I had my first section last week and had terrible pain in my neck and shoulder on one side which i was told was trapped wind.  they gave me peppermint drink - basically peppermint squash made with hot water.  also, i was later told that codeine can make you constipated as i hadn't pooed for nearly a week and was in agony so stopped taking it.  i also tried drinking prune juice watered down, but i think since i stopped the codeine it made it better, but you can get the peppermint drink from the supermarket.

I was given it in hospital so hopefully they may have it but otherwise would ask in a chemist x

Hi, I have read in other posts about peppermint oil for the trapped wind after a section,  I am due to go in on Weds and just wondered if anyone could tell me exactly what I need to get, when to take etc!  I've had 2 previous sections and always found the trapped wind unbearable afterwards. Was never told there was anything I was able to take for it!!

    Thanks
