much good it will do but if your pain gets worse might give you cause to get a second opinion or be seen to more in the next couple of months just to make sure all is well.

Im sorry to hear about your bad experience in LWH hun, it is surprising to me as it has some of the best doctors and consultants in the uk if not europe, so ive heard.
I had my dd there 16 months ago and it was fine. I was in there from week 27 due to waters leaking and was sent home every weekend to spend time with my little boys under strict instructions to rest!! I met some lovely people in there, who ive stayed in touch with, including midwives and must say enjoyed my stay apart from missing my boys and fiance immensely (bet you think im weird) lol
My 3rd c-section went without a hitch, apart from a slight tear to the bladder which was sorted and I was sent home 9 days after due to my daughter being in special care for 7 days as she was 6 weeks prem and then i had her with me in transitional care to establish feeding b4 we were allowed to go home. I was grateful to the staff there for looking after us so well and even the cleaners made my stay comfortable!
Im returning there again in march when i have this baby and hope i have another good experience or else i will complain and rightly so. Midwives r under so much pressure and sumtimes don't realise that its people theyre looking after which i agree is wrong.
I think every hospital has bad times and good but to be honest i havent heard a bad story bout LWH...... I will be wary but fingers crossed everything will go ok.
As for the pains, i still get some sensations 16 months on but you have had a major operation and it will take tiime to heal as your muscle and tissue has been cut through. If you are unsure tho, go and get it checked out and put ur mind at ease hun. Hope u ok

hi
i had my son in the liverpool womans hospital nearly 4 years ago they left me in labour for 3 days, then i had to have a emergency c section and they kept me in for 6 days, i didnt like that hospital at all so im booked in for another c section on the 29th aug at ormskirk hospital which seems a much nicer hospital,

Hi Jennifer
I was booked in to LWH and at 20wks i transferred over to whiston due to something as simple as them not providing antenatal classes, i thought if they don't offer the support before then it certainly won't be offered afterwards. When i trasferred i was told by EVERYONE that i had made the right decision!!
I had my baby girl last july via emergancy csec and they kept me in for 3 days, whilst in they were supportive too, and took the baby during the nights for us csec mums that weren't bf. Once discharged my mw came every day for a week and removed my stitches after being home 2 days, i did have problems but i think it's just one of those things after a csec, on the whole i was happy with the care i received from them.
i am now 8wks pregnant and my dr wanted me to book in with LWH as i have thyroid problems i have attended and spoke to the consultant who seen no issues with me transferring over to whiston so i'm in the process of doing so now.
The way i see it is that it's not the mw's fault they're under immense pressure due to being under staffed for the area they cover however i do think that the care is insufficent there from the stories i've heard, as like you - you shouldn've been kept in longer and your mw should've been informed by the hospital to come and see you earlier, i'm sure others can tell you positive stories too, however all i've heard is negative.
I do know that it takes months to feel better after a csec and i didn't feel 100% until about 7-8m afterwards, good luck on your recovery hun, i'm sorry if i sound too negative about LWH but i'm only telling you what i understand of the hospital Xxxx

Hi Jennifer,
I had a little girl called Mika Erin on the 13th March. They tried to induce me but it didn't work so ended up with a section, asleep! I was too scared to be awake. I had her on the Thursday and went home on the Sunday, I can't believe they sent you home so soon I could barely walk the next day! You must have been in a lot of pain. I would say my scar stopped twinging everyday after about 4 months. I now get twinges but this is the nerves as the feeling has come back in some places.
My mum was sent to Liverpool womens about 9 years ago and she hated it, she stayed a week and was then sent back to Ormskirk where I had Mika. I haven't heard many good things about the womens and when I had Mika there were quite a few women in from Liverpool who had chose to have there baby in Ormskirk.
What did you have boy or girl?

Hi,
I also had a caesarian on 23rd April and I too have been experiencing the same pains as you, especially the burning sensation above my scar. It also seem to get worse when I get up in the night and I have noticed the numbness I have sometimes itches which I think that means the nerves are repairing themselves.I suppose we will just have to wait a bit longer for it to get back to nromal !

Hi,
I had a section on the 13th March (was my first baby), I had pain like you are describing for quite awhile afterwards. Even now I get twinges but think it is the nerves as I have started to get some feeling back. My h/v said that it can take 6 months to 12 months to fully recover (muscles). I live in west Lancs and the midwife came to see me every day or every other day for the first few weeks and she also checked my wound each time. It sounds like they did not look after you very well! I would definetly complain as it is not right.
I was really worried all the time in the beginning as I had never been in hospital before but at least I had regular contact from midwife and when that ended my health visitor came to visit. The midwife also took out my stitch which hurt like hell!!
Congratulations on your little one too

i didnt have a c sec but my last birth at LWH was horrendous. the level of care/not care was awful. I have had 23 pregnancies, resulting in 6 live births and on all previous occassions havent had any complaints, couldnt believe how much things had slipped. I didnt put in a formal complaint but wish I had. Did let my consultant know exactly how I felt.
Paula & Tara 5months
Hope you feel better soon.
